  1. I'm thinking it was sarcasm there redx.
  2. AS far as boats, you can't go wrong with Crestliner, Smokercraft, Princecraft and the similar boats. All have fish/ski type boats. If money is no object Lunds are the boat of choice and for those on a budget, Legends offer great value for money. IF you'd like a cedar strip, one member here makes them, too.
  3. Welcome. It's great to have you here. Some things to note.. Don't feed Roy after midnight, if something here breaks, blame me, what happens at Lakair stays at Lakair and post as many pictures as you can. Ohh..and none of us know what Clamp-It is talking about either.
  4. I am in need of assistance from anyone in this area. I have a very close friend moving to Beaverton forr a job and she needs to find either a place to buy or rent. The ideal place will be within 1/2 hours of bBEaverton. Please PM or email me with any info!!
  5. Host is doing that Corey and they are taking the server off the grid as well. Same host, different machine. We were on one of them new fangled boxes that apparently sucks. Not sure if they are reassigning the IP to the new server or if it already has one.
  6. Cliff started a great post so I thought we should make a sticky thread with everyone's safety tips for fishing and boating. Add your tips. Here's a few.. When wearing chest waders consider wearing a belt done up snugly on the outside of the waders around your waist. IF you happen to go in, this will slow down the amount of water getting in allowing you more time to try and get to shallow water. Always let someone know when you are heading out on the water and where you are thinking of going. If you fail to return home, at least the rescue searchers have a starting point. Inflatable PFD's are extremely comfortable and very effective. Much more so than the regular PFD you leave in the bottom of the boat rather than on your back. Wear your lanyard! Glueing felt pads to the bottom of your booted waders can help you with traction on algae covered rocks.
  7. So I decided I just can't take it anymore and we are moving servers. Actually everyone is gettin off that server. They were completely unable to find the issue, so they have to reinstall all the software running the server and reformat the drives. I'm not sure yet what day it will happen, but it will take us offline for about 4 hours till the DNS propogates. Sorry for the troubles everyone has been having.
  8. Judging by the layout, G, you should even be able to put in a hatch in the floor for a storage compartment up front for the anchor and stuff.
  9. There's one great reason to advertise here. Traffic. Tons of it and most of it is not by the members. 25 to 30,000 page views every Monday and Tuesday. This gives a link to your website, which if it is well laid out, gives you the chance to bring in clients. A huge chunk of web business for fishing comes through sites like OFC Community, Quebec Peche, Walleye Central and the other bigger sites. Message boards are great advertising tools because of their dynamic nature. There is always rest content and always new people coming in. I have to believe anglers have taken to the internet better than most other hobbyists. Most of our regulars use advertisers and then report about their success. We certainly can't make someone's business a success, but we can give someone the chance.
  10. You have to listn to a Harmon Kardon to appreciate it. There isn't alot of volume difference between 35 and a 100 watts. But the difference in the clarity is huge. The closer you push that Panasonic to 100 the more distortion you will receive. I think 5.1 units are more than enough since I've yet to see even a 6.1 movie out. I got my Yamaha 5.1 6 yrs ago. They were pushing the 6's then cause the 6 channel movies were just around the corner. Never happened. Yamaha makes an awsome package for a great price.
  11. Honestly, CanadianGuy, I do see your point. But it is more about responsibility than anything else. If you wreck or someone wrecks you, you still need money to live, pay your mortgage, feed your kids etc. It is not about the 200 guys who die each year. It is about the thousands that survive. The guys who get hurt but live, the wives and children of those who did die. Thats why wearing a PFD is not about your right, it is about your responsibility to your kids and family. It isn't a tax, it is part of the package of owning a boat and is no different than a car.
  12. Because some idiot somewhere is going to maim someone. If they don't have insurance, that person is stuck disabled and poor. IF they maim themselves we get to pay for them through their UI or welfare after they can't work anymore. You have insurance on your car and your home, why is a boat any different? Maybe you won't do something stupid, but someone may do it to you. Misfish..I picked 16 ft and up as a starting point.
  13. Okay we now found someone with MacAfee that was able to come in once they disabled MacAfee Anti-virus. AVG does not appear to have any issues with this site.
  14. We are aware of an issue that causes only a part of the board to be viewable for some visitors. We think it may be a flaw in a new Norton Internet Security update. There are a few lines in the page code that allow for certain IE flaws to be overcome. This however, may be mimicking code that tries to trigger an IE exploit. This is getting more and more widespread across the internet and more reports are coming in. All signs do point to Norton, so try and disable Norton or put this site into the exceptions list and see what happens. Feel free to email me if this does or does not work. There are literally hundreds of people trying to figure this out. Email Rick
  15. Ahh yes...Heinreich Jumla would be proud. I'm not just saying that cause I am the VP of the company! Jumlas are only available through Avery's Tackle in Sturgeon Falls. There have been some cheap knock offs, but there is only one Jumla.
  16. A quick fix to this problem...make liability insurance mandatory for all PWC's and boats over 16'. PWC insurance is very expensive. I wonder why?
  17. I have the swivel slide like pikehunter shows and it is rock solid. I have four large screws holding mine in..but it goes through some wood. Why not put some marine grade plywood on top of the seat wrapped in marine carpet then attach the seat plate to that.
  18. Never heard of it! Kidding..try using the search function up top for 'Nippissing' or 'Lakair' or 'West Arm'
  19. TJ went away for a few days and left me in charge. From this point forward, the men's room shall have HDTV in each stall and the ladies rooms shall dispense Haagen Daas Ice Cream. Enjoy! Oh yeah..we're getting new Apache and MySQL servers over the weekend cause apparently we got a defective one. There should be no noticeable down time.
  20. They go after my dogs, Roy, which is why I had to eradicate them. The golden swells up bad from the stings.
  21. We hada big one in the soffit a few years back and hired PCO to come kill them. I think it was 100 bucks or so, but they were gone and never came back.
  22. Joe; I've enabled the Lavender skin to be viewable. It has no extra codes from Google or stat devices so see if that makes a difference. Google does write some bad java sometimes...actually most of the time.
