  1. I found a new Pourvoirie that I went to in May that has natural/native Arctic Char and Speckled trout.....I caught 9 Char and 1 Speck using the fly rod and the 3lb'ers fought exactly the same if not less than the 3lb stocked rainbows.....I reserved a cabin for next June up there for 6 days I'm also going back to the Pourvoirie I just came back from....been going there for 10 years now. AS far as being raised with a fly rod, you're not the only one. The trip we just got back from was with my 46 year old son and he (as well as me) was raised fly fishing
  2. Really Spiel???? LMAO!!! They fought like hell on the fly rod and that's all I care about buddy!!
  3. I was using my fly rod for all of them Barry......Awesome fights
  4. Hi Iggy it was me that you talked to....I sent you a message
  5. Thanks Lew...yes it's been awesome for trout this year!! Cooler temps are coming so hopefully it will be a good fall for Muskie. I might squeeze one more late September trout outing if I can find someone to go up with me.
  6. Just got back from my 3rd trout adventure up in Quebec....the weather wasn't the greatest but it didn't stop the fish from biting...We slayed the Rainbow trout and caught our limit in less than 24hrs from arriving there last Friday, but we ate one and then did catch and release and then caught a 10th one before we left....the speckles were a little more difficult to catch compared to last month but we managed to keep 5 along with 3 Lakers. I got my hat trick with catching Rainbows, Specks and Lake trout....The Rainbow trout ranged from 2lbs to almost 6lbs. Look at the size of the Rainbows on the fish cleaning table
  7. Yes, at an outfitter I have been going to for over 10 years
  8. Just got home from a quick 3 day trout trip in Quebec.....another amazing time catching bows and speckled trout. There were 3 of us and we limited out on Speckles and caught 9 bows......I personally caught a 3 1/2lb, 3lb and 3 x 2lbs speckies....I am already looking forward to trip# 3 in 4 weeks. I LOVE retirement!!
  9. Hi Folks.....is there a lock available for a Minn Kota transom electric motor? Some of the outfitters I go to in Quebec have remote lakes that we can fish and it's a pain in the butt to always remove the electric motor if we want to head back to the cabin for a few hours.
  10. Yes most definitely....The Char was sweeter and the meat was dark orange/red color.
  11. I just got back from my trout trip in Quebec.....black flies were ridiculous, even out in the middle of the lake. Fishing started off slow but picked up by Wednesday.....No bows or browns in the remote lakes but I managed to get my limit in Quebec Reds (Char) on the larger lake that our cabin was on....biggest Char was 2.6lbs. First time going up to this outfitter so I think I'll give it another try next year in June as opposed to May.
  12. I feel like a kid again on Christmas Eve.....I can't even remember the last time I headed out for a spring Trout excursion due to heavy business travel.....It's been 7 weeks since I have retired and I'm feeling great! Leaving in the morning to drive 3hrs north in Quebec and we will be targeting native Quebec Reds +Speckled Trout on the lake that our cabin is on and then some remote lakes for stocked Rainbows and Browns.....Very stoked just to get back in a boat and this will be the first out of 4 fishing trips that I booked in Quebec this year.....Hopefully the fish will cooperate and I'll be able to make another post....I know the Black Flies will be cooperating
  13. Heading up to Quebec in 11 days for some trout.....this will be the 1st time staying at this outfitter. Remote cabin equipped with propane appliances including a hot shower... This place caught my attention a while back because of the multi species.....The Lake our cabin is on has native Arctic Char and Speckled Trout....then they give us an itinerary to fish remote lakes each day we are up there......Arctic Char, Speckies, Rainbows, Browns and 1 lake has walleye. I can hardly wait to get the hell up there!!
  14. I have been using Startron fuel treatment for years now in all my gas motors......my 150HP Merc, 9.9 Merc ProKicker, generator, woodsplitter, etc.....
  15. Thanks Lew.....nice to see that you're still on here!
  16. Hi Everyone....I'm happy to say that I am back after leaving this site for many years due to work. I took on a new position that required extensive travel around the world and almost completely stopped me from fishing. I was traveling every other week for weeks at a time and my boat has been stored away for 3 years in a row now. I've got less than 4 weeks before my official retirement date and can hardly wait to make up for the lost time of doing what I enjoy the most>>>>>> FISHING!! I looked at a few posts on here and happy to still see some familiar names and faces...... Steve....
  17. Hi everyone.....it's been a long time since I posted anything due to the fact that I have not been able to get out on the water because of work. I took a new Global position 2 years ago that has me traveling around the world every 2 weeks which has really cut into my ability to get out....I decided to take the bull by the horn and take a week off so I could actually get caught up around the house and a possible trout outing....My buddy called me last week and when I told him I was off he said "let's get out to your favourite trout lake"....It didn't take any time for me to say "let's go!" All I can say is that we picked an awesome 3 days of getting into the deep back lakes and hammering the Rainbows...we got into the lake Friday night after having to winch out of a few mud holes and limited out by noon on Saturday....My buddy forgot the net so it was pretty exciting to work the fish until there were ready to be grabbed. We even had the excitement of have a double header early Saturday morning... The highlight of the trip was this beauty 8lb'r that my buddy caught on the fly with no net I hope to get out on a few more outings this year and contribute some posts to this community...
