Never tried the salt to tenderize but I know for a fact baking soda is what most chinese restaurants use to tenderize the beef. I use it to make flank steak for fajitas super tender. Give it a try, you'll be amazed.

I know exactly what it is. The water shoots up like a fountain. Had the same issue and Humminbird admitted its a design flaw. They have remedied the situation with a rubber piece that fills that gap. Just call them up (1-800-633-1468) and mention the problem. They sent me one free of charge. Cheers

Lately I've been getting the Marriott free stay calls . At home and on both our cell phones. Don't know how they do it but the calls are a local number. You can hear many people in the call room. Drives me nuts.
