  1. Crazy eh? I tried skating some surface patterns this spring in the low gin conditions with hungry droppies. I got a couple to follow but I couldnt get them to commit!
  2. they get a little sluggish as the water gets colder. Some days you have to basically bump them in the nose with a juicy roebag to get them to bite so I would assume that hardware would become less effective yes
  3. You guys sure...I totally thought my float rod could handle me yanking a 500 pound log out of the back of the hole
  4. I buy alot of stuff there and it always shows up between 2/3 days.
  5. I built an 11'6" last year and it was a really cool experience although as it turns out I was not looking for an 11'6" float rod and it hardly sees action. I built a st. croix blank, split grip design with pac bay aluminum reel seat, fuji guides, and cheap cork... My biggest piece of advice is instead of making it flashy, make it practical. The rod I built is beautiful, and I love to look at it but it is far from being the best float rod I have to fish with. The split grip resulted in far too much length behind the reel which kills the available power in the butt of the rod, the cheap cork is too thin and doesn't fit well in my hand. My worst mistake was getting too anxious, take your time with it and come out with something you really want, vs something that looks real good but doesnt function quite as you hoped. Dont go cheap on the cork, and also remember that the blank will have a much faster action before it is tied then after. Good luck!
  6. I had to get one the board give me a break! loooooooooooose hens
  7. Thanks Chris. Info sent to both emails. Again trying to AVOID the atlantic debate...this thread can go to rest now the proper people have been contacted
  8. I don't want to start a debate here so Ill keep it simple.. Can anyone with knowledge of the Atlantic stocking programs or any general knowledge about Ontario atlantics please PM me or email me at kemper_35 (at) hotmail.com I have some questions and information that I think might REALLY interest someone involved in the Atlantic program
  9. Its just bright ars orange fly backing...el cheapo
  10. Picture credits go to Silvio....I just caught the fish. "Dude, jam your reel into the weeds"
  11. Just ask Dave how to get those fish in the gin... twitch, twitch, pop, SMASH
  12. If we were countin dimes this weekend we would have had a few bucks thats for sure. That said, I think I lost a few bucks too...freshly minted dimes are crazy! Good fishin boys, see ya next weekend
  13. Can't be, I hear he spends all day at work tyin bags!
  14. full contact fishin this weekend boys, get your armour on
  15. That is AWESOME. Gives me an idea... turbo VTEC K series....attach a prop and VOILA!
  16. I dont know much about marine engines....but has anyone tried to squeeze a bunch of power out of a 2.0 with the addition of a turbo? I would assume that a marine engine could be boosted just as a car engine is?
  17. I have one....actually I have two but they just don't cut it when I fish the bigger water out here. The east tribs are fine but the bigger ones not so much In fact I do, lets weigh the options.... Buy a totally new rod all by myself... $250 BASE Wait months to get a free replacement that is never the one youre actually supposed to get....no thanks Pay the $30 and be fishin again in a week.... Sweet deal!
  18. Was for the replacement part. I can't quite decide if it was my fault or the rod just blew up...I was fishing up tight to a big limestone wall and had just landed a beauty bow, rod may have (probably did) come in contact with the rock behind me during the fight. Next cast the tip blew up. That said I have heard the IM6 is known for that...but I have used (abused) it for a while and this was the first problem
  19. Last week I busted my Raven float rod, about a foot up from the bottom of the tip section. Fearing my fall season was toast I sent it in for warranty from Kingsway Tackle in Guelph. It was shipped out from Kingsway last thursday, and I have it in my hands today with a brand new tip section. Cost me $30 bucks. Awesome if you ask me, I have dealt with warranty issues with alot of companies and this was by far the best experience I have ever had (it once too me 6 months to get a reel from Okuma). Thanks Raven, Its stuff like this that keeps customers around
  20. That hole has been killin me this year! Good fishin man!
  21. no look for a used one, if your looking for something around a hundred keep your eyes out for someone selling a raven matrix. Its not the best pin out there and certainly not the prettiest but it is bulletproof and will do the job until you decide if you want to upgrade or not
  22. Tying your own bags is definitely the best bet....maybe you know someone who can give you a hand? Those store tied bags are terrible...seem to be more plastic then eggs
  23. Wish you hadn't told me that, although I have heard sounds and caught glimpses of what I though may have been a big yote....tried to put it at the back of my mind lol
  24. No, you cant shoot those deer. Someone was arrested a while back trying to pull one out in the middle of the night. There is a big buck down there that I run into while float fishing if I am down there before sunup
  25. easier to remove cork and fit a seat then recork the back half then to remove a reel seat
