  1. Here's a few to look at...I've cropped them the best I can, so if you recognize the spot good for you - fish it in the spring when it's open again. By far the most fun fish in the river. Kemper
  2. If you had found a fresh run of browns and bows would you have posted that? ...I don't understand why posts like this continue to happen, or why they are allowed to continue. Posting names of small rivers (even lakes) on a forum with as many members as this is a brutal idea

    Bronte

I hooked 14 today, you guys are hacks! Wait...I'm not supposed to use a musky treble with 5oz of lead taped to it
  4. The flexcoat is old, but has been sealed and kept in a drawer...I think the problem is a bad mix. I did measure it with the syringes, must have been lazy on the actual mixing part. I think the humidity also plays a part, I had the same issue with a float rod that I built in very humid weather although it did eventually cure properly. I wondered about another thin coat, but I'm not sure how it will react with a half-dried base coat. I'll give it another 12 hours, and if it hasn't cured I'll try a thin coat
  5. Hopefully some of the rod builders can help out on this one... After a really long process (I usually build in the winter when cabin fever sets in, less motivated in the summer) I finally got all the guides wrapped on an ultralight I've been building. Mixed a batch of flexcoat the same way as always, I've built 5 rods now and never had an issue before but this batch just doesn't want to dry. Its been about 36 hours now and still quite tacky. It has dried enough that it is keeping its form, not drooping on me, but just doesn't seem to want to harden. Any tips? Thanks Kemper
  6. I guess nobody has almost been taken out by a tinner full of drunk "fishermen"? The police are out there doing their job. Granted, power does get abused from time to time, but would you prefer dealing with a few police searches or be blindsided by a fishing boat at 40mph driven by some drunken fool? I've always figured I have no problem with being searched, if I'm not hiding anything...
  7. Used to shop there all the time, actually knew the guy that owned it. Best part is that I had NO IDEA... They get my vote also, although I believe that the owner passed recently and his son is now running the shop. Hands down the lowest prices around for terminal tackle (especially float gear)
  8. I pay 5% on my LOC, but I am a student (read: unsecured). Line of credit is probably the way to go.
  9. But wasn't it worth it? I mean where else can you find those fish that "don't exist"...
  10. Great pics bud, what a morning that was. Loosing count of fish is one thing, but loosing count of triple headers is a whole different ball game
  11. I never go lighter than 6 pound lead, and I'm usually closer to 8. With a decent flouro it is completely unnecessary to run lead that light.
  12. Hey, I recognize those fish... Nice shots bud, I still think there are 2 missing from that bunch
  13. BINGO! That was refreshing, finally someone took the time to educate themselves on a topic before spouting off nonsense. Anyone who thinks that a politician can simply lower gas prices outside of a short term tax break (read: band-aid fix)is seriously mistaken.

    Finally

Cheers Mike, Let me know if you want to get out, we're due for one
  15. I've seen the pictures from Nabob's guiding adventures up there, definitely an opportunity of a lifetime. Not too many places in the world that can boast fishing like NWT. Good luck Nabob, under different circumstances I'd be all over that!
  16. Go it - thanks. Looks like no open areas on the West end of the lake....stateside it is
  17. I've been trying to access the online version of the regs all day - I'm not sure if the error is on my end or theirs but my browser keeps crashing when I try to open the file (brand new Sony Vaio - everything else works...) If someone could help me out with the open section of Bronte creek that would be great. I'm assuming that it would be south of the 403 but I don't like guessing on these things... Cheers, Kemper
  18. I had an old integra that passed...300 000kms, drank a quart of oil every tank and spewed blue smoke out the back so bad the bumper was black all the time. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
  19. That is what I thought... but the co-op department has posted eleven (11) jobs since the beginning of January - There are something like 350 co-op students. Thanks! I didn't even think about BDC even though my last job had me in contact with them (on the entrepreneur side, looking for money) Looks like I got the application in just in time. I did, although it looks like most of the federal jobs are in Ottawa this summer Thanks Kemper
  20. Hi OFC, I haven't been around much - school and a couple full time co-op terms have kept me busy for the past year. On that note its time again to search for a summer co-op position in my field (economics, finance or business development) that is located reasonably close to Guelph or Oshawa. If there are any opportunities out there that anyone knows of suitable for a 3rd year Economics & Finance student with some very solid experience I would greatly appreciate it if you could PM me the details. I'm not looking for any type of 'OFC deal' here - I'm just trying to make myself aware of as many opportunities as possible. I'd be happy to discuss my experience and any specifics off the forum. Thanks for any help - and mods if this is too far off topic feel free to give it the boot Braden (kemper)
  21. Wasn't looking to open the lining can (bucket?) of worms - glad it stayed civil. Nothing against the host either, he does run an entertaining show and from what I can see treats the fish properly.
  22. I didn't know that about Sockeye - maybe something that they should have explained while they were explaining the technique
  23. I wasn't sure about the legality...and I'm not surprised to hear that it is in fact legal but I am surprised that they would explicitly explain that is how they were doing it.
  24. Did anyone else just watch as the guide on Discovery's River Monsters explained how to line spawning sockeye...? "Lead shot two feet from the hook - trying to get the line into their open mouths..." Interesting Kemper
