  1. Once you are old and arthritic, you will appreciate a two piece suit. And unless you are nick-named Horsey, you might find that it is easier to take a leak when wearing a two piece suit. (I am thinking here of male anglers...) Salus has top-notch stuff, and they are Canadian as mentioned above. I have their floater bibs, and an older Canadian navy surplus top. When that top's time is done, I will be buying a Salus top to replace it. I have not tried the FXR floater stuff, but have a pair of their rain pants (bibs) and I am delighted with them.
  2. I agree completely. But it seems the data are suspect.......
  3. I did read the whole article. I consider it highly likely that the blame rests with unregulated commercial fishing, especially by vessels from countries who turn a blind eye to conservation. I am not saying that "climate change" may not be a factor, but the much more likely culprit is over-fishing. JMOYMV
  4. nice to read a story with a happy ending. Doug
  5. Trust me, retirement is a good thing! And one of these years, you and I might get a chance to have a chinwag in person! Maybe on a lake!! Safe travels! Doug
  6. I bought an Alumacraft Escape 165 this year and I am DELIGHTED with it. Mine is a tiller boat. Fabulous ride, roomy layout, and a 40 hp Yamaha pushes it as fast as I wish to go in a fishing boat. I would have bought a Starcraft or a Lund if I had found the model I wanted for the money I was willing to pay, but I am very pleased with this purchase. Doug
  7. maybe he is from Russia and wants a good spot to avoid the draft...............

  11. Excellent! Glad it worked out for you fellows. Doug
  12. tagged for interest OP, sorry to hear about your brother. Doug
  13. In general terms., where the heck were you? Fall weather, bring it on! Doug
  14. I am over 65 and don't disagree with you. But the provincial governments of all parties have treated licence revenue as the main funding source for wildlife and fish programs. It is high time that they put some serious general revenue cash into these programs like they do with every other provincial ministry. Sorry for the hijack............
  15. Without question, Ontario does not have nearly enough COs. Doug
  16. interesting first post............
  17. Good report Andrew, and thanks for taking the time to put it together! Doug
  18. I had a Normark with the black plastic handle that filleted thousands of fish but finally broke at the tang. Before that I used one of their wooden handled knives (which I still have). But my workhorse is a longer "Uncle Henry" model by Schrade, that I bought at LL Bean's store in Maine thirty years or so ago. I bought an electric Normark filleting knife (rechargeable) and it didn't have the balls to do even one bass. That POS went back to CTC. I tried a corded carving knife, like one of my buddies uses, but kept cutting through the backbones and screwing up the fillets. So it's power by Armstrong for this guy. Doug
  19. Cliff, I have a whole bunch of hats you can have to take with you for photos............😁 Doug
  20. Now here is a novel idea for supper! A buddy lamented that I would not be serving "sticky buns" for a brunch we are hosting, and suggested this as an alternative. But he may have been joking...........
  21. OP, you have a tough audience here..........😉
