Hey guys, I just called Snook Haven in Venice, but they dont rent motor boats out, they only rent canoe's and kayaks. I am a little timid about being in a canoe with 12 ft gators in the river. Does anyone know where I can rent a boat around the venice area (for freshwater fishing). I really hate just having to fish from shore, but if worse comes to worse, I guess I will have no choice!

Wow, thanks very much for all the info everyone! I was in touch with a Bait & Tackle store out of Sarasota and they also said the Snook Haven is the place to go. They are also one of the only places to rent boats, so I hear. I am really hoping to join the 10 lb club this time down! My last trip down resulted in my PB of just over 9lb (my avatar picture). The standard for the past couple years is an SP2 recovery disc comes with your new machine. Also, XP's firewall is turned on by default. But I am sure you already knew that, by the way your talking. I know a thing or two about computers. so I think I would know if my machines are infected or not. March to my own drummer? LOL I was simply trying to save people some money who think they HAVE to have anti-virus software installed. Thanks for the 2 cents though.

Geesh, that really sucks. Sorry to hear about that. I have a 3 yr old 50" Sony LCD, which is excellent. When it comes to higher-end electronics, you cant go wrong with Sony. They might be a little more expensive than other brands, but you get what you pay for when it comes to technology. My family will always buy Sony. We have always dealt with G&G Electronics in Scarborough for all our electronic needs, and they have been nothing but top-of-the-line.

Ha ha ha, thanks for the advice. Luckily, my in-laws are driving back to Florida this week, so they are taking my stuff down with them. That way I dont have to worry about anything being lost, stolen, or broken by the sometimes-ignorant airport staff! Showering with my rods.......good idea, but I can just imaging what my wife is going to say! hahahaha I am really hoping to top my PB (in the picture). I REALLY want to join the 10 lb club!

Infected - as in cookies with spyware on them. Not worms. But this is getting off topic. I am not here to argue over surfing habits. Again, all I am saying is that you dont HAVE to have anti-virus software. Just be careful as to what you are opening.

Cant say I have heard of a website that puts a worm on your computer just by visiting it. Maybe it would put a cookie in there, but not a worm. All I was saying is that unless you actually do something, you wont just get a virus. So anti-virus isnt "needed", its just an extra measure of security in case someone does something they shouldnt.

Believe it or not, you DONT need any anti-virus software on your comptuer. The ONLY way to get a virus is if you (or the user) actually click on something you shouldnt. If you are a careful user and dont open/click anything that you arent sure of the source, then anti-virus software is a waste of money for you. I am a Web Developer / Computer Technician, and have NEVER run anti-virus on any of my machines, and have never had a virus. I hope this will save some people some money in the future. P.S - Norton causes more problems then it fixes! Def get rid of Norton.

Hey everyone, Just wondering if anyone knows of some decent lakes to go Bass fishing near Venice, Florida? I know there are a bunch of great lakes near Orlando/Kississimee (thats where I caught my avatar picture fish), but I wont be anywhere near there this time, so I was hoping someone knows of a spot close (within an hour or so) from Venice? Any help is much appreciated!

Hey there, I was just in the DR a few weeks back, and though I didnt go fishing, while walking along the beach, I saw numerous fish just cruising up and down the shoreline. As well as while out in a peddle-boat. I would expect that you would catch something with jigs and such. Might sound a little funny, but instead of spending a bunch of money to go out, just use the peddle-boats that the resort has. Good luck! *Stoty

Thanks for the replies everyone! I should have mentioned that I would like a lake where I can bring my boat to. With my buddy (6'4, 300lbs), and all our camping stuff, we have to have a boat just to carry everything! Again, thanks for the replies, and I cant wait to try out some of the spots!

I would agree with that. I am like a bear..... I hibernate (as much as I can) in the winter! I hate going outside to start my truck, yet alone camping!!!

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone knows a decent lake on crown land (so we can camp anywhere on the lake/islands), and the fishing is decent. My buddy and I have been doing this annual trip for 2 yrs now and have went to Deerock Lake both years. We would catch tons of fish, but our biggest was 2.1 lbs. We are used to catching nice fish, and were really disapointed. We are looking for a lake within 3 hrs of the GTA with good bass & pike fishing. AMEN!!!! I am glad I'm not the only one who thinks he is the MOST USELESS player in the game today. Not only is he WAY overpaid, but he is one of the biggest p*ssies in the NHL. Doesnt stop goals, doesnt score goals (unless they are on his own net), and doesn't fight. He is giving Canadian hockey players a bad name. Its too bad the leafs are loosing, because Toskala and Raycroft are playing amazingly, despite the scores.
