  1. WOW Nice fish!!!!!
  2. Yeah I used photobucket to up load pics but now my pics look kinda funny in my post. Am I missing something?
  3. Well the day finaly came for the musky opener I was all geared up and had a charter with reelpro.ca for the day. We hit a lake just north of Simco around 8 am not sure which one After about 10 casts the first fish of the day hit a healthy 37"er This is the only pic I got with my camera. My buddy Kev got a small guy about 2 hours later After that I kept hitting 2-3 lb smallies on big bucktails. Also a PB 22" walleye. Yeah I dont fish walleye In all had a great day on the water. Learnt alot from Mike our guide. Heading out again this Thursday to Cameron lake for some more skis.
  4. How do i resize pics to up load? My pics are 5 megs
  5. I noticed on one of Pigeontrollers pics what looks like hockey tape on the tips of his jaw spreaders. Great idea!!! While pike fishing last week I ripped two big holes in the fishes mouth with the spreaders.
  6. Man this has been a long off season, I filled time trying new spieces but the time has almost come. Im with a guide for the opener on a lake near Orillia. Totally pumped. Tested out the C3 on the pike opener near Bancroft and loved it. All the fish that day came on a buckaboo in 13 feet of water over some pretty well grown cabbage in the center of that part of the lake. I had a great time bomb casting magnum zara spooks and will have to dedicate some top water time this Saturday. Tested out my entire arsenal of musky gear from shore on lake O. Had my first birds nest bomb casting a bulldawg early in the day but dont think ill have that problem too often. I found the show girl the biggest bucktail id throw with that reel. Some good warn weather this week will hopefully turn the fish on. Good luck to everyone. Looking forward to the reports Sun/Monday and remember without pics its just a fishing story.
  7. Ha ha! Did you burn big baits all day or did you slow it down like I told you? Im washing the musky lures down at Bronte in the morning. Hope to maybe hit some trout or salmon while ut there. Biggest fish 2008 race is on!!!
  8. Anyone enter the contest posted a few months back for a free charter for the musky opener. Well I did and today I found out I won Ill be taking two of my good fishing buddys out for 8hrs food, gear and drinks included. With Mike on the boat I should be able to reduce those thousand casts by a few. Thanks again to mike at www.reelpro.ca I cant remember his screen name at OFC but im super pumped and wont sleep till the opener.
  9. Great feed back. My shimano rod is a musky edition and the reason for wanting a 8 footer would be for better figure 8s. I tried to buy a wide range of lures but knew my general plan of attack ie. in lines, spinners and top water. If I could go back I would have got the 8 footer as a starter then maybe next season a 6 foot heavy for the jerk baits ect. As for the lefty I am right handed but the 20 years of spinnig reals just wont go away. To retrive a thousand casts with my right would be like writing a thousand pages with my left. I cant wait till the may long to head to my pike lake and give the new gear a go.
  10. I pulled the trigger this winter to go from heavy spinning combo pike fishing to full out musky gear. I did alot of reserch and learned it takes $$$ Below is a list of what I have picked up. I put in the prices so anyone thinking of getting into the sport would have a good idea of what it takes but keep in mind you can save money by going on ebay or OFC classifieds. Abu Garcia C3 6501(lefty) $115 Shimano Compre 7" MH med action $140 (if i could go back i would have got a 8 footer) Spider wire 65lb braid $30 ( too light??) 12lb mono (goes under braid to fill spool)$10 Over sized big game net with fin saver $65 (must) 12in 80lb florocarbon leader $8 each plyers/wire cutters $30 (must) This seemed to be the best set up for the price from my reserch. Should I upgrade my line? I was thinking cast ability at first. Probably a classic mistake from someone who has always used a spinning outfit. Prices on the lures are aprox I have had some of these for a while. Heddon magnum zara spook $15 Blue fox double prop buzz bait in perch $14 9"suick in brown $15 10" Grandma in silver $23 6" rapala super shadin perch $12 med size bulldawg in orange $14 6" Red devil spoon in red/yellow $8 9"Storm swim bait in brown $6 Storm spinner/perch soft bait combo $6 MnG spinner in yellow n black $14 Grim reaper spinner in silver n white $19 MnG buckaboo inline $14 musky mayhem Double cowgirl in orange n black $25 musky mayhem Showgirl in red n silver$22 milk crate instead of tackle box (what diameter tubes should I use for inserts?) Thanks for everyones help putting this set up together. Thought id give back.
  11. Only just saw the link now. WOW I would bring a snorkle and goggles fishing with those. I would love to have a few of those in the box.
  12. Nice!! What size are those? Whats the brand?
  13. Dont forget big long nose plyers and jaw spreaders. As for lures mepps 3 long in perch colours for working outside weed lines and any spinners for inside.
  14. That 14lbs rating is in mono. Just under the rating on your super braid box in small text it will tell you its equivelence in mono. ie 65 braid=14 mono
  15. Do you plan on fishing in Greese? Im heading there in the summer and havent had much luck finding charters.
  16. Hey all, anyone know if the marinas are open at long point? I want to rent a boat on Wednesday and havent heard back from sandboy marina yet. Can anyone suggest another marina on Erie that is open and rents. looking to do some pike fishing. Thanks Steve
  17. GB?
  18. I have used the Shimano Stratic 4000FH for pike for the last 3 years and love it. The Quantum reel same size/price point is nice to but also comes with a titanium bail arm.
  19. Anyone fish for gar? I have seen one on the trent but couldent get it to take. Any good areas to try?
  20. Thin, Clear and tough for rocks and teeth.
  21. Stay up stream of Dundas in Erindale Park. Im pretty sure anything down steam is off limits. This may be just during spawning season but unless someone corrects me I wouldn't chance it.
  22. Hey Mepps, I saw your pic on a WFN commercial. When are you getting your own show.
  23. The only shows that have anything thats fresh and worth while for me are Musky Hunter, Urban Outdoor Adventure and Next Bite all of the other shows just seem to be a repeat new or not. Seasonal and weather related shows along with graphics I find to be the most useful. Watching someone catching fish for twenty mins just dosent cut it for me any more.
  24. I love Musky Hunter!!!! Season one was amazing and I loved it for the same reason as everyone else. Its info packet, huge fish and no pushey sales pitches. I got a little worried early in season two when there was a 5 min Ranger boat bit but that was a one off. Tuesday night at nine are the new episodes. I hope there is a booth at the sportsman show.
  25. I had a Okuma in my hands at the boat and fishing show. It seemed like a real nice reel, smooth and sold at an amazing price. If the reviews are good ill probably be picking one up before the opener.
