  1. Wayne, I've very surprised he let you bring that into the boat, lol!!!!
  2. Dan, you love those toothy critters! :)
  3. The 'Nanofil' knot is a palomar with a double loop. Super simple to tie.
  4. Yeah, I don't quite agree with the whole whitefish die off, etc.. Guys found them, just not in the normal places. I know lots of fish were caught really shallow this year, think perch like depths, lol.
  5. Terry is a stone cold killer, lol!
  6. As Bruce said, the Islands + trout doesn't make much sense.
  7. Same places you fish for them through the ice. The floattilla out on Simcoe won't be hard to spot, lol. Follow the crowds.
  8. I hate watching the Leafs after a 3 day lay off. They always come out flat, todays game was a great example.
  9. Nice job man!!! Should have gone for the Sahara
  10. Guys catching chinooks in the river really need to get out on the lake and catch one when they look like this.. No other fish in fresh water really compares...
  11. The BPS fly shop should have all kinds of leader with pre-made loops in them. That's pretty much the only place I buy mine.
  12. Spring...errr summer laker trip with new motor? I like the sound of that! lol
  13. You should never be breaking your leader instead of your tippet.. And yeah if you snap your tippet and there isn't much left, re-tie a new piece onto your leader. The leader isn't entirely tapered. There's probably a 2-3ft section on a 9ft leader that's not tapered. So you've got some leeway when having to re-tie your tippet without getting into the tapered section.
  14. The Notty is blown to all hell.. I'm going to hit Lake O on Sunday.. I'll fish residents after the craziness is over. No big rush.
  15. So at that place it really doesn't matter because you're barely even casting, lol. I run 9ft leaders on my 4wt with another few feet of tippet if I'm tossing dries. I don't dare bring my flyrod into that place man, a small UL setup works for me in there.
  16. I've always run a leader, doesn't matter what I'm doing to be honest. It's not as important when your nymphing or tossing streamers like torco mentioned, but if you're trying to fish dries, it would almost be impossible.. The taper in the leader helps the fly turn over and land softly on the water. Without it, the line would just coil up and the fly would drop pretty much straight down, lol. Your presentation wouldn't be very natural at all...
  17. I can't imagine how he's turning over dries without a tapered leader.
  18. So you aren't making your leader shorter and shorter everytime you remove flies...
  19. Without the leader being the proper length or losing the taper, you'll have a hard time turning over flies.. Especially dries... It needs replacing. If you were tossing big streamers it really wouldn't matter.
  20. Seeing that resident trout and Lake O open water fishing will be on the table, here's one for each.
  21. West Marine does as well, that's where I bought mine.
  22. Add another Guest onboard charger to the list as well.
  23. Speaking of putting in the trailer to deep, I've found out that with a roller trailer, you barely even need to get it wet, lol. That being said we've got load guides on our trailer, really does help when it's extremely windy out, or if I'm by myself.
  24. If you want lakers in the summer time on Simcoe, you need to be dragging bottom.. Doesn't have to be with riggers, but something.
