  1. Spent the last 6 days down in sunny Florida, soaking up the sun getting a tan and doing a bit of fishing. The weather down there this year has been pretty cold, when we landed in Florida on Tuesday it was 60 degrees The water was also extremely dirty compared to what is was the last time I was down there. None the less the oldman and I made it out to our fav spot (Honeymoon Island State Park) and tried our best. First couple of days netted us nothing but small grunts and blue runners. We did find some rocks and the oldman hooked into a few small sheephead.. These fish have some wicked teeth, used to crush the shells of their food. Keep your fingers away.. The last day of our trip and there was a good 20mph SW wind that pushed in the warmer water and the fish. We pretty much hammered ladyfish and whitings the entire day. I did get a bonus pompano and my oldman got a jack about 3-4lbs. That took a good 20 mins to bring in Along with the ladies and whitings, we picked up some spanish mackerel. I was bit off twice by something that had a lot of weight, my guess was either a big mackerel or a bonnethead shark. Caught two of them last year, but no sharks this year unfortunately. Although the warm water was nice and getting a tan was even better, I'm ready to get back to steelhead slaying.
  2. Mike, I expected nothing less from you and Ferg. Looks like an awesome couple of days. Great report man!!!
  3. Kemper, that's not a chop..
  4. We have a 55lb Powerdrive on our 15' Legend. No complaints about it at all, lasts a good 2 days on a deep cycle battery. Extremely pleased with it. The foot pedal takes some getting used to, I cheat all the time and use my hands
  5. Good luck with the bones
  6. My oldman uses the Nautilus charger from Canadian Tire on the deep cycle we have for the bowmount, works great.
  7. No offense at all man, now I know what to look out for
  8. Erik, that looks like a rainbow smolt to me... Very similar to the ones I've caught while brookie fishing in the Notty headwaters.
  9. I wouldn't have wasted it either, I was just playing devils advocate
  10. Small immature pike have vertical banding like a muskie does. I know a wackload of the ones we pull out of the French River do anyhow.
  11. I don't think it's a question of being ethical when the law clearly states that you must release any game fish caught on a set line. Dead or not, legally it should have gone back down the hole.
  12. Ride the Lightning or Whiplash.
  13. White stuff in Barrie.. Thank god I'm leaving for Florida on Tuesday!!!!
  14. Craigslist or Kijijji.ca I found one for my S10 for $120...

What a life... Spend 6 years underground, get up, don't eat a damn thing, find a bunch of women, have lots of sexy time, then die.
  16. It's going to be blown, along with every other eastern trib. Stay home.
  17. I have no issues loading the hifi version on my HTC touch. However, with the lofi, it doesn't seem that we can login and check PM's?
  18. The gold blade + black body with the little green spots have worked pretty good for me. I like that fact that I can slow my retrieve down with the PM's and not have the spinner sink to the bottom (Like the blue fox do)
  19. You should use that pic for some Riverwood advertising, would make a good pamphlet photo. Nice fish, great colours.
  20. Nope, the oldman and I are usually hitting Gloucester, GBay, etc etc.. We never head south, lol
  21. I feel like such an idiot living in Barrie for 3 years and never wetting a line in Simcoe... I gotta change that this year.

Are we actually having a debate about killing lampreys? I wouldn't stomp it into the ground either but I wouldn't feel bad at all about slicing it's head off..
  23. Make sure you have a map of the local area, GBay is not a place to run around without a map. If you are fishing for pike, you might wanna pick up some dead bait before you leave. That would most likely be your best bet for pike in May. It really does depend on the water temp though, if it's warmed up they would have already started to move out on the weed edges.
  24. I thnk headlights on a boat would be worse then someone driving with their highbeams on, can you imagine the reflection off the water? From what I've read, they are illegal in most states, I would *assume* they'd most likely be illegal here to.
