  1. How do you decifer what a resident and a migratory brown strain is? They are the same. Most will drop out of a river unless they are above a barrier as the water gets too warm and its in their dna to migrate. The browns we stock in the credit are from gametes of the migratory kind grown from eggs to smolts and stocked below norval. In the last few years the numbers of nice browns caught in the lower/mid credit are returning adults of the ones we stocked over the last 5-7 years in decent numbers. We are talking about the possble inshore stocking of browns around credit/humber area to possibly create a super awesome brown fishery for all to enjoy but the biggest hurdle is the cold north shore waters.
  2. Beeton Creek would run similar temps as black and silver creek which works really well for reproduction. The main river however is much warmer as it runs wide open through brampton and mississauga urbanization. Imagine how well they would all do if they were allowed to grow in close to ideal conditions. Why use a hatchery to grow chinooks when you could let them spawn on thier own.
  3. Brian , the chinnies would do fine and I'm not sure why they cant collect eggs at Norval. But the other fry need a full summer over and the water below Norval is waay too warm for the fry to survive
  4. ? The ladder in streetsville is open after the coho eggs are collected. CRAA does not "have" the fish ladder , it is operated by the MNR and we help periodically. CRAA does not brign the fish to Norval as they get up there on thier own , then they are brought to better spawning habitat. Joseph
  5. Most likely with all the wind and rain , might be better above the power dams
  6. All is well at the CRAA Hatchery We currently have Steelead , Browns , coho's and Atlantics are on thier way soon. Here's Emily workin away at the baby Steelies We Just fishing stocking 3546 Atlantics and 7880 browns. We are always looking for helpers let me know if you are interested . Joseph
  7. HH , i've always had good luck on 2and 3inch power minnows with a 1/16 oz bullet head jig. Also pink and white tubes in 1 inch work good as well. look for some dirty water in shallow ;-) Joseph
  8. If you can drop it by angling specialties i'm sure Tom can fix it quick Joseph
  9. Bunk, pretty sure its an automated counter lol , i've been thinking of putting one in our river but its hard to find an accurate one. Joseph
  10. Paul, you always praising the states for being such an awesome fishery but yet you continue to shoot your mouth off behind a computer and actually do nothing to help out on our side of the pond? Put up or shut up. Joseph
  11. I think its a big misconception that the paying clients really WANT to take the fish home and that they would not get their money's worth otherwise. Its old school thinking, look around the world , doesn;t look like out west is having any decline in customers because there are special limits in place. There are rainbows that spawn in the fall but very little , usually its a hatchery fish. Joseph
  12. Sorry to hear about your Uncle's health Mike On a Happy note I may have some waders for your son that might fit better lol ! Emily has breathables now and Erin just turned 4 , let me know. Joseph
  13. 8 or 10 lb Ande for a very long time , tried other mainlines but nothing works as good for my bad casting abilities Joseph
  14. Great details Mike , I might also add when it gets stupid cold that the fish will be in the laziest spots like slack inside seems that you normally would cast over Joseph
  15. Too funny Mike , I haven't talked to Andrew for awhile , hope he's doing well. There are lots of places to go and have some solitude , just doing a little research helps and so does a canoe. Joseph
  16. WE can count just fine Snidley CRAA's not doing enough for the fishery because you're not there , we would love more of your quality input Joseph
  17. Bill i'm not bashing Marc , do you fish the grand when its 90 degrees outside? Wouldn't it be kind of the same thing?
  18. So because its HIS liveleyhood its OK to target fish knowing that it could be detrimental to the fish even though the intention is catch and release? I'm confused
  19. Cudo's to Marc for reviving a beutiful fish but would it not make more sense to just not target them when its stupid hot out? Joseph
  20. Angling Specialties and Fishing World in Hamilton should have it Joseph
  21. Circle hooks is what you need man and not small ones, we were getting trout over 5 lbs down there a few weeks ago. I think mustad makes em. Good Luck ! Joseph
  22. Paul where so you get your info from? The Atlantic program is alive and well and benefits a lot of other things in its path. CRAA is backtracking? what the hell does that even mean? Everytime you post you make negative comments about CRAA and others but yet you continue to do NOTHING to help the fishery, please go away. Joseph Ward CRAA Hatchery Manager
  23. Paul if you think new york and Penn are doing well you are a moron , when is the last time the Catt fished well. And no offense to erie fish but they are a far cry from Lake O wild steelhead I wont even bother going down that way anymore. Stocked fish are boring the end...
  24. Thanks for the kind words Mike ! Yeah we keep inviting Snidley to come and help with the fish ladder , the hatchery , the boat launch, the tree planting and many other events but no he's too busy whinning from behind his computer Joseph
