  1. I've seen many people fish Duffins for trout, steelhead, etc...I've always wanted to go, and think I will tonight. Can you eat the rainbow or salmon from the river? or the question should be would you?
  2. I went by at lunch. It is only rod/reel combo's and they had one rod/reel on sale -Everything else is normal price. Better to go up to Bass Pro or your local and pick up a better deal! The ad is misleading! But then again, it did bring my into the store, and I did end up spending $150 on stuff I probably don't need.
  3. Any idea where to stay - an outfitter/motel that offers ice fishing?
  4. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of where I can stay and ice fish somewhere around Orillia and Huntsville? Looking at doing one day of fishing with a couple friends and having a few pints after.
  5. Is there any ice on Nippissing yet - Looking to fish right in front of North Bay.
  6. Went up to Arrowhead Sunday with the Family. We had site 491. Really nice and private site. Actually all sites in the 490's were great (If anyone is interested) Beaches are nice. There are 3 of them. The beach by our site was pretty private. A bear ate all our food. We left the cooler out by error when we took the kids for a drive in the morning to get them warm. Came back and the bear was still on our site. Pretty fun for the kids to see. Actually the joke was on the bear, cause the hotdogs that were in the cooler were made by Maple Leaf! Anyways, Arrowhead is a great park. There are nice scenic lookouts, trails and a nice calm river to paddle. The fishing was excellent. Lots of small mouth. We watched a lady catch a 3lber off the dock. If you ever go, paddle accross the lake directly from the canoe rental to the brich trees. There you'll catch a fish every cast. Although I prefer the walk in sites at Silent Lake for camping, we'll probably go back to Arrowhead again. The sites were very well maintained, lots of wildlife (bears, deer, beaver, otters,)and it is very scenic up there. Cheers!
  7. Anyone been to Arrowhead Provincial Park? What's it like - both beach, sites and of course the fishing?
  8. we are camping this week at Silent Lake Provincial Park. Can anyone supply me some fishing tips for the lake - (i.e. what I might catch, etc...) Cheers,
  9. How deep should I be fishing for trout right now? What kind of lure should i use? Also can someone please give me some advice for some pike fishing on the lake? We are around Doc Evans Bay.
  10. Well, Last Sat we headed up to North Bay to do some ice fishing. rented a hut from Billy Bob's and Carl took us out. He was a really nice guy, and was very friendly and outgoing. We spent 8 hours on the ice, nothing was biting. Tried spoons, and jigheads w/minnows. All we caught last weekend were two perch. The other huts around us had the same luck, although one guy in the morning caught a pike closer to shore. Although the fishing was poor, we still had a great time and a nice boys weekend away from the wives.
  11. We've never been ice fishing before. We rented a hut up in Callander on Nippising this weekend. What can we expect to catch? What bait/lures/hook should we be using? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  12. I am looking to purchase a Downrigger for my bro-inlaw. Looking to spend up to $80.00 Any suggestions??? We have never used one, so we're not to sure about the products out there.
  13. Again, another DRY weekend! I fished the bays, the rocks, the weeds...Nothing. I was using a mepps, tried jitterbugs, brass spoons, some minnow jerk baits, hula poppers, etc... NOTHING! We used a depth finder and were fishing from 6-12 feet. tried South Bay, Doc Evans Bay, etc... What am I doing wrong?
  14. Governement won't do anything about it, cause they make a killling in taxes as well when the prices go up on long weekends!
