  1. Very simple Blaque, Let out however much line you want behind the planer board. Then if you look at the Church Tackle board you can see it has a release clip towards the front of the board, and a slot and pin at the back. You want to TIGHTLY put your line in the release clip (You don't actually want it to release when a fish hits) Then lift the pin up and slide the line into that slot at the back, and the line continues to your lure. When a fish hits, you are reeling the planer board up to the boat then releaseing the line from the clip and slot in the back and continuing to fight the fish. Tony
  2. $1 deposit on Timmies cups. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it If 1/3 of the garbage is TH cups, and there is probably over 10 million pieces of garbage littered in the GTA. That's at least $3 million dollars worth of refunds waiting to be scooped. Garbage picking would be a profitable business Bah! Who am I kidding? Why would TH worry about having to deal with coffee cup returns? They only thing they want to take in is $$$
  3. Sounds like a good trip, that's a lot of live bait though! Do you not use artificial lures? As far as the vampire bluegills, they sell a product to keep your nipples protected. I think it is call the Manzier or Bro! Good fishing, Tony
  4. Here is a picture of one caught from Nipissing
  5. What size Dipsy fishmaster? With or without the ring? That's a lot of crap on the line when fighting a fish too!
  6. Fishmaster I agree, and also a level wind reel is preferrable. Minimum 10-12lb test for the boards (20 or 30lb PowerPro is ideal) I have seen a 'Pro' rig with the Offshores that allow them to 'skip' in instead of fighting against the pull, but I am not at liberty to share that information Terry, Dipsies do plane but you can only really safely run 1 or 2 at most and they are only effective on spooky fish in deep water as they require depth to get further from the boat. For shallow water, planer boards are the only way to target spooky fish that get pushed to either side of the boat. Uncle Buck, no the big dipsies will pull the boards under.
  7. Hey Evan, There are 2 good in-line planer boards that are popular. Church Tackle's Walleye Board - Has a great release that can be used with braided lines. Adjustable keel, and Can support lead core or mini dipsy diver. Offshore Side Planer = Has rubber pad style release, good for mono, not for braid. Can support lead core or mini dipsy diver. For braid you need to upgrade the releases on the boards (~$10-$15) I have seen guys running up to 3 boards on each side of the boat. Either model are great in rough water. Be sure to tie a swivel on the line about 4-6' up from your lure, and put a bead in front of it in case the board pops and slides all the way to the end of your line. Without the swivel & bead the board could slide right down to the fish and knock the lure out of it's mouth. Tony
  8. CARP FACTORY!!! Why fish for anything else? 20+ fish days with possibility of a 50lb'er Break out the corn! Tony
  9. There is no better way to learn the ins and outs of salmon fishing on Lake Ontario, it's a turbo charged salmon fishing lesson . All the guys competing in the tournament are the cream of the crop and know how to put dozens of fish in the boat everyday (for some, except on tournament days for some crazy reason ). There is a great restaurant/bar at the facilities where they have the tourney hosted and a bunch of great guys to hang out with. Tourney runs both saturday and sunday, a lot of guys will take you out fishing on friday when they are pre-fishing if you are their observer, it's like a free salmon fishing charter Tony
  10. Try sending a PM to 'Darrell' on gettinghooked forums. I believe he has a buddy that is in the spray foam insulation trade. Tony
  11. Indeed, there are minimum requirements (eg. 15 SEER AC min and 92% AFUE min Furnace). Point being, for myself we are upgrading to those specs anyway, might as well put some money back in our pockets while reducing operating costs for our home at the same time. Tony
  12. It's called the ecoEnergy Retrofit and you can get thousands of dollars in grants from the Gov't. Basically you pay for an energy efficiency evaluation for your home (~$450-$500). They give your home a score and reccommend improvements to do to improve your score (Eg. Attic insulation, Replace Furnace or AC to high efficient models, seal cracks and drafts, etc) Then you complete whatever improvements you decide and they make a second visit to score your improvements. Based on that score you qualify for the grants. Many people are replacing Air conditioning units, furnaces, etc this is a great way to get some money back. http://www.oee.nrcan.gc.ca/corporate/retro...mary.cfm?attr=4 P.S. The Provincial Gov't has stepped up to match the Federal Gov't grants listed on the website above, dollar for dollar. So replacing an AC unit says $200, as of now, it's $400. For even more savings on AC, Furnace, Programmable thermostat check out http://www.coolsavingsrebate.com - Up to $800 in your pocket! Hope this helps some of you Tony
  13. bp_swing, this board isn't really the Fast Food of fishing sites, we don't aim to have Millions and Millions served, but instead value and foster the common interest we all share...Fishing! A little introduction and contribution goes a long way. That being said...I haven't fished in that particular area, but 'productive musky water' isn't always where everyone else is fishing. Look for cover adjacent to deeper water including weed edges, pockets, rock piles etc and work the areas thoroughly. Fish with confidence and you should hook into some fish. There is a healthy Musky population so the fish will all have their own territories scattered throughout the lake. Have fun! and welcome to the site. Tony Tony
  14. Chomp!!! pt. 2 I think you need to sharpen those hooks though TJ, that's 0 for 2 Tony
  15. Thanks Jen! I am dying to get my boat and start dragging my non-fishing family members out with me, they need to get off their asses and spend some time outside Tony
  16. YUMMY! Can't beat getting out and fishing with the family! Do you just have regular water in the ziploc bags to prevent freezer burn? Does it affect the flavour at all? Tony
  17. Thanks for the report Cliff! Cute gloves
  18. Crikee! Hah! mistyriver1, I was just going to say, Mepps doesn't look as brave as Crazyhook, but still... Great photos as always, the little one is going to be holding a rod before you know it! Tony
  19. CHOMP!!!
  20. Check these out if you are looking to replace hooks, makes life easy! Gamakatsu Magic Eye Treble Hooks "The eye on the Magic Eye Treble has a special shape that is designed to open split rings. The top portion of the eye has a tapered flat portion that easily fits between the wires of the split ring and with one little twist, separates them and the hook slides right on. Simply push the hook onto the split ring while, at the same time, pushing the old hook off. There’s no need to dig around looking for split ring pliers anymore. In addition to the unique design of the eye, the Magic Eye Treble features everything else anglers have come to expect from Gamakatsu like three sticky sharp points and very strong steel."
  21. I'm sure this wouldn't be an issue for them if the magnets stated 'Support Our New Taxes' Tony
  22. Burlington - Black skies...high winds...it's here!
  23. They should be able to get some panfish fishing from shore. If you tell him to cross over the dam and fish at that end of the lake it is usually decent. But there should be panfish scattered all over. If he is going to fish the creek, it is a sanctuary from the dam downstream to the footbridge. I don't think they stock trout there anymore but if they do it can be good fishing from the dam in the early morning and evening the week of trout opener. Tony
  24. Don't listen to these guys, it's the 30th hehe
  25. Do you just roll over to do your figure-8's? Hold your breath!! Tony
