It's getting close... we'll be waiting for your next report "5lb 4oz Keeper" and we'll be wondering baby or laker. I know you'll be happy either way as long as it's healthy! It will interfere with AM/FM Radio reception when you are transmitting but I would expect the radio would be turned down or off if you are trying to call someone on the VHF. There won't be interference if you're just listening to the VHF and it won't harm anything. You can run it to you trolling motor battery or off your main battery - your AM/FM will have 12V power from the main battery and you can tap into that source. This might be getting a little beyond Wayne's expertise - maybe I'll come down and help you with it! -Brian

LOL! I'm still waiting for photos to pop up from my "lab washroom incident" at Quinte.

Wow Roy, I thought we were gonna have to notify your next of kin and put you in MTP's livewell for the ride home. I hope Glen isn't feeling as bad as you looked felt! -Brian

Great report, no pictures? I hope you get through this quick Glen!

Don't worry about mounting too close... you've got 1.5 kids already When you transmit on VHF you're only transmitting at 3-5 watts unless you are making a distress call or manually transmit on high power at 25 watts. Either way it's not enough to harm you for the odd time you will be using it. There are no emissons having the radio on or recieving. Mount to you gunwale with the option of folding the antenna forward or backward depending on the type of fishing you will be doing. If you're casting, fold it back and out of the way. If you're rigging, have it up or fold it forward. The only thing I would caution is mounting the antenna, radio and cable away from electronics and compasses. For your boat I think I would mount the antenna on the left side on the gunwale exactly half way between the front and back. Mount your radio inside the glovebox suspended from the underside of the dash. You have a battery there, it's away from your other electronics, protected from weather and away from little fingers. You can also mount an external speaker if you don't want to leave the glove box door open. It would be quick and easy to install, Wayne will probably do it for ya! -Brian

Andrea, is that you? -
He'll probably be doing a lot of this... Jimmy Bowskill at 15 yrs old. My buddy Wayne Deadder on bass, Tortoise Blue on the boards both from Big Daddy G and Al Cross on drums formally of Jane Sibery's band. When you see Jimmy play you quickly forget about his age and you become awestruck with the connection he has with that guitar. -Brian

I know where he is and there SHOULD be snow there! I think he took that picture a month ago WTG Chris, I know you were pretty excited about getting out. Let me know if you want a hand mounting that rack to your Jeep. -Brian -
I have the PVR set. Can you give us working stiffs time to watch it before the contest closes? -Brian

Well said. I've had my share of bad luck but never that much in one outting! -Brian

First question that comes to mind; Who's bed were you in?

Hey Wayne, I was going to go to LSC for one last blast in my boat but I'd be happy to join you if you're on the fence. I don't really feel like chipping the ice off my boat anyway. We could meet in the Stoney Creek area around 7 and still make the upper shortly after sun-up. -Brian

Come on Bowen! You know better than anyone to pop the rods and let 'em flutter up. Why do you need fast retrieve? By the way, Cannon is faster if you're into retrieve racing. Most riggers have auto-stop, none will stop it in time for the stackers. All have free fall but only Scotty doesn't have power down. And they're flippin' HUGE! I don't have anything against Scotty's, in fact if they were the last downrigger on earth I'd use them in a heartbeat! -Brian -

I think they pre-date Big Jon... they may be from the "getting a little husky Jon" era. -
Those of us that do wash our hands after a good pee know what a sink is. Those that don't could probably still benefit from washing thier hands in the urinal! -Brian

Rollers vs. Bunks It's my opinion that manufacturers offering lifetime hull warranties would have givin this some serious thought. If rollers are bad, why would they offer it as an upgrade on thier packages? For consideration... (hit escape to stop the music) http://www.ladyangler.com/tips.htm And from Shorelandr... (check out "R" Roller and "XR" styles) http://www.shorelandr.com/pages/t_b_style.html Emil and I have the XR style. Driving on is easy provided you haven't backed in too far. The front rollers will guide you to the snubber and once you have the strap attached and winched the rear of the boat has no choice but to be centered. On steep ramps or if you have backed in too far, walk the boat up to the snubber and pull out very slow. It will center itself as you pull out. You could benefit from guide posts in either instance. I considered them for mine but found they really weren't necessary. -Brian

Cliff, we've never met but I get the impression from the forum that you are one of the most generous people on the board with your time and know-how. I think you have a bunch more favours coming your way before breaking even! -Brian
-
Emil, try launching and loading before you make any changes. With your roller trailer you may find that you don't need them. -Brian

I'll be at your place for 6:50

Mount the puck where it has an unobstructed view 360* around with at least a 45* cone \puck/ Avoid mounting near a VHF antenna or where a full top on bimini might obstruct it. I have mine on the rear left gunwale and many people like to mount them at the bow. Getting it wet won't be an issue but it would be wise to mount it in a place that it won't be getting soaked all the time. -Brian

My point exactly. I suspect the folks at BPS would jump at the chance to satisfy you but not at the cost of adopting Tracker's problem. I wouldn't advise compounding the problem by protesting in thier parking lot. -Brian
-
Very slick site Sam, clean and fast! -Brian
-
Did you purchase the boat from BPS? Was warranty implied? If so, they should have transfered the warranty for you or at the very least made you aware of it. If you purchased the boat elsewhere you should keep BPS out of the blame equation because I suspect they are not making warranty decisions and are just an agent for the manufacturer. No matter how you look at it, it still sucks but I wouldn't give up on it. Wouldn't it be nice to have the time and money to tell Tracker that you just reserved a spot at the boat show beside thier booth and you intend to have your damaged Tracker on display? -Brian
