  1. I am a big fan of the RV wax from CTC, used to say it contained Teflon, but had to change that up so now its another thing- like contains PTEF or something. Goes on nice although it may need two coats if surface is oxidized some. Lasts for multiple years and dirt slides off when it rains- love it, brand is Star-Brite I think.
  2. Dunno where you will be heading, but I see round side parking areas on Hwy 17 east of North bay- could park overnight there, or maybe those little picnic areas with washrooms?
  3. Spent the day on the water today with the new kicker- 20 hp four stroke Suzuki with fuel injection and lean burn. Worked flawlessly, but yes, surprisingly noisier and more vibration than the 225 main motor. Started the day with a full tank of fuel and only needed $19 to fill her up after an 8 hour day with probably 6 hours of trolling/ idling on the kicker, and 40 minutes or less in main motor- very impressed with low fuel consumption as well as the hours I saved on the main motor. Seems to max out about 6.5 mph, and will troll below 1 mph, although ran around the 3.5 mark most of the time, for Musky.
  4. I am hoping the 20 Suzuki is as quiet as the big motor.
  5. I know on the west side of West bay on Balsam there are several small access routes to the lake- used one many years ago. The locals do all they can to dissuade folks from using them however.
  6. Lol, the 20 and 9.9 weigh the same, so hanging the 20 on the back, will report how I like it after this weekend.
  7. Marshes offers the 9.9 and 20 hp Suzukis- gonna mount the 20 I think.
  8. Can get the kicker, w/ power tilt/trim, remote shift next to main control for a decent price from Marsh's, where I bought the rig.. probably gonna do it
  9. Good points, new rig this season- 2025 kingfisher Flex SPT XP with 225 Suzuki 4 stroke. I mainly fish for Ski so actually run motor at about 850/900 rpm when trolling for them ( which is often) Considering a 20 hp 4 stroke Zuke for the kicker- should troll down enough ( pushing big boat after all) for 'Eyes, but still crank it up for Ski speeds and if I needed her to get back to ramp in emergency. That being said- I ran my 115 Yamaha 4 stroke for 14 years on my 17' Starcraft with no issues- probably had 3000 hours on motor with no issues.
  10. I am considering adding a kicker motor to my rig- save hours on big motor, and better speed control for trolling. What do folks with kickers say- is it a worthwhile investment? Do you actually use the kickers to troll instead of the big motor?
  11. Nice car Wayne, didn't you have a winged car as well? That my sons and mine '66 slopeback in my avatar- motor is out right now, but someday we wills stroke it out a bit and put an aluminum top end on her....someday
  12. Love the blue 66 Hemi Charger!!!
  13. Always good to know actual travel weight of your rig- manufacturers numbers don't always reflect real world conditions- fuel, oil, gear, batteries, motors, travel items ( bikes, luggage, coolers) etc. Yes you can ballpark the numbers.....
  14. Weigh station at scrap yard or landfill site. landfill is where I had mine done a few years back, need to get the new rig weighed...
  15. Second on Shad Raps, but where I target 'Eyes- can't beat a husky Jerk, or Smithwick Rogue trolled over rock humps at night- any colour really but I like the glow purple or chartreuse HJ's, Smithwicks hook better...
  16. Pretty nice, hope to hit Restoule later this season. Was closer to North bay for last week- one in boat and one follow was it from the Muskies...
  17. launch for Stormy in PP looks pretty good- great view at any rate.
  18. Pretty sure the fellows in the middle or deeper area were down rigging- for Lakers I assumed.
  19. Might be worth a trip into Turtle Lake at the east end- we were in there looking for Musky last summer and there were a few boats trolling in the 'middle'. Watch for rocks and shoals however... I found one
  20. Seems late in coming- pretty sure the SWF has been in Lake Muskoka for quite a while now- I used to get a clump of them stuck at the swivel of my leader when deep trolling. Also- isn't it the SWF that has been a major factor in the declining Walleye stocks in Nipissing....
  21. Thanks Brian B, hoping to slime her up (Musky) for the first time next weekend.
  22. Came with the boat, not sure I would have ordered it if I had a choice- and hope I never need to use it in an emergency...
  23. Will be trolling spinnerbaits over the emergent weed growth...
  24. Yep, rally is because of the bear shooting. I also read a release about this that said the MNRF and other non essential services are facing a further 5.5% budget reduction- who the heck gets to decide that MNRF and our natural resources are non essential?
  25. Seems relatively unknown for Musky, but Musky Hunter did an episode there last year and scored a few.
