  2. Yes---Farm run off is leaving it's trail in places here as well---similar result---herbicides..pesticides...and real tall corn crops And as far as our labour costs reaching theirs---I would hope in fairness that their labour costs and currency would strive to meet ours--instaed of the reverse Our families may have issues paying those 400K houses in Toronto on Bejing wages and benefits

  5. Ya know I've had opportunity to drill the big dog---but me and him have had an agreement for some time he leaves me alone and I'll do likewise I know lots of hunters say they hurt their hunting---but I usually get what I'm after I always look at it---he was huntin on this land long before I came along
  6. I spent a lot of time over the years hunting on my own (or with all my friends as I like to say ) I recall one Fall morn--right at 1st light----fog so thick could'nt see anywhere---so I park my butt under an old pine tree and try and wait it out so of course I give my deer call a couple grunts---couple mins later I get a timber howlin to my left---and again even with my 06---the hair on the back of my neck stands up Then one answers straight ahead---then a 3rd answers to the right---now it gives a real uneasy feelin bein in the great out nowhere----when this is goin on with fog so thick ya can hardly see the end of the gun barrel I've had it 3x in my life when they've called to "Surround" me---every time either calf moose callin or deer callin
  7. i know at times---wolves will even kill their own dogs don't stand much chance
  8. Again I've heard Many times where wolves lure dogs away---dogs not heard from again
  9. I've been up close and personal in my life with timbers.....some have brown in their fur Quick true story....one day my son and I were headed off on a trail by a min of 8 wolves in NW Ontario---and yes we were close enough to see the teeth snarl any way we just kept shootin above their heads (12 ga birdshot was all we had)---they eventually let us by---but they tracked us out to the truck anyway a couple days later---I'm alone---and even with a 30 cal...you get an uneasy feeling---now I need to head down that same trail---so here's Hero boy...alone in the forest---long ways from anyone....so what do I do?? Yep stand at the hill before headin down the trail and yell....."That's right boys...it's me...Dr. Venkman" Yet another loonie moment in a long list from painter boy---good thing no one was around--they'd lock me up I told the story to my buddy who talked to an old trapper---he figured the pack had something down--that's why they did'nt want to leave Actually I've got quite a few wolf encounters ---couple bear one as well
  10. Did it have yellow eyes when you saw them in the bush?? I've heard Many times where they'll lead dogs away towards a pack---does'nt end well for the dog 120 lbs sounds too big for a coyote
  11. Cool I thought this was just another Kardashian sighting at the Eaton Centre
  12. I actually have good luck with Bell and don't really have much to complain about
  13. My brothers claim they're no good at it---they seem to be good at holdin a glass and watchin me tho
  14. How do ya clean a deer again??...step on it's wings and pull it's antlers?? I just wished there was somebody else that knew how to clean fish other than me???
  15. Funny thing....I usually catch walleyes when I set out for them...lots of lakes in Ontario with lots of walleyes---ya want one near Pembroke??--I can catch 3-8 lbers with regularity I don't fish Nip---Too many people (maybe that's another part of the problem)...and I'm like an OFC member here from the Kawarthas...I really don't want to be around people...cept I don't hunt ducks
  16. Mmmm..a well thought out response...leaning towards tolerance....understanding and the law of the land....deals struck before Any of us were born Grumpy....I may just save ya a seat in my boat (long as ya don't mind be blindfolded to the spot )
  17. I remember renting a cottage near Elk Lake On in the 80's It was at lost lake----walleye fishing at the time sucked---the owner was pushing the fact that area camp owners were running a walleye hatchery to replenish the stocks so they could stay open There was No nets on these smaller lakes---pressure got them to that point But again--this is about Nip
  18. I would talk some common sense about Golden Lake but I realize this thread was about Nipissing Because I and my relatives got to witness 1st hand how Natives that looked very much like southern Ontario white guys snagged "Huge spawning walleyes out of the Bonnechere river at Deacon in the 70's and filled the backs of pick up trucks...with the motto---If we don't take em--somebody else will See finger pointing goes many ways Golden lake is not that big...and yes the nets do hurt the fishery---but so do all the camps...cottages ...trailer parks...that hit the lake relentlessly from opener to ice--and don't forget the ice huts that leave lines in 24/7 Again---easy to find the easy villain
  19. Don't sweat it grumpy fish.....sometimes the fingers hit enter before all the thoughts are laid out I do believe what your saying as part of the issue,.....as well as the nets....as well as the lake personality changes....as well as climate change....as well as pollution.. as well as technological improvements (See Grand Banks NFLD)......etc etc etc And If you fish walleyes much...you'll know the migratory patterns of the fish---and know that the boats are where the fish are---so if the boats are not currently in that area---likely the walleyes are not either....save a straggler or 6 And for the ??????? time...this problem is not a one criminal issue......and those that predicate this...are looking for a scapegoat that's an easy target ---nicely wrapped into one neat bow Life is easier if theirs a villain to blame ....collect the angry villagers....who all think alike to validate our lack of answers to a complex problem Maybe the political posters are right...maybe I should get educated
  20. You do realize there is a non native commercial fishery on the great lakes
