  1. Kodak has a new waterproof pocket HD video camera out. It takes great underwater video with sound. It also takes still shots, but not sure how the still shots will be compared to cameras designed more for stills. I'll report on it later in the year.
  2. Wow, out with the Grand-master, nice. great day with quality kitties! WTG I heard Steve is the man on the Grand. Sure kicked our butts last Friday.
  3. Well, this is something that is long overdue. I have meant to do this for years now, and finally spent the time to sign up on Facebook. You are all invited to my Facebook. It will take me a bit to update my profile and figure out how to use Facebook, so if any of you on Facebook have any tips, I would appreciate it. Hope to see you there. Aaron
  4. Thanks everyone, it is nice to have a great day out. Ball9320, please go with a guide, that is a very small boat and it is serious water. Catching chrome isn't worth your life. For the cost of a good guide, you can't go wrong. A couple of years ago, a big whirlpool opened up and sucked in a 20' guide boat and killed 2 of the 3 people.
  5. Awesome day on the river boys. You're reports are killin' me Mike.. I haven't got my waders wet yet this spring.
  6. Very nice crappies WTG!
  7. Yep, only thing hurt was my pride. And oh yeah, after finding that hole I couldn't find my package for over an hour.. It went into hiding! LOL
  8. Yeah, it was a nice day to be out fishing.. And swimming LOL. Yep, it was a brisk swim, but not as bad as we thought. Figured I would try water I haven't been to before away from the heavy boat traffic. Found out in a hurry that it is really shallow a way out from shore to the right near the mouth! Fortunately not even a scratch on the boat or motor, it was all muck. Got off real lucky with a big reminder to be careful boating in new territory. Thanks to the guys that helped tow us out. I couldn't believe the amount of bites we had only to have the fish drop the bait before we could set the hook. Definitely going to try circle hooks next time. Good thing it was warm out, we dried off and got back to fishing quickly. Nothing real big, but a nice day to be out with some nice cats. Biggest cat of the day was the only one I boated at about 12lbs. Good to fish with you again Justin. Aaron
  9. Very nice day out with your kid. He'll remember it for a long time. WTG
  10. Very nice. I am planning to take my 1 year old out for the first time this summer, can't wait.
  11. Nice report. Love the pic.
  12. Very nice fish n pics!
  13. Thanks everyone. Not all trips are this good, so I appreciate the ones that rock! Young_one, I use a full body Kodak Z980. 12mp, 24 optical zoom and smart Capture so it takes great pics in most conditions with great colours. I just like to point and shoot for quick release on fish. It has a wide angle lens and is the best digi cam I have ever used. Good fishing! Aaron
  14. Hey Joey, that is a great steelhead. Nice to hear you had a good time, too bad it was a little slow for you. Those photos are amazing! FYI the bulk of the steelhead enter the lower Niagara River in Sept/Oct and stick around until late May/June. The 'run' is never over by April. I spend most years fishing steelhead in shorts and sandals in late May to early June. It can be difficult fishing at certain times of year, especially when they are full on smelt. I'll send you a PM. Again, awesome photos! Aaron
  15. I hit the Niagara on Saturday with a friend Mitch, and we absolutely hammered them After a couple of lousy trips, I needed this! Well over 20 fish to the boat - stopped counting after a dozen. The action was so good, we didn't take many photos, we just wanted to get back in the water! All damage done on a brand new prototype soft single egg. Not one fish on roe? One laker on a bass Trigger X pink worm. American guides were asking me all day "what the heck are you using?". To which I replied "a new soft single egg that isn't available yet", to their dismay. I gave a few of the new eggs to US guide John Delorenzo to try, and he smashed fish until they were gone, then had a tough time. He boated up to me after and said "are you kidding me? I can't get these things right now?". Haha, afraid not John, you'll have to wait until next year. Here are some pics from our day. Mitch has some pics on his camera of himself. Good fishing! Aaron
  16. Awesome run of steel man! Didn't know you fish Ontario tribs LOL
  17. Better luck next time. It is a cool way to fish. I know what you mean about a lack of tackle LOL Definitely need 2 good anchors. I will be down there this weekend. Good fishing! Aaron
  18. I just logged on to OFC with my Blackberry, and got redirected to OFC mobile. This is great, as most of my time to get on-line these days is with my phone. I don't have much time to get on-line at home anymore. Most large sites have this feature now, but I think this is a first for a fishing forum. Well done boys! Aaron
  19. The new Canadian Rapala aluminum Andros reel is nice. It's a round reel that comes in a 400 size for musky. Not sure off hand what the gear ratio is.
  20. Very nice pike! WTG! I fished a bit Saturday and got skunked. My buddy Tim lost a heavy tho. Aaron
  21. The Shift rods are available now, although they may be hard to find early, as they will not last long on the shelves, they will be hot ticket items. They should have them showcased at the Sportsman Show. Aaron
  22. You can't go wrong with the new Canadian series Rapala rods and reels. They are well priced and very well designed and made. The Avantis combos are nice, and the Volt and RType reels are sweet, as well as the TS2, XLT, RType and Shift rods. I will be at the Sportsman Show on Saturday and Sunday at the Rapala booth, and would be happy to show them to you. I know you will be impressed. Good fishing! Aaron
  23. Barry and I will be at Bass Pro and the Sportsman Show this weekend doing seminars and we will also be in the Rapala booth at the Sportsman Show. We have a seminar at Bass Pro on Saturday at 10:30am. We will be at the Sportsman show from mid-day Saturday to Sunday. Sportsman Show seminars will be at 6pm Saturday and 11am Sunday. We hope to see some of you fellow OFC'ers there! Aaron Shirley
  24. Queenston boat ramp is at the end of Dumfries road in Queenston. Good luck, but take a 4x4 truck, shovel, salt and ice chisel with you for winter and early spring. Aaron
