  1. I hear you are lurking about....come out, come out wherever you are!!! If you are going to be here next month as your beautiful step daughter says, let me know.
  2. Smokercraft is a top notch boat..they make the legend rivetted hull boats (welded hull is/was Monarch boats) The majority of the boats we see very day are still in business for a reason. Decide on your needs and get that satisfied within your budget. Look at your likeliest place to fish as well. I could not think of a better boat for places like the kawarthas or the west arm than my old smokercraft, but if I was going to be on erie, I'd want wayne's Lund.
  3. No better reel than the old Zebco Cardinal. Was imitated by many, but never duplicated.
  4. It depends on the wind, current and bottom. The softer the bottom, the lower angle and more rope you need. Certain anchors, like the navy anchor, needs a ton of rope out in sand. Wave height also increass the rope need so you are not lifting the anchor. 3X to 4X the depth gives you a 45 degree angle...which is usually what I like. If I am in current, yeah i am going to swing around. Sorry...but i will say hi and share drinks and bait when the boats come together. Fishing some areas of the French we kinda make a floatilla once we get hooked..help stabilize the group.
  5. Like Roy is alluding to..get underneath and put something more solid underneath for the screws to bite into..some PT wood or aluminum and perhaps a lucite piece on top heated and molded to fit as well.
  6. Two different beavers...a yearling and an adult. Is a very artistic bit of work though. An adult would not try and chew that close to the root line.
  7. Just drag her up on shore and you got waterfront cabin right there!
  8. I don't think have varied classes is a bad idea....Under 125hp, under 60hp and Open. I bet the people on Rice Lake would rather see a bunch of 90's and 125's running around during the tournies. Plus it does become a keep up with the jonses thing, make it a bit more level..about the fishing and not the boat.
  9. that'll cost ya extra..lol You're a freak...lmao I may need a place to stay if I get to Talladega, dawg, so i'll be glad to deflect for ya.
  10. There was counterfeit stuff a few years ago and the boxes were almost perfectly identical. i think they added a hologram after that.
  11. Was just watching the CNN..lots of tornado warnings your (red)neck of the woods. Head for the basement or maybe grab a parachute and go for a ride..
  12. I've had your moonshine, dawg...it will absoltuley kill and virus, bacteria or stomach lining in comes in contact with.
  13. Both are prevalent right now douG. There were 30 confirmed cases of the salmonella carrou bacteria in canada and untold numbers of Norwalk/Rotavirus cases. But the symptoms are the same...and 90% of people don't need medical intervention. The only fruit I ate last week was a pineapple/strawberry salad from the grocery store/ I have no idea what I had...more likely the virus over the bacteria. We have placed extra sanitizer stations at work because so much of our staff are coming down ill.
  14. Having just got over whatever this virus is, I found on the Health Canada website that a massive Salmonella outbreak is threatening North America. There was a Norwalk or Rotavirus outbreak occuring at the same time, but those results are being checked to see if they were also salmonella. Not a real threat to adults, but can be deadly to infants and seniors. Wash your hands!! I've got about 5% of staff out with it now and several friends.
  15. I hope so...I blew a rad hose about 1/4 of the way there..let my CAA expire, too. ARRGGHH!! Looks like I missed a damm good time...
  16. That was funny right there... We have to laugh at ourselves...cause then it's okay when we laugh at Americans...lol. Kidding..sorta...unless you live south of the Mason-Dixon line.
  17. Well, Dr... you know as much as anyone what a population absent of predators does. It grows until the food source is exhausted. Then it expands its range, and does the same thing over and over. This happens until all food sources are gone and eventually disease kills them off. By then some of the previously exhausted food sources come back...some will not. The cormorant is a upper-level predator with an unusually high reproduction rate. The risks in ecological terms of inaction are too great. Down here we don't have many cormorants primarily because of human shoreline incursion. But we have deer..lots of them. And we are their only predator so it falls upon us to try and maintain numbers that do not risk the population of other species whether that be plant or animal. This is no different. Where we have displaced or extirpated predators, it is sound practice to take over that role. The invasive zebra mussel has been the catalyst to all of this by reducing, or in some places eliminating water turbidity.
  18. can you get the hammy harness in flouro?
  19. http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30957 We were a fan before the world found out.
  20. Okay..we are not going to solve this issue here. Everyone had a hand in the failure. Let's close this now and all think about the summer fishing.
  21. This is why American Idol is likely in its last year...they NEVER come up with good stuff like this...
  22. The danger with wearing prescription sunglasses is eye damage. I kept getting headaches from my clip on polarized lenses and asked my optometrist why. Modern lens styles tend to be very small. Putting a sun blocking device over just the lens causes the iris to open more. However the light coming in from the top, sides and bottom is still very much unfiltered...you get your iris opening and closing several times per second and are allowing alot of ultra-violet light into your eye. Wear the big ugly wrap arounds to make sure you protect your eyes and minimize ultra violet exposure,
  23. I used to jog alot...then figured out my car would get me there much faster. Man..that was one of life's great lessons...I have probably saved $300 on shoes by now!!
  24. Provided the area is not a fish sanctuary, there is no season on carp. All other angling reg's do apply, though.
