  1. Hello fellow fisher guys and gals "misplaced" my family filette knife.. worked wonders (while it lasted) and now im in need of a new one.. are the rapala knives from canadian tire any good? work buying ? or are they all "basicly equal" as long as there sharp?
  2. ya sure , why not !? lol i was using them in open water dragging them across bottom , as well weed edges and pockets.. and cant forget other structure !
  3. honestly this has happend to me twice in the same day ! i was fishing for trout in a little river / creek in the cobourg / grafton area.. snagged a minnow .. i was like what the heck..casted it out + my worm..caught a little trout...during that the minnow got off.. a nother few casts.. hooked into another minnow! figgured i would use it to .. but it fell off during the cast ! (no pictures but my cousin was there)
  4. the only real problem i found with the chigger craws was the claws , they seem to get ripped off by all the little guys.. BUT that does not mean throw them out ! caught PLENTY of fish with single craws.. mean while all my buddies were throwing them out ..
  5. I didnt read all of the quote but i do agree , as i preffer Power Pro , or Stren Super braid over fireline.. fire line seems "crusty" and have had it break off on me numerous times
  6. ya both ideas work well , even if you throw them on a 2'o worm hook , works great weighted or weightless
  7. both nice rods, have both of them in 7' but honestly im a big fan of warranties .. so shimano has my vote..
  8. i personaly love the gulp alive, and have been "testing them out" havnt tried every single one yet as they can get pretty pricey.... but when im out just wanting to catch a fish.. doesnt matter what kind i preffer to throw the 3'' minnow grub.. normaly in a pearl white.. catch anything from panfish , to 4+lb smallies.. walleye , pike and musky .. and hey even my girl friend uses them (she baught her own tub) .. and she still catches plenty ! as for the "leaky container problem".. id recommend if you buy them in the tub instead of pealing the seal off. take an exacto knife.. and cut a little X in the top.. as well as get a wide elastic band and put it just beneith the threads on the container.. (works 10x's better... BUT try and keep it upright .. cuz it may still leak a tiny bit .... just not nearly as much as it would Or ... you could just change the container? lol
  9. fish them fast, fish them slow , fish them as a trailer on a jig.. light line, heavy line.. they work almost any way.. ALOT of ppl used them last year .. and well they worked.. whether you flip pockets and docks .. or just huck them out there.. found that they worked great in many situations.. i normaly fished them on a 2'o worm hook .. with or with out a weight.. but that set up you have got there would work just fine , though i normaly stick to 20-50lb braid..
  10. Beauty Fish , Beauty report
  11. hey , ya deffenetly hit up the narrows in the evening as the suns going down for some walleye using sumthing like a husky jerk has worked well for me in the past... as for pike i normaly throw a spoon across the opening of bays etc .. thats where i find most .. but never really went all out for them let us know how you did , I used to live just up the road from there (Skootamata Lake road..) its just south of the campground.. and try and visit it every year.
  12. yes sir , theres pike to, iv caught plenty.. normaly just cruise anything ( i normaly use a williams gold spoon.. or xraps..) and mainly find them at the mouth of bays and the river
  13. all over ! lots of ppl like goreskies
  14. i live right around the corner from where you are pointing, this spot gets pretty beat up by anglers.. but where you are pointing is actually some1s back yard but 20-50 north west of there/ a bit around the corner..is fine.. there is a water front trail there BUT there SUMTIMES is a "no fishing/picknicking/dogs" sign there but the locals dont mind AS LONG AS YOU DONT "MESS AROUND" the shoreline there is good for bass, BUT there is alot of hedges and sutch... Mike.. send me a text / msg me when bass opens and il take you to a few good spots on scugog.
  15. i preffer low profile baitcast reels,
  16. Jedi, and Gone fishin" couldnt of said it better , frie line and power pro is what i would recomend for a spinning set up, from 10-20lb range. cant go wrong there , ecpecially the line diameter that braid has !
  17. hey had the same "problem" on scugog the past few days.. they are hitting all kinds of luers.. tho there not in season.. just really surprised me as i caught two last year, and have already caught 6.
  18. head straight north on simcoe, out of port perry, till you hit "the trading post" which is Whitfield road, take whitefield road to the end, and u reach the lake.. with the marina on your left, which is West shore marina
  19. its called "West shore marina" (on the west side of the lake right across Goreski's) as well try Goreski's , or island marina.
  20. wow thats awesome
  21. ya i find that to ! they look at you like your always either doing somthing wrong .. or that your not welcome.. wether it be myself in my boat , or almost anyone else in there boat.. like dont get me wrong i fish from docks and piers all the time.. but other people use them to not only for fishing..
  22. I have been reading reports much like yours, and i'd really like to see what the mnr are going to do, theese birds can be a big problem on the fish , but so can the fishermen and poachers and just like Billy said they will take "natures side" and possibly change regulations etc..
  23. hey hey , i have no problem with other people, young or old, im a very social person , as well as i fish at the boat launch as well as many others.. its just when some one is using the launch for its intended use , which is launching a boat i get out of the way , and maybe even help them, but im normaly not one to be rude , tho i understand there is always exceptions and people have "bad days" etc, like it would be another story if i was to peel in and run over his lines.. or somthing like that ..
  24. I would be interested though Aylmer is a bit far
