  1. Both of my mishaps came while fishing with PigeonTroller. Hmmmmmm............. anyway, last year while helping release a muskie the fish slashed and somehow caught my knuckle. 2 deep tooth gashes right to the bone. Blood everywhere. Didn't even know it happened till Dax told me I was bleeding. We wrapped it up and caught several more muskie that day . While fishing bass I had a fish hit my rapala popper. I set the hook right at the same time as the fish jumped, and the lure shot out of its mouth like a slingshot. The back treble went right through my shorts into my knee. Pushed it through, cut it and carried on.
  2. I will be there! Going to be a great morning!!
  3. Lets hear about batteries. I need 2 12V for my trolling motor and am curious to hear everyones experiences. Will be running a Terrova 80#. I understand deep cycle batteries are needed so which are best?
  4. Thanks for all the input guys. Ended up buying a Promariner 2 bank 12Amp charger. My fishing buddy has this one and has had no issues with it.
  5. I want to purchase an on board battery charger. It will be for my Terrova 80lb. thrust 24V trolling motor. There seem to be many out there, with either 2 or 3 banks and also different Amps from 8 to 20. Could someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks, Dave
  6. Everyone talks about ice cleats ... what about a hockey helmet? Sure, all the other he-man ice fisher types will make fun of you... but you are walking on ICE!!
  7. This is right up my alley. I love fishing topwater for muskie. Everything these guys said is bang on. My experience has been identical to theirs. They didn't talk about water temps though. Maybe because they don't matter.
  8. While fishing Moira river once, my dad and I found a paddle. Thought nothing of it. further downstream started finding full beer cans of Coors light.4 in total I think. Made me wonder if a canoe had tipped but saw nothing else. Caught a nice muskie, and took the beer home and drank it lol
  9. very cool. Nice job handling it too. Not sure I could unhook one of those.
  10. Unfortunately, some muskie fishermen develop a holier than thou attitude. Probably due to the endless amount of time and money they invest in catching a trophy muskie. I am one of them. However, if its legal for someone to possess a trophy fish of any species, then so be it. Most educated fishermen know a trophy fish is a very old fish, and should be released. What irks folks is those of us not yet lucky enough to catch a trophy of such size after years of chasing them, only to see someone catch "that fish" and harvest it. Now imo Lake St. Clair is a different case. The muskie population has exploded and you have to think that some "culling" can't hurt. That big fish i'm sure will be quickly replaced by another. I only began to experience this muskie fishery this year. Had a great time this fall and caught plenty of 40" plus fish. I don't really see it causing a problem when LEGAL size fish get taken. As long as the regulations are followed. Now places like the French River or West Arm, are a different story. A lot less muskies so harvesting would definitely hurt. I was shocked many years ago when I stayed at a lodge on the West Arm. They pulled out all their pics for us to look at, I guess to pump us up for muskie fishing. I could not believe the number of photos of big muskie taken from the dock or actually frozen from being in the freezer. A guy standing there holding a frozen 45" muskie, and the lodge owner says " oh ya that's so and so, he comes up here for 2 weeks every year". Now that's concerning.
  11. sorry to hear the Leafs are causing you pain, Matt. :tease:I think the Sens are causing you more though :tease:
  12. It will all be forgotten if he keeps winning games.
  13. I've been chasing that elusive 50" (or bigger) muskie for far too long. I've caught every size up to 49", including many mid 40's -48" on topwater. So i'm going to say the fish I am after is 50" on a topwater lure. A smallie over 5lbs perhaps 6 or 7 is also on the list.
  14. Picked up nothing in 2014 ... but ... planning on selling my 16' Lund Mr. Pike / 50HP Honda and getting something a bit bigger!
  15. Dynamite Dominic Donuchi! (sp?) and Tony Parissi
  16. we caught quite a few on Erie this year while bass fishing. The respect is lost when you think it's an 8lb smallie and turns out to be a big ugly sheep. They definitely hit crankbaits hard though and put up a great fight.
  17. Well we went to Belle River and the tell tale sign of fish not biting was present. Not a single shore caster and only one other boat. We gave it for 5.5 hrs and called it quits. A few shore casters showed up in the afternoon but nothing caught.
  18. Hey everyone, Planning on going to Belle River for what will probably be my last muskie outing of the season. Any feedback out there as to whats going on ? Ice/water temps/ fish/no fish/don't bother/go to Detroit river/marina frozen solid etc Thanks, Dave
  19. Another great game. Don't know what it is about Detroit, but the Leafs seem to play well against them(most times). Bozak played his best game of the year imo.
  20. Pretty tense last 5 min... good game Leafs! JVR has great hands for sure.
  21. Well at least when they play lousy, it's a team effort. Phaneuf was saying that they need to be better prepared and give a better effort. Geeeeezzzz....really?? what an idiot.
  22. I have to give the Leafs credit. They knew how they had to play and actually did it for 60 min. Total team effort. Boston didn't even show up for that one.
  23. Looked like the same team as last year to me. Being outshot badly in the 3rd, having the puck on their stick and not getting it out, Riemer standing on his head.... but willtake the 2 points. Whats with pretty boy Lupol he must be made of paper mache or something.
  24. Hate baseball but that little bit of drama at the end was intense! That guy playing centerfield better buy his pitcher a beer or two!
