  1. Awesome job Johnny! Nothing like humping it into a small back lake and getting rewarded for it My last few trips have been absolute skunkaroos!!! hahaha
  2. Good job man!! Best advice I can give you is to not cast upstream from your standing position. All you'll end up with is a bunch of slack line and a headache. Either cast across from you, or slightly downstream.. Keep your rod up, the line off the water and hold on You can also mend the line like you would when you're flyfishing (You don't want your line downstream of your float)..
  3. This sounds like a cripple fight!! It's like two old man racing with walkers, lol!!!!!
  4. That's gotta be the Salmon, lol.
  5. I wished I fished in places that would allow backcasts like that, lol!!! Usually it's so friggin tight I'm roll casting or casting upstream then pulling a 90degree turn to land the fly on the water. Tis still fun though!
  6. Crap, I forgot to mention my '99 Jetta TDI with almost 600,000kms on it before I retired it. Other then routine maintenance (brakes, TB, etc) it was bulletproof. It also pulled a best tank of 1428kms for 55L's of fuel.
  7. Pft.....fly fishing.. I kid I kid!! Super addicting, especially when you're chasing big resident browns
  8. MKVI Golf TDI. More hp and trq then your Civic, much safer, way better interior (ie it doesn't sound like a tin can when you shut the door) and get's better mileage. Lot's of fun to drive as well There are options out there, you just need to look.
  9. Nissan? I thought you were talking about real trucks, probably why no one mentioned the Tundra either :)
  10. The 55 is the height of the sidewall, which is actually a percentage of the width. So 55% of 215mms is the sidewall height (215 x 0.55 = 118.25mm) It's got nothing to do with the width of the tire. If the OP can find 16in rims that will fit, go for it.
  11. Just a sec... The 6.5 was based on the 6.2 which was actually made by Detroit Diesel. Nothing to do with the Olds engine.. GMc should have stuck with the 6.2.. The 6.5 was a horrible POS, lol.
  12. Sweet, while you're hunting deer I'll be hunting steelies!
  13. Go to South America, they have them there.
  14. That's the plan. We didn't touch the steelhead population on Sunday, lol!!!
  15. Sorry to hear about your mom Dave Hopefully we'll hookup while you're down here.
  16. Fantastic report man, that Aurora is a beauty!!!!
  17. I can't break 6lb Fireline with my hands, I think it's good enough for Simcoe whities and lakers. Hell, my pier setup uses 6lb Fireline and I've had no problem with 30+lb Lake O chinooks. As for a leader, its usually 4-6lb Drennan. If someone has a good reason for me to go heavier, I'm all ears.
  18. 500k no problem? Duramax, Cummins or a Powerstroke. Pick one. Personally I'd go with the Duramax/Allison combo if you're hauling crap all the time.
  19. Browns are fall spawners, steelhead are spring spawners (For the most part) Browns usually spawn, then head back out to the lake. Steelhead will winter in the river, spawn in the spring then head back to the lake.
  20. Only rivers that aren't going to be blown are those high gradient freestone rivers. Not many of those around.. I am fishing this weekend, but not anywhere close to here, lol.
  21. I love my S10 ZR2, but if I was buying new, it would definitely be a fullsized truck for me. The inline 5 cyls are anything but good on fuel. If I was going to get another 'small' truck, it would be a Tacoma.
  22. Centerpinangling.com will have your stuff to you in two days.. Super quick shipping, love that place.
  23. The line twist flouro is famous for drives me crazy. I spooled up with it once, never again. If I'm jigging whities and lakers in 100ft of water, 4lb-6lb Fireline Crystal with a 24-36inch flouro leader. For perch in the shallower stuff I find the Berkley Ice line works pretty good (The blue stuff)..
