  1. No as posted. Ive had big musky pull 50 feet of line off at a go. With my drag tightend down so much that I cant pull it out by hand. None of the other fish that Ive caught on musky gear were able to do that. Skill wise fresh run steelhead on super light tippet is the most difficult to get to the shore. Hence my many 2 for 12 or 1 for 7 or 12 for 30 fall steelheading trips back in the day. But hands down the most powerful of our sportfish is the mighty musky.
  2. Only someone who has never caught both species would lump pike and musky together. Musky fight way better than pike. As far as comparisons go I have caught all species on my musky equipment. Here they are in order of their fighting prowess. All fish caught on 100 lb power pro, heavy action rod, and Abu Ambassador 5000 reels. 1st Place- musky. Ability to pull 50 feet of line off even with the drag cranked right down not just once but several times 2nd place- smallmouth bass. Hugged bottom and had a tough time moving it off bottom. 3rd place-salmon No real runs but was very difficult canoeside getting into the net 4th place-steelhead whupped like a rented mule 5th place- pike. The hit is hard but then nothing. No pic cause I could never be bothered to take a pic of a lowly pike 6th place-largemouth bass. They dont even fight well on proper bass gear no pic 7th place walleye like fighting a branch that youve snagged. Although when I catch one incedently Im quite happy to invite him to dinner no pic
  3. Mike get good measurements and pictures. Let the fish go and get a graphite replica made at http://www.advancedtaxidermy.com/. Their work is fantastic and last forever unlike a skin mount which fades with time and needs to be redone. My 21 inch Brooky was done by them and it proudly hangs on my wall.
  4. I keep my boat just down river from there in Glen Allen and use it to test my boat after I do any work on it. The quality of the water just grosses me out. Ive never seen so much suspended solids in a lake even more than fanshawe. There is pike, walleye and smallmouth in it though.
  5. I use to spend two weeks camping there every summer with my family. The bass fishing has always been awesome.
  6. Ive seen lots of decent smallmouth come out of Tea.
  7. That bear better get in on the class action suit.
  8. Yes nothing pleasant about seeing a fish eye staring up at you from the plate. Head, gut and gill. And enjoy remember the fins are tasty as well just like crunchy chips.
  9. If you dredge the fish in flour first it helps the egg stick to the fish which in turn helps the breading stick. Another interesting cereal to use is rice krispies.
  10. See this post that I made http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...c=19485&hl= I love cooking whole brook trout this way
  11. Wonderful report. Family camping trips provide memories for a lifetime.
  12. Congrats on the weight loss Rich thats impressive. I hope I can do as well. That reservoir is a beautiful place. The water is crystal clear. I take my nephews and neices there swimming all the time. I love swimming back and forth from the beach to the opposite shore.

  17. Great pace for family camping but to crowded for my taste. Nice swimming and suprisingly good smallmouth fishing
  18. So had a morning to kill yesterday before going for treatment of my spider bite. My son, my buddy John and I hit Sparrow for 4 hours. Did most of our fishing at the mouth of the severn in the south end of the lake.Plenty of small pike caught on spinnerbaits and inline spinners. My buddy John switched over to a chugg bug and caught his new personal best largemouth out of 4 feet of water on a weed flat. Didnt get a weight but it was 21 inches long Obligatory new world record poses Have a nice day everyone
  19. Like I said fish below Alexander Dam with spoons. Also go up to elizabeth lake rd and turn onto it. You'll cross a creek called fraser creek always good for tossing a spinner or some worms into it for some brookies particukarlyupstream of the road and under the plunge pool of the little falls/rapid. A little bit further down the road is Malvern Lake its chock full of stocker splakes and they seem to be very willing feeders. Hope that helps.
  20. 50 pounds!!!!! Good Lord!!!! That is a fish of a lifetime . Your personal life goal will now be to beat it. Kiss your money good buy. You need to send photos into Musky Hunter and Esox Magazine they are always interested in fish that big. 50 pound plus fish are incredibly rare.
  21. Ive got WOOD!!!!!! Thats an amazing fish probably right around the 40 pound mark. Now the bad news is you might go another 30 years without breaking that PB. The good news is you can die trying.
  22. The thing to remember about a spiders range is a certain times of the year it is very fluid. They can easily be transported and survive for a season or two in ontario before our winters kill them. My treatment is still ongoing, my rash has subsided but the bite and swelling are still there. Now the thing itches worse then any mosquito bite. I git sent home from work yesrerday because they didnt want me working with a shunt in my wrist so after my IV first thing this morning I removed the shunt and will endure daily IV injection so I can keep on mling the DOH RAY ME.
  23. Remember Hazel Lake has both Largemouth and good population of smaller musky. Looking at the map in the southwest there is an island with a 20' depth contour mark. This is Maws Island fish ll around it for good smallmouth and musky. Also fish the cabbage beds in between Green and Dry islands. Those are the two big islands in the west end of the lake. See the falls on the southwest part of the lake? Hike up the hill and cast from shore the smallmouth fishing on that lakeis pretty good. If I was up there Id take you down into Lennon Lake I keep a boat stored down there and the bass and pickeral fishing is outstanding. Talk to Bing at Martins I think he keeps a oat down there it be a nice day trip.
