Aaron Shirley replied to Alumacraft's topic in General Discussion
Nice going on openers Rob. Looks like a fun time. I like the custom camera mount, pretty creative -
A friend sent this to me today. Not sure if it has been posted here before. It's an interesting read, but not sure how true it is. Anyone here know anything about this? Ethanol Damaging Outboards

Thank you all for your comments everyone. I was waiting for the pun and movie reference I definitely hope to receive formal show ideas from OFC'ers on my new site when it is up and running. For now, a PM here will do, as the new site will not be up until the fall. You do not need to be a tourney angler, guide or fishing pro to pitch a show idea. I have already received several good show ideas from anglers since the press release from here, Facebook etc. I look forward to hearing your show ideas! I will have a press release all about the new show later to keep you all informed. Good fishing! Aaron

Sounds like a good day out, nice.

Good stuff! Looks like a lot of fun for the family.

Johnny Bass, I actually meant white bass, not whitefish LOL As for the Trigger X, you are referring to the original individually wrapped biodegradable plastics that came in fluid. Those are not made anymore, they have been drastically revamped and sold in traditional packaging. The new Trigger X is the plastics I use, not the original stuff, that wasn't out long.

Turning fallowers Into Commitment

Great pike! Cool story for sure, you'll remember that day for a while. -
Irishfield LMAO. We thought for sure he would try eating the minnows, especially since he's teething, but he never tried once! He was just content trying to scoop them out, hold them and put them back in the well Thx everyone, definitely a proud dad

Thx guys, was a lot of fun. I tried deep water as well, but couldn't find big smallies. This transition time can be tough to find big fish consistently. EC1, wish I could tell you more about them right now, but I was told to keep a lid on it, sorry. I can tell you that the prototype I was using was a low profile baitcaster. As soon as I get the green light, I'll let everyone have a look at them. Cheers, Aaron

I took my wife Kristi and one-year-old son Brayden out fishing to the Niagara River recently. This was my son's 1st fishing trip, and Kristi and I were excited. We planned on being out there for about 20 minutes to an hour, whatever he could handle. Well, we were out there just over two hours and had a riot with Brayden. At first, he kept trying to climb over the side of the boat and into the river, so we didn't think we would last long. We took turns with him playing with the minnows in the livewell He was happy catching minnows and throwing them back in the well. Every once in a while when he got bored, we'd go for a boat ride, and he loved going fast! I got one jumbo perch, and when Brayden saw me pull it in, he dropped his tigger rod like a hot potato and ran for my 10-foot rod When we left to go home, he was asleep by the time we hit the road It was a beautiful day out, and the best day of my life! Here are some pics from the day Good fishing! Aaron

I spent a few days fishing Lake Erie NY the past week for smallies and had a riot. The first day was very slow, but I found some fish shallow (6-12 feet) with X-Raps. My buddy Darrell hit a nice walleye on a tube, but it was pretty slow with a half dozen smallies. The last two trips were awesome though. tons of numbers up to 4lbs, and one about 5. We found some bigger fish this past Saturday and good numbers from 16- to 22-feet of water. They were on Trigger X tubes drifting the deeper water. The water is nice right now with a slight stain, 66 F. If you get the right wind, it's a great day to be on Erie. It is tough for bigger fish now, it's like June conditions, but a ton of fun casting X-raps shallow for 2- to 3-pounders with some bigger fish mixed in. Jerking for smallies is one of my favourite ways to get them, and teasing them into hitting near boatside is cool. I got a bonus jumbo perch and some white bass on X-raps, and a giant drum on a Trigger X tube! A few pics (sorry about the blacked out reel, it's a new high-end Rapala prototype I can't show yet). My friend Darrell with his walleye My buddy Mitch with a couple jerkin smallies My buddy dean with a couple good fish Good fishing! Aaron

Steelhead Opener with Lonnie King
Aaron Shirley replied to Aaron Shirley's topic in General Discussion
Ahhhh, the rod over shoulder pose! I like that.. Think I saw it on FF.net years ago and thought it was a great idea. Half the time I try to balance the rod on one leg my pin falls into a silty creek. It's a pet peeve. I believe that shortens the life on the bearings a lot. My pin fell into the creek off my leg first steelie on opener, then grinded a bit. I took it apart and washed it in the clean part of the creek and it helped for the rest of the day. Yeah, I know, I need bearings. It's long overdue, haven't done them in the 8 years I had that pin, I just got another one LOL Anyone know where I can get bearings replaced around Burlington? -
