  1. "we're not idiots, a little crazy maybe." “This is my third time I’ve had to be rescued on the ice,” Borrelli said, http://m.thebarrieexaminer.com/articleDisplay.aspx?e=3496995
  2. Come on, I wanted the punctuation changed.
  3. I'll need some more punctuation then.
  4. If you are so inclined read the comments from readers attached to the various news articles. That is how the much of the general, non-outdoors, public views all of us.
  5. Love cork. Hate the synthetic stuff. My head is willing to allow that the today's synthetic stuff (not that foam junk from 25 years ago) is likely better, lighter, and more sensitive, but my heart does not care, and never will. In time I am sure my kids will snicker and make fun of me, but I will not waver.
  6. Some people risked their lives and were very fortunate today despite their decisions. Some people risked their lives because that's their job (and we thank them). Some people stayed home based on the conditions.
  7. Agreed, no one heads out thinking "I'm gonna' be on T.V." but we are also judging someone by questioning their comments. So yes, it is too easy to judge someone else.
  8. "What's that sound? Is it raining?" "Shhhhh, I had to pee, and didn't feel like falling out the a tree at 3am."
  9. Hurry! I can hear you wife coming. Hide that stuff in with your other tackle and eat the receipts.
  10. I have 2 rods, a 5 foot ultra light and a 7 foot light action rod. Originally the 7 footer was for streams that are not as over grown, but now I use it in all but the nastiest places because the extra length is really useful when I'm just dunking a spinner in the middle of a log jam.
  11. 2 piece rods have improved, but so have 1 piece rods. A $15K car will get me to work just about the same as a $35K one will. Buy the type that suits your needs, wants and budget.
  12. I don't remember this being posted before. This site has information on cold water emersion, life jackets. floater coats and such. http://www.coldwaterbootcamp.com/pages/home.html
  13. The smart in me wants to say: "Start fishing for walleye". Cause those gumbas always catch 'skis. Many with more, and better, experience than me I'm sure will provide lots of advice but the one bit I would say is: try to spend time on the water with someone who knows their stuff. Watch, listen and learn. No one starts off being an expert.
  14. Last year I was interested in putting my hands on their shift series reels, not the rods, to see how they felt compared to my standard reels. None to be found at a retailer. I likly would have bought the same reels anyway but I wanted to see what they had to offer.
  15. I just provide the shovel. Someone else chooses to dig.
  16. Watch the sens play, watch the grass grow. Same difference.
  17. Good. Spring is coming, and I'll need to fertilize my lawn.
  18. That's it eh? You're been going on for pages and you're done. Be still, my beating heart. Come on, provide some more of your facts, they are so ever entertaining.
  19. Here.
  20. You've created a composite fan that only exists in your mind to suit your stance. Sheep, and goats, Leaf's Nation are not. As you would know if you could follow the discussion above.
  21. It changes.
  22. Most of us are not using winches for reels. You don't crank a fish in with the reel, you recover the line with it. The rod moves the line. Not saying someone is "wrong" for doing things differently then convention, but sometimes the reasoning for why things are done a particular way has flaws.
  23. Just read an article that suggested that the only comparable UFA this summer is a 33 year old named Olli Jokinen. Slim pickins indeed.
  24. Partisanship aside, why do I have to pay full price for my ticket and the suit next to me gets to write it off on my back?
  25. By only reading the quote listed I'm not sure if he meant letting the goal stand was the mistake or that the "new" interpretation of the rule for that season was the mistake. Both were a mistake, but he has made so many it's really hard to list a top ten.
