So what's your association with BW rod guys and how can you guarantee the same thing won't happen again......are you willing to assure delivery of product?? Just asking as it seems you have an educated opinion.
-
Apparently this is another kick at the can for these rod makers from what I hear and read on another site. The first kick left lots of people without cash and rods. Seems popular opinion is, not bad rods but don't pre-pay for something you may not get. Like I said this is just what I've read on another site but alot of peolpe claim to have been screwed by them.
-
I have 3 Loomis and 2 st.croix rods and although I usually reach for the Loomis, the st.croix are very nice and of great quality. There is just something about the loomis that screams quality and they are so sweet to use. I would say you can't go wrong with either , it's a matter of feel.

I've been to and dived from the same waterfall, it's totally beautiful there. I'd love to go back again....someday!! Great pics.

I'm not critizing Roy, he has a right to his own opinion and as voiced here some agree some do not. But to clarify.....he was rude, as he admitted himself. Maybe he was just having a bad day, we all have them.

So let me get this right ....you want to jail single mothers and take away their kids . No matter how they got to be single moms....what about widows, abused women, deadbeat dads...??? Stop drinkin the ceeement pond water Clamp-it, it'll affect your brain.
-
Kids should be given every opportunity to be involved in as much in their short childhood as they can. And as long as I 've been on this earth fundraising has been a part of being a kid...bottle drives...carwashes....chocolate bars...etc. Wheather it be because of lack of funding or no money at home they should still get the opportunity to be involved who cares what the reason is. It's beyond me the comment about someone else raising/supporting having responsibitily for someone elses kids....come on were talking about a couple bucks now and then so a kid can do something constructive and be involved. I went in Macdonalds and got a bunch of job applications that I hand out to squeegee kids and you should see the sneers I get. Sometimes I offer them a job cleaning up at my job site and they say no....these people will never get a dime from me ...but a kid who wants to have a couple bucks for a group endevor...I'll give every time. And I never once think I'm raising someone elses kids
-
My household combined income is over 150g...My kids are raised and live at home...nobody supports my kids but me and my wife. If one of the many activities they are involved in seeks financial assistance outsite the group or parents that's up to them. How can you liken that to somebody else supporting my kids or sponging? Whatever!! Kind of messed up IMO.
-
I can see your points for squeegee kids or panhandlers. But kids who need extra help because of lack of school funding, who want to do the extras the schools don't pay for. I guess non achedimics are not important. Or kids who's parents pay 1000's of $$$ to play sports and keep them out of malls and crime who want to paticipate in an out of town tourny and need extra funds. Or the single parent who works just to feed the kids and would like sports to be part of their upbringing but can't afford it. How about Scouting Canada who clean up riverbanks, plants trees and so on , but need to raise funds to go to camp. Maybe it'd be better off to ignore them , let them sit in the malls or hang out in parks at 11pm doing no good. Video games and TV for you kids cause I'm too cheap to give a buck cause I need to upgrade my GPS and by my 12th rod and reel. What a bunch of stuffed shirts.....remember these kids are our future

That's terrible Mike. My thoughts are with your family. Matt

Get a map of the river. Search out 30'holes and stay away from water between the islands and shore on the narrow side. Current can be deadly and unseen. If you fish the breaks on lac chant plein you may get lucky. I can't be more serious about the current on the back side of islands.....STAY AWAY Ask the locals abouot ice conditions they are usually helpful

