I've had bad experiences with both. Going to Rogers will only make you happy for a short while, but I bet it felt good =) I left Bell as soon as I had to use the phone in the store to get service. Still can't get over that. I don't think they're the only company that does that either.

Mr. Trololo (Eduard Khil) actually just passed away last week. RIP Mr. Trololo. How about the World's Happiest DJ??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7H7p80kZN8

I just moved to London last fall and often make trips to Lambeth Rod & Tackle. I agree, it's a nice little shop and the owner has always been helpful.

Looks like a great trip! Thanks for putting it up, always nice to read. -
Taking my 4 yr old lil gal fishing puts me in the hospital

I am pretty sure that is incorrect. If you have experienced a severe allergic reaction you are considered at risk for anaphylaxis. Anyone at risk will have been prescribed an Epipen. An anaphylactic reaction can happen at any time in subsequent reactions. It's unpredictable as well as the severity of the reaction. -
Interesting story! I think I'll have to find that issue of NG myself.

I am going to have to try that myself, sounds like a good approach. I don't use a fly rod but toss out pike flies with spinning gear. I have been using the tie-able leader from TyGar and Cortland. So far it's worked fine, but I haven't hooked into anything >30" yet.

Nice report. I was surprised there wasn't much discussion about the golf courses. Wouldn't these be a large source of phosphorous runoff?? I don't really know, but I assume they use plenty of fertilizer and pesticides. Anyway, that's another topic... Anyway, it's nice to see the lake getting some love. I only had the opportunity to fish there once during the winter - targeted walleye and caught herring and musky, go figure. I always wanted to go back and try for some musky in the fall sometime.

I like the Kawartha Lakes for my family getaways. The prices are usually reasonable compared to places in the Muskokas, the fishing can be good and they are close to Toronto. However, they are more likely to be around $800 to $1000; something at $500 might be hard to find, but getting a last minute deal is always possible, especially if you go private. One of my go to places is Muskie Bay Resort on Rice lake. The owners take good care of their property. The beach is small, but big enough for the kids and they have an pool as well. Their rental boats are really nice and reasonably priced as well [which is the main reason I started going there before I was even married]. There are plenty of other nice places on Rice Lake as well. So far of all the cottage resorts I've been to in the Kawarthas, the nicest ones have been on Rice Lake. My family is also sharing a cottage at Marricks Landing on Lovesick Lake with some friends this year. They said it was a great family place, but I have never been. Good luck!

Lol, wth?!??! At least we now know that those old body piercing holes make good jig holders

Not sure of all the details, but if it were me I would have at least expected a phone call to let me know they were going to sell the motor if I didn't come give a deposit or buy it outright. I'd start to look elsewhere because that is likely the first in a long string of future problems.

Cookslavs Specktacular 2012 Algonquin report

Awesome! What an adventure that must have been. Glad the guys that tipped were OK. I decided to wear my PFD all the time now because you just never know. -
Tell him he can meet you there.

Thanks for the write up. May came and went so fast I didn't even see it =( What did you use at the top of your modified trebles for the spinners? Just head cement or is it shrink wrap?
-
Lol, I know what you mean. I think you have it worse than me though. Although, I am at the point that I feel that I have way too much stuff and end up buying stuff for other people instead.

Shower with my fishing rod? Lol, I think not.

What's that River in Keswick Called and is There Good Fishing?
adempsey replied to rhymobot's topic in General Discussion
Holland River? Never fished it, but it's popular for perch and crappie. I bet there's pike and bass as well. I am not all that familiar with the area, but I drove up to the end of Bathurst and there is a small marina there. I'd suggest asking on the lakesimcoemessageboard.com -
Thanks for the report. Some great shots there! I love Georgian Bay when nobody is around.

The Long And Winding Road To Back Country Brook Trout

Awesome report! Would love to have such an adventure (well, minus being stalked by a bloodthirsty wolf!). Looking forward to your Dusey River report. Have a safe trip. -
I'll bet they will never forget being on the water and catching those fish!! Great stuff!

I'd look for a private rental. My buddy goes up there all the time with his family and rents private cottages. Plenty of sites that list rentals. Good luck! http://www.rentcottage.com/browse_by_area.cfm?area=lions%20head http://www.rentcottage.com/browse_by_area.cfm?area=tobermory http://www.thebrucepeninsula.ca/cottages-for-rent-bruce-peninsula.html?catid=25 http://www.cottageportal.com/SaubleBeachCottageRentals.cfm http://www.cottagesincanada.com/cottage-rentals/ontario/bruce-peninsula-lake-huron

Wow, awesome trip! Thanks for posting the report. Heck, you even got to fish with Aldous Snow!! (j/k )

Wow I had no idea. Hope everyone recovers from this soon. The destructive power of water never ceases to amaze me. Also, I don't think that photo is fake, but I would agree it probably is from somewhere else.

The only fused line I have used is Fireline and that's only for ice fishing. The line performs great for ice fishing. Maybe I'll see how it works on one of my spinning outfits this year but my recollection is that it performs poorly.
