Where is the line drawn then? Can I post my own speed limits on the street in front of my house? Too far? Maybe I'll make my own speed bumps instead? This is public water and this isn't an 1950's western movie. -
Multiple news sites are saying it is the forest fire in Minnesota.

Having Craig there was great. He would gas up the boats every day, cleaned some fish, stoked the wood stove, prepared the coffee at night and many other things as well.

Topwater walleye was one of my goals for the trip. I've heard of it, but not seen it first hand. The walleye were super aggressive, I really didn't use any traditional walleye lures and yet had no problems catching loads of them. Good to meet you too. I never put the two together (that is was your bear on the plane) I got to fly up front but the other guys said there wasn't any smell. My brother and I never got into the "big" pike (high 30s to low 40s) but that's fishing. Everything else was pretty much bang on.

That old rod proves that catch and release does work.

Loading the otter Unloading the otter Second cast little pike on a topwater Third cast, a walleye on the same topwater After that I just started pulling lures out of my box. I would switch lures after every fish. It took over forty minutes before I took more then 10 casts with a lure. Oh ya, my camera man caught some fish to. The cabin First of many double headers. We had pike double headers and pike/walleye double headers This lure was one of the more productive ones although after the third day I rarely used it. Spoon fed walleye We ate like kings... ... but most went back Even took the time to jig for a few Some sunsets and night shots One Three One again Smoke on the water The view out the cabin window Spruce grouse I keep trying to take a photo of my brother's last fish of the trip, but we kept catching more and I gave up. Almost the last fish of the trip. My brother looked for just the right piece of driftwood all week. Plane coming in to get us Sore necks? Do not touch anything! Closing the door on a great trip. “Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” Henry David Thoreau

Google says it is also 10 km shorter.

Type in departure and destination in google maps. It will give you the distance and duration. The distance is usually bang on. The duration not so much, since they use the acuall posted speed limits and don't factor for rush hour hassles. Border crossing time can be an issue but I don't think the North Dakota crossing would be a big deal and even a 2/3hour wait at Sarnia would likely still have you ahead of schedule. Even back in the day when our dollar was 65 cents to the buck, gas was still cheap enough to make the US route a favourable option for many.

Wow Randy, you may need a wrist brace.

You used it all summer and this is the first time this happened? That seems a bit odd. Mono or tape work very well. I prefer to use the mono method 'cause I like to fill the spool up a bit with some backing to save on expensive braid. Some of the new reels have arbors that you can direct tie the braid to them, I still use mono backing.

Well how about that, a coffee thread turned to a fishing thread. It's normaly goes the other way.;-)

Yep, I do it at the end of each day. Just make sure you also remember to reset them at the start of the next day. -

I agree.

Legal? I don't think so but I don't know. I do think there is a time and place however. Remote area and you don't want fish guts (aka bear chanel No 5 ) near your site. I think it's fine to dump the guts far away. Busy lake with lots of residents and kids swimming. Not going to make you the favorite on the lake. Lots of grey between those 2 extremes.

Great trip. Don't cheap out on replacement paddles.

My mom jokes (I think) that my son makes all the trouble I was worthwhile.

To quote your own FIVE YEAR OLD link: "East and West Not all experts, however, paint as grim a picture as the WWF report. Vjekoslav Ticina, a tuna expert at the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries in Split, Croatia, agrees that "fishing bluefin tuna over maximum sustainable yield cannot be sustained over the long term and will eventually lead toward a decrease in wild bluefin tuna biomass. "However, I think the WWF is exaggerating [in its depiction of the situation]," he said. Ticina says there are two bluefin tuna stocks, one in the eastern Atlantic with a spawning site in the central part of the Mediterranean Sea and the other in the western Atlantic with a spawning site in the Gulf of Mexico. "The state of the tuna stock in the Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic is much better than the state of [tuna] stock in the western Atlantic," Ticina said. That is in part because tuna in the western stock start to spawn at age eight or higher, while tuna in the eastern stock begin to spawn at age four. "[The eastern stock] can consequently sustain higher fishing pressure than western stock," Ticina said." The industry is regulated. If you think things should be done differently change your aim and use more current information.
