  1. amazing, as always CC It seems like I work everytime we get a rain. ANd I get to fish when its crystal clear. one day...
  2. stressed out? No. more determined? Absolutley Ive been skunked steelheading for over a month now, havent landed one since late november. Im a little stressed about that, but its not because Ive been skunked, its because Ive gone somewhere around 0- 10. I was doing fine up till december and now I can't keep one on the dang hook. I thought Id broken it last weekend when low and behold, after an intense battle the fish gives one last burst and takes me, hook line and sinker. I will not rest until a steelhead is in my hands. well maybe not, seeing as I only get out once a week at most..loll
  3. Definatly was, I saw talked to him in passing while he was holding the fish, a beauty for sure! Very clean.
  4. Heres a picture...I found it rather interesting. Yes, that is a basketball, and a huge pile of trash on the far bank. Camera phone, crappy picture
  5. Oshawa is bad for the garbage, Today I probably could have collected 20 bucks worth of empties. Alot of this trash around here isnt from anglers, its from parties. THis is, after all, oshawa...lol
  6. You make it look easy, and it definatly isnt. Awesome
  7. Awesome, and keep that ice wherever it is, because I dont want it! Theres more steelheading to be done!
  8. Went steelheading today, and after the first few hours of nothing the fishing picked up for a short period of time. In total today I saw 3 fish landed, and heard of 5 others being caught, one of which was a massive hen that must have given the guy some battle. I drifted a pool that I knew had been worked hard all morning, but the creek was low and its one of the few deep spots. First drift I hooked into what would have been my personal best steelhead. Not expecting a steelhead of that size (12 poundsish) this time of year (ROOKIE) I was a little worried about my 4 pound test leader, and I was right to be worried. I was doing as CC said and "bass fishing" them, right up close to the sticks and logs and crap. The fish hit like a ton of bricks and after battling it for a while it took one more run towards the log jam and the 4 lb test just couldnt handle it. Boy was I shaken up, I hate loosing big fish like that! In the next half an hour I lost 2 more fish, and a guy that I was fishing with for a while (never got the name, possibly an OFNer) had missed a few as well. After the quick flurry of action there was nothing for another 2 hours, when the city decided it was a good day to drive the backhoes into the creek and trample my pool. Tried to fish around all the crap for a while, but when a basketball drifted by, I decided id had enough and went home. All in all an exciting outing, and maybe ill actually land one of these buggeres soon, Ive been in a drought for a while now!
  9. I must have missd you today, I was at oshawa from about 11am untill 3. Fishing really turned on for about an hour around 1, I missed 2 fish and battled a third right to the end where it turned and snapped my 4 lb leader. There was another group that had 5 fish, and I talked to a guy carrying a HUGE hen. Lots of fish, just hard to catch when the water is like it is. FInal total for me was 0/3 today, ill be back tomorrow.
  10. Wood, deep water, sounds good. 7 AM...not gonna happen because mom isnt wakin up to drive me fishin at 7 AM on january 3rd and I cant have the car. Oh well, we do what we can
  11. Beauty, Im liking these reportsm gives me a little moreconfidence for tomorrow ive been skunked for a while
  12. WOW CC! Im headin out tomorrow morning, Oshawa... any tips for me? lol, Im armed with fresh roe, jigs and pink worms that I picked up yesterday after slipping and loosing most of my stuff to the river because a pocket in the vest was open. Hopefully Ill have the same results!
  13. If your looking at rods check out Fenwicks, Ive got one and I love it to death. Its really tough, light and sensitive but also has enough backbone to fish salmon. At 11.5 feet (I think) its perfect for drifting the smaller rivers that I fish, but im sure it would handle bigger ones as well.
  14. Since I dont icefish, or sled, or move from my couch during the winter....IM LOVIN IT! I miss snowboarding but all that means is that im saving money, so bring on the warm weather, mountain biking and bass fishin! (but give me a few more months to steelhead)
  15. Really simple way to stop from being infected... DONT OPEN EMAILS FROM RANDOM ADRESSES THAT YOU DONT KNOW
  16. Nice fish bro. I keep tellin myself that I need to get out more, but I never seem to. Hopefully this weather holds up and I can get out the next 3 days!

  21. There is was no open water around the causeway as of 3 days ago, and since its been a little colder I dont imagine there is now.
  22. I have a picture of my sitting in my carseat (strapped in) at the side of a lake with a fishin rod in my hand and my dad fishin beside me. First fish was a mud cat out of the cranberry whats his name.
  23. I work at no frills, pays for my fishing and other hobbies. Not bad for being 17.
  24. CC how do you do it? Ive been fishin for 2 months in the cold and only have 2 shakers and 2 lost steels to show for it.
  25. The past three days here in oshawa my buddies and I have been playing road hockey. So whats so good about that you ask? Dont all Canadian guys play road hockey? Well, yes, but not always in T shirts on december 20th, 21st and 22nd! This weather is way to weird, usually were out playin on the ponds by now, but not this year. I hate the cold personally, but BRING ON THE ICE! I may not be an ice fisherman, but a concerned pond hockey enthusiast!
