You're talking about ice right? lol. We punched a hole in a bay on Trout lake and it was only about 2" so we left it be. The lake we did fish on had 3-5" depending on what part of the lake. Nice solid ice for the most part too. TechnaGirl - hopefully you can figure out how to use the Auger cause you're punchin your own holes tomorrow!

Should also mention we scouted a few other lakes in the North Bay area and they were a NO GO! 2+ inches on the first hole close to shore so we stayed off.

I own 3 stradic's and love them. Great reel for the buck. If you have the $$$ and want one for ice fishing then go for it... you won't regret it.

Paired it w/ a Shimano Castaic for 1 handed depth changes (flippin switch). 2 Shimano Stradics (rediculously good deal, had to get 2!) Simms G3 Guide Jacket. Gortex, absolutely bullet proof. Bolle Polarized Sunnies (via warranty) Auger - 8" Finn Sweede bore III (haven't used it yet) Now it's time to start loading up for the ice. Thinking of a portable hut and a flasher.

Oh I'm sure they would work but they are definitely intended for casting/twitching. What does rapala call them... a slash bait. Great eratic action when casted, one of my go to baits for shallow spring walleye. Thanks for the info though terry, I'll give em a shot on the long line.
