TroutnMuskieHunter replied to walleyejigger's topic in General Discussion
Great topic..... I can vouch for what works here on the Ottawa R....SHINERS....Golden or Emerald, they both produce... Here's some pics of the "hat trick" I got a couple of hours ago using Shiners -
lol ....that's exactly what I was thinking Wayne!!

Recommendation for a quad mechanic?
TroutnMuskieHunter replied to cityfisher's topic in General Discussion
Was it stored indoors or out and when did it start acting up???? -
Most trucks have tie down points on the insides of the box.... Tie a rope or cable across the tie down points at the front of the box and attach a pulley to it and then to your snowblower...then it's just a matter of slowly letting it go down your ramps..

.... OK Paul, let's get it done next Saturday....7:00AM?????
-
Jacques mon chum....I wasn't going to burst your bubble last night after seeing that smile on your face but today's a different story The WALLEYE skunk is still on ......Sauger, Perch and Walleye all belong to the same family but are different!!! We can't bring the cigars out yet until we see you holding a true Walleye
-
Dave, 2 out of the six little dinks were Saugers Jacques, I had a blast with you and Paul and you're both more then welcome to come out to the house next weekend for another kick at the can....I'm sure Kevin will join us this time as well!!! I will be out all weekend and every afternoon this week Don, no shack this year ....I still have over 90 eight foot logs that are stacked up in front of the shack that are blocking access for me to pull it out ..... and now I have to keep listening to my darling wife's favorite saying "I told you so"....The plan was to cut and split the rest of the load of firewood once I couldn't get out on the softwater any more...I kinda got into a trance of seeking Muskie every weekend including a few trips to Quinte...Maria kept saying "you better finish cutting your wood before it gets too late", but who listens to their wives? Then we got that huge dump of snow followed by +10 degree highs then -20 lows and I'm stuck looking at a bunch of frozen logs until the spring!! Come on out next weekend with the lads!!....if it's too cold you can fish out of your truck with the door open!!

Looks like a couple of great days on the ice!!...Nice looking trout for sure....thanks for sharing

I wasn't implying that you were targeting Lakers centerpin_drift!!....I was just stating that it's common to hook onto a Walleye when you're actually fishing for lakers WHEN THE SEASON IS OPEN

Full Moon....how was your fishing today?
TroutnMuskieHunter replied to TroutnMuskieHunter's topic in General Discussion
Hey Jacques, I normally don't go out until around 3:30PM because the walleye bite doesn't seem to turn on until around 4:00 through to around 5:15PM....but, you guys can come out a lot earlier if you want to try for some Pike and Perch...I can't find yours or Paul's phone numbers so give me a call at home!!...You guys can either walk out or follow my truck tracks from the back yard... Hey Kev...I'll put together some of my Muskie baits that I want to sell.. -
Nice report....hoping to see the pics

What do you say when you hook a fish?
TroutnMuskieHunter replied to BillM's topic in General Discussion
I tend to always say " YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS", but I've also been known to say a few of the same things camillej says -
It's not uncommon to pull an eye out of Temagami with the air bladder stickin' out of it's throat.....specially when you're targeting Lakers..here's one that came up from 56 FOW...

Thanks guys...hoping to get out again for at least a few hours tomorrow afternoon... Cudz...I've lived on this river for over 20yrs now and don't take chances......there was over 13" of ice where I was parked Hey Jacques, thanks for the invite to Mc'Bay but I think I'll stick to my local hard water here....not to fussy with cleaning and eating Pike ....you guys are more than welcome though to come up to this stretch of the river for some Walleye if ya want Hey Glen....are ya tellin' me that the 2009 OFC Tourney is officially ON ....and you're my coach/Captain again ..... -
Got back from a day long shop-till-ya-drop outing in town with the wife late this afternoon, and decided to take advantage of the remainder of the beauty day by gettin' out on the river.... I was contemplating at first whether I wanted to get out, drill holes and set some lines for a measly 45min of daylight but I'm glad I did....The full moon tonight rising over the hills while the sun was still setting was just breath taking to see ...and a few Walleye were caught which made it even better!! Kept one for dinner tonight and threw the other two dinks back.... Hopefully the bite will continue tomorrow!

Great report and congrats to ya for your first Whitie

A very nice evening with 2 special people
TroutnMuskieHunter replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
You can say that again Terry!!....This is the best site!! Big Cliff, When we built our house 6yrs ago, I had the electrician install a generator switch over circuit breaker panel. We bought a Generac 7000W generator and I have nothing but good to say about this unit!!...It has electric start, low oil shut-off, great on fuel consumption and it's really quiet! http://www.generac.com/Products/Portable/G...s/GPSeries.aspx We live in the country and thought long and hard about what we wanted/needed to power in the event of a power outage and came up with the following... - Well pump (for running water and toilet) - Fridges and Freezer - Furnace Blower (we heat mainly by wood and have a thermostat on the fireplace which turms on the blower and circulates the heat through the heating ducts) - All switches and wall outlets (TV's, computers, microwave, etc...) - Outside lights and motion detectors This gives us most of the necessities we normally would have prior to an outage with the execption of the washer/dryer, hot water tank and oven. If we need hot water due to a prolonged outage, we boil water on our propane Jenn-Air stove... Steve -
Nice report Dano!!
