  1. Man that sucks. My condolences for the loss. My 30hp stays outside but my 15 and my siw both sit on stands in the garage because I thought they would be to easy to steal. I grew up in a fairly seedy area and dont trust anyone.
  2. From Minnisota DNR page Ask the DNR Q. In its statements on catch-and-release, the DNR says it's better to leave a deeply im-bedded hook in a fish's mouth and cut the line than to rip the hook out. The hook will supposedly dissolve. But how do biologists know this? en A. There is no existing scientific research on the topic, but DNR fisheries biologists have observed fish surviving with hooks in various stages of "being dissolved" in their bodies. And many anglers have caught fish with a partially dissolved hook in its gut. Many variables determine how fast the hook will dissolve, and if the fish will survive at all. These include hook location (throat, stomach, mouth, etc.), hook size, fish size, temperature (most reactions occur faster at higher temperatures, so a hook would probably dissolve faster in the summer than in the winter). A hook in the mouth may dissolve, but it could also work loose and fall out. A hook in the mouth might hamper feeding behavior, but only temporarily. A hook in the gill, however, will almost always prove fatal because it interrupts the respiratory process before it gets a chance to dissolve. Hooks in the stomach will nearly always dissolve, if internal organs have not received life-threatening damage from the hook (such as during a fight between fish and angler). How long does it take for a hook to dissolve? Again there are lots of variables, such as hook size and fish size. DNR fisheries biologists estimate that it would take roughly two to three weeks for an ?average? hook to be dissolved by the ?average? fish?without too much indigestion. I often will kill a fish because it is gut hooked and bleeding. Stainless steel hooks of coarse will not rust out. Of coarse any fish deep hooked that is kept has no chance for survival.
  3. Ive seen a tailing lake in Labrador it was literally blood red. Disgusting but no ones fault but our own for letting politicians get away with being in the pockets of big business and selling our resources and our health.
  4. What he said. only about 8 spots for me.
  5. Nice Fish. I leave Friday Morning cant wait!!!!!!! I'll use strategy I always use. Do my milk run once with bulging bucktail. Second time with topwater. Third time with Sledge. See if anything shows itself and comeback to those spots more frequently and cautiously.
  6. Looks like a nice long fish but are you sure it was a musky? Looks like a pike to me....... ROFL!!!!
  7. A pumping heart moves the blood out faster.
  8. Yes I use tht method all the time as well. Much more humane than a priest. I kinda equate it with slitting your wrist in a tub of water.
  9. My favourite colour for just about any plastic is watermelon pepper. A darker green with black pepper flakes. I use Yamamoto plastics exclusively.

  19. Hey you have more perseverance than me if I got to Whitemans and the water was that colour I wouldnt even have casted a line.
  20. Bill good luck on your trip. Normally lots of fish up there just tough to get anything of any size. Heres a pic of my buddy that I took fishing it couple of weeks ago. Really try to get your bait down by the logjams, you'll lose hooks but you'll also catch fish.
  21. You need to shop before you leave. There is no tackle stores in the area, you might find the odd bit of stuff in general stores up that way but certainly not much variety.