Saw this on another site.... This response is to the Mercury's Marines presents the important truth about DFI outboard engines, labeled Someone's about to get a Rude Awakening. This came out at last years Miami Boat Show. It was quickly looked at and gone over. It was also talked about here on the barn a few weeks after it was released last year. In a way this is good news for the marine industry. Why? In the past years Mercury has stated that the Verado was there answer to everything. Now they realize that that its not and they need Optimax to move forward. They now join BRP in telling the marketplace that 2>4. Some important things to look at in the ad are as follows. Mercury's Claim: Optimax produces fewer emissions and iscleaner then E-TEC. Fact: E-TEC produces lower TOTAL reportable emissions versus Optimax in every case. Mercury's Claim: Optimax puts out 78.8 Carbon monoxide. Fact: That number does not appear in the EPA data base and there is no reference as to source. The reference to 10% refers to one example & is miscalculated. 78.8 is not 10% less then 84.9%. According to the data in the EPA data base the CO# for the 225XS is 83.41(1.7%less not 10%). EPA data is available to the public at www.epa.gov.otag/certdata.htm#marinesi Mercury's Claim: Optimax beats E-TEC in acceleration, top speed and weight. They failed to mention: E-TEC beat Optimax in top speed, acceleration and optimum fuel economy in the 90hp Bass & Walleye Boats shootout. E-TEC beat Optimax in top speed in the 200hpshootout. E-TEC beat Optimax in acceleration in the 225hp shootout. Mercury's Claim: Optimax 225 Pro XS weights 520 lbs. E-TEC 225 weights 564 lbs. Fact: The Optimax weight is 505 lbs and the E-TEC weight is 509 lbs. Mercury's Claim: Despite E-TEC's claim, it is not maintenance free, (just check the owner's manual) Fact: E-TEC claims 3 years or 300 hours no dealer scheduled maintenance. E-TEC maintenance section in the owner's manual is 1 page long. The Optimax maintenance section in there owners manual is10 pages long. You can look in either manual and you will see. Mercury's Claim: Optimax is designed with innovative features such as freshwater flushing, lightweight cowels, see thru fluid reservoirs & easy to follow operators manual. Fact: Evinrude was the first to market freshwater flushing port in 1990. Evinrude invented it. Evinrude also uses lightweight cowles, see thru reservoirs, & easy to follow Manuals. Evinrude just don't brag about it since these features are all basic standards in the industry for all manufacturers. Mercury's Claim: Exhaust is routed through the gearcase and exit through the prop area. Fact: So is the exhaust of virtually every outboard in the industry 10hp and above. Mercury's Claim: E-TEC cost more and provides less. Fact: MSRP is the manufacturers suggested retail price. Mercury suggests that an Optimax is notworth as much as an ETEC. Mercury Claims: Optimax is the No. 1 selling DFI outboard in the world. Fact: It sure doesn't hurt you be your own customer. Mercury Claims: Unlike E-TEC which offers a third party aftermarket warranty package, every Mercury comes with a three year factory backed non declining warranty. Fact: E-TEC of course offers a three year factory backed non declining warranty. The Mercury 250SX,225 Sport XS and the 200XS all come with only a two year warranty. Bass and Walleye Magazine rules for the shootouts are as follows: Each manufacture is to bring only a stock production engines to the test. Each engine must be in the exact configuration in which it will be offered to the general public. Fact: Mercury showed up with its 225 Pro XS. It was equipped with solid mounts and the SportMaster lower unit. This model was not then, and is not today available in that configuration. It is available as a 225 Sport XS and is from there race division & carries a 2 year warranty. As you can see the ad has several highly inaccurate statements. Perhaps this is why you do not see it much when you go to your Mercury dealer or at a boat show. Please note that I did not take this from a mailing from BRP. It is in my words. We did receive input from BRP on this matter last year. I did foward this response to them before I posted it to be sure the information was correct. Like I have been stating that our advertising is against the 4 stroke as this is what the market feels they need. Will there come a time for the 2 stroke vrs 2 stroke? Yes im sure there will be. This is what keeps todays OEM's at the drawing boards. It has raised the standard and the bar of todays outboards. It is a win-win for everyone. __________________ Barnacle Bills Marine

To add to marcs comments.... I believe that Canada is the only country without laws regulating the location of dumping. Without these regs the ships can dump anywhere in the inland system as opposed to 1oo km from the mouth of the St.Lawrence out in the Ocean. Makes sense to dump in the ocean because salt water has much more of an ability to cleanse and filter itself and freshwater species will not survive in the ocean waters. Problem easily solved...right? So why aren't they doing it?? Politics? Money? Who knows . But with over 2400 members OFC has the ability to put tens of thoousands of names on a petition and as the leading fishing board in the region may get somebody to listen. My 2 cents.. I believe it would be worth a try

