  1. http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/british-columbia/ottawa-defends-proposed-fisheries-act-changes/article2372325/?service=mobile From today's Globe and Mail.
  2. Received an email from cabelas about their app. I haven't checked it out yet, just passing it along.
  3. The last couple of times when i've been going over the post trip game report in my mind and the walleye have been "on" the trolled perch lures I think to myself that I should have tried the hot n tot. Maybe this year.
  4. Steelhead running in Edmonton?
  5. I have a perch hot n tot that I used to catch a lot of smallmouth on. I don't use it much any more, mostly because it is too light to cast with baitcasters. but it still makes into the boat on most trips.
  6. And you're not missing much watching rds. The root sports feed that tsn2 is using is brutal.
  7. He would have had a goal 8 seconds into his first shift, but Kennedy decided to shoot from the circle instead of pass to an open Sid at the side of the net. Practice speed is much different than mid March game speed.
  8. Since I've added a 2 bit comment I should try to add some value. I almost always bring 2 tackle stores worth on a short half day trip, so limiting myself would be really difficult. I like Leechman's breakdown. top water: zara spook mid depth (down to 12 feet or so): any number of rapalas, husky jerks, x-raps deeper: deep taildancers and the mid depth ones on a three way And always enough jigs to sink a battleship. My first colour option is almost always "natural", that's me, but it is also about the clear waters that I tend to fish most often.
  9. You put 'em that high on the tee someone is going take a swing.
  10. What ever Frankie, we want to know what Juli wouldn't leave home without.
  11. How I suspect the conversation between the two may have gone before the ice began to move: Angler #1 "Did you hear about those clowns that had to be plucked of the ice flow on Simcoe the other day?" Angler #2 "Ya. Can you believe those guys?" Angler #1 "Some people eh." Angler #2 "So where should we fish today?" Angler #1 "How about over there. No one to be seen for miles." Angler #2 "Good call." Angler #1 "Lets hurry and get there before someone else." Angler #2 "Yep, some people." .... "Did you hear something?"
  12. No it did not pass last year. It might come up again. I believe the main focus was fire crews on car accident scenes.
  13. Two guys were just rescued off of a flow today.
  14. Two guys on ice flow on Simcoe. http://m.thebarrieexaminer.com/articleDisplay.aspx?e=3499699 And again, the comments at the end of the article from the readers say a lot.
  15. Sometimes its fun just to watch the looks from the floaters when you fish a beat with a baitcaster.
  16. I see no benefit in having all fluoro on a spool. If you need stealth use a long leader of fluoro or mono. Really good fluoro sucks on a spool, and I don't like the compromises needed to make it manageable on a spool.
  17. If it is spinners or spoons you are not likely to negatively impact the action with different hooks. If it is a plug then you want to be a little more careful. For most you can go 1 size larger. When I'm at the store I just grab another lure off the shelf and bring it over to the hooks and compare the sizes.
  18. Ya that wall is a piece of junk. I like Spiel's idea. Use it and then display it and a couple of photos.
  19. Good chance I'll be going in the next week or so... It just depends on when the baby arrives.
  20. It was likely part of the deal when he won the essay contest for the trip.
