fish-miester replied to Fishing 24/7's topic in General Discussion
im heading up north to Lake Mazina aka bon echo park, very deep and clear lake, what line would you guys recommend for flippin docks up there? im used to flipping with 50lb power pro here on the kawarthas.. but should i maybe make the switch to fluro or mono up there in the clear water? or should i just use a fluro leader? -

I was born and raised on Skootamata lake road .. aka in between Skoot and bon echo.. and we used to fish skoot all the time as well as sheldrake.. and we used to catch plenty .. but havnt been up there in a while.. did you get any luck ?

was wondering the same thing , im heading up there the 24th to the 27th i know there is largies and smallies, as well as pike, walleye, lake trout, stourgeon and I think whitefish as for near by lakes.. there are plenty skootamata , sheldrake , the list goes on.. as for techniques.. i have no idea! as i havnt been there in a few years.. so your guess is as good as mine ! hopefully some one on here can point us in the right direction !?

So woke up this morning a little cranky .. figgured id go fishing .. kool off... you know .. well thats not the case.. i leave my boat at my buddies house.. turns out he took it out and wasnt comin back till late.. errr.... so i walk down to one of the water trails.. start fishin away .. caught a few 2lbers in the slop / pads.. and met a guy down there started betting on who would catch a bigger fish .. it was all fun and games till i saw this swirl .. which looked like a dang wirl pool wich lasted for a good 50 seconds.. so me figguring hey theres a fish there.. i take a cast.. and like i suspected.. there was! this thing slammed my spinner bait..next thing you know.. the fish takes a big head shake.. and we truly see how big this fish is.. (this bucket was honestly probably 7 pounds.. no smaller then 6.. this was a nice fish.. i look at the guy as hes now in aw.. next thing i no the fish is still splashin around and fighting like a train.. and im starting to get more spectators.. Then It Happend ! SNAP ! the fish jumped and snapped my line.. this thing was large .. and what caught me off guard was that a few of the guys came over and actually thanked me for the show, and showing them that there is still fish in the lake.. after that .. i packed it in.. for now atleast .. gotta go buy some new line haha but just thought Id share my day.. -A fellow fishermen

Hey guys and gals, Im heading up to the haliburton area to the cottage , and planned on taking all my gear + rods etc as well as 4 others plus my self (full car) which got me thinking.. i normaly lay my rods over the back seat with the tips laying in the tray just under my radio, tho by doing this it takes up the middle back seat , the rods are 6'6 - 7'2 all one pieces. so breaking them down is not an option. as well as im not sure if the Sante fe is big enough to hang them from the inside roof by the "oh shoot" handles with a strap across holding the rods as i have seen done before. another idea i was thinking was to make / get a case for the rods to put on top of the car itself and attatch to the roof racks? maybe a pvc pipe or 2.. and strap them on some how? or does any one else have a better idea? or personal experiences with this? if all else fails i will make the passengers suffer.. i really dont mind as long as the rods are comin to.. after thinking it over im looking to buy a piece or 2 pieces of pvc pipe , aprox 7-7'2 -thanks again a fellow angler

fish-miester replied to rbaquial's topic in General Discussion
i find musky around the port perry peir , as well have caught them behind the libary / birds eye park. As for crappy i have found them all over, pier, boat launch , behind the library , and all over. tho i dont always get the size i want, but those are just some areas u can try. but good luck, it was pretty crummy here earlier. tho i think it has let up quite a bit -

i just had a root canal done last month.. but honestly wish I had just pulled it, as its costed me $1600. and still aches.. -
i Have 8 decent baitcaster, not including ice fishing rods.. use them all..
-
haha you said it "BillM" and as for the abu black max, i find its not that bad. i had one for a bit, and out of the ones mentioned i would go with that, tho if you can grab a used curado 100 or 200 you would be fine,

Hey Ciceri i live just down the river from you (aka port perry / view lake) as for a rod, i would suggest a 6'6 MH , or 7'mh. and i normaly throw 30-50lb power pro , or stren super braid and well i thought id start off and buy a cheep baitcaster set up.. so i got one of the Rhino setups from cdn tire.. it worked great.. but it was no shimano calias so to speak.... so i went down to bass pro and looked .. picked up a browning stalker combo for cheep.. not bad once again just to start of....the list goes on and well lets just say i have 7 set ups now..and those are no longer around.. the browning died.. and the rhino i traded in to bass pro for a reel trade in.. now if i could go back in time i would of spent a bit more on my first few set ups.. just a heads up , as carrying your rods.. i preffer 1 piece rod.. even if i had to ride my bike...but that is personal preference

didnt do too bad on the bog..for not intending to do anyfishing.. went out in the boat with the gf just to soak up some sun..as it was our first day off.. only took 1 rod.. hoping id have a chance to use it.... while we were anchored / tanning i heard a splash and looked over to see a big swirl. thinking its a musky or sumthing big.. casted my only lure i had on me.. (which was an xrap) and started twitchin .. next thing i know a BIG hit.. set the hook thinking its a musky .. next thing i know its puling drag on my old pfluger president baitcaster with my 7' mh rod bending over quite a bit.. then thats when it happend ! about 3 feet air born ! SMALLIE ! so here it is !