I'm not going to argue with you Chris. It obvious your opinion on certain topics, mine differs. The invasive species have been around longer , yes, but it took time for them to grab hold of the fisheries and show their real potential for damage if not kept in check. Regulating ballast dumping is a hugh problem I agree , but not the only problem. Marc didn't suggest it, people have been screaming about it for a while, he just repeated it. (Matt, I don't understand, on one hand you agree that our fisheries are stable and sustainable....and yet you are also claiming that the "resource is in need of as much help as possible." Can you please be more specific ) I don't see how I can be more specific than that!!! It's not doing too bad but still needs attention! What's wrong with that statement??? I never said anglers are the problem....you did...I believe anglers can make some difference though. Regulations play but a small role Chris. Loss of habitat, pollution, invasive species(aquatic and plantlife),destruction of habitat, global warming, over harvesting all play their rolls in nature. Each one is responsible for certain problems and all together they create a hugh problem. Can you disagree with that?

Those quotes are based on conditions in 2004,as you can see my opinions are reflecting the conditions in 2008(or close to it) and you can see that since then VHS, gobies and Zebra mussles and cormorants since then have devastated much of some water systems. I believe that it may appear that muskies are more prevalent but I take into account better angling techniques and higher profile catches, if you combine this with catch and release it may give the impression of a healthier fishery but the log program has in the past couple years shown different. LSC had 50% less fish caught after the first year of VHS, the larry was close as well. "Overall, Ontario's muskellunge fisheries appear to be stable and sustainable. This can be attributed to an increase in the catch-and-release ethic as well as new minimun size limit regulations." I agree with that 100% But that doens't mean pressure won't affect it and it can be ignored. But as I said....a lot has happened to our waters since 2004. If you look at the state of muskie angling in the states as far as natural stocks it only makes sense that" Ontario" has the best muskie angling in N. America. There aren't many other places to go. It would be interesting to see if a biologist would confirm the (never been better) statement today. I'll listen to anyone or group that has experience in and concern for the fishery and then through thorough analyzing , come to my own opinion. Biologist or special interest group. But back to the post I made ...it was not about muskie...it was about the waters and our fishery. M.

I believe that the resource is in need of as much help as possible. The only opinion of the regs I have is they are there for a reason , I accept that and will abide by them. With invasive species , zebra mussels, gobies ,asian carp, cormorants etc...our resource needs help!! Who knows what long term effect these will have but as history shows too many changes too fast can be horrific on nature. And you can bet they aren't the last to come. Regulations do not go far enough in some cases and too far in others but without these regs the fishery would be doomed. At a consuption level we have to not only have regulations but not exercise our full rights all the time, we don't need to have a limit every day. I believe that with not only habitat preservation but habitat restoration our waters and fish will have a fighting chance at sustaining itself. At the rate we're going in years to come you won't even be able to eat any fish and this has already started to happen in a lot of areas. Pollution is growing and new pollutions effect is not even yet known. So to sum it up ....conservation and preservation exercised our resource will survive and grow. Otherwise it's got little hope.

Corrected!

All this talk about regulating and "tightening the belt". Tell me. If you don't have regulations , then what do you have? A free for all. People complain about and insult even assault the white bucket brigade for abusing the fishery, then turn around and moan about more or changes to the regs. I find that hypocritical. And these are the same people who critize the special interest groups for actually careing and trying to bring attention to the problems.Go figure. What works today might not work tomorrow as what worked yesterday doesn't work today. It's a constantly revolving cycle. You have to meet the needs of the time. All the armchair biologist who have never taken a course or even read a single report from someone who knows but yet know more because they have fished for 20 -55 yrs..PLEASE. I guess all the people who do the studies are full of it and don't know a single thing. I don't profess to know much about the science of the fishery but I'll tell you if a group that has studied it for years tells me changes are needed now to protect it for tomorrow ...I'll listen.
