  1. We've got a corner jacuzzi in one of the bathrooms and we never use it so we figured lets just pull it out and we'll gain a whole bunch of room. Next we'll get rid of the existing ceramic tiles and redo the whole room over. So i get going about 8 this morning and remove the enclosure around the tub, remove the motor, the electrics, the plumbing and then use the recip to cut the tub in half and haul it out to the yard. Everythings going great and all that's left to do is go downstairs, remove a couple ceiling tiles and cut the copper tubing away and the jacuzzi part of the demo's pretty well done. I couldn't find my tube cutter but that's OK, I'll just use the hacksaw. Trouble was I had to work in an awkward spot and after about 6 strokes of the saw, I got my finger in the way and made a deeper cut on my knuckle than the copper tubing. I tried to continue working but was bleeding like a stuck pig so off I go to the hospital down in Peterboro. Couple hours in emerg, 5 stitches across my knuckle and then home with my finger wrapped in thick bandages. Amazing how 1 second of not paying attention can mess up a whole day's work
  2. I only suggested Lower Buck because I was under the impression you only had the one day to fish and you said you were familiar with the lake. If it's a 50 your looking for though, your better off heading east, north or west of the Kawarthas. The K's have some 50's but their few & far between.
  3. They'll appreciate it Fred.
  4. Thanks guys, and if I'm correct, Annapolis is the last remaining ship of this class so this may be a fitting tribute to what was a very modern anti-submarine weapon when they 1st came out in the late 50's.
  5. If Belle River is close enough for you, we've always stayed in the Petit Dragon Motel and never had an issue. Decent clean rooms around $70 for a pair of beds, micro wave & mini fridge and nice folks that own the place. Several good restaurants & a Timmies within 5 minutes walk and only 2 minutes to a great boat ramp with plenty of parking..
  6. Thanks Bruce, I had more than a few wets aboard the old girl back in the day and If I was a couple thousand miles closer I'd be there wishing her farewell in person this Saturday.
  7. Yup, and their already seasoned LOL
  8. Do ya think ??
  9. Back in my Navy days in the 60's I served aboard HMCS Annapolis. She was a great ship and I covered a lot of salt water aboard her. After she was decommissioned years later a private company bought her from the Canadian government with plans to sink her off the west coast of British Columbia and use her as a dive sight. The sinking was fought in court for years with enviromental groups who were opposed as they thought it would pollute the waters, but the fight is over now and my old ship will be going to the bottom this coming Saturday. Sad to see her end like this but I spose it's better than being turned into razor blades. http://artificialreef.bc.ca/images/Documents/Annapolis/Annapolis%20Sink-%20Press%20Release_%2025%20Mar%2015.pdf Here's a couple pictures of her in better days And here's one Terry did years ago when he made it my musky boat Don't know if any of you guys are interested in this stuff but any skuba divers around here would probably like the opportunity to dive around an old warship.
  10. That's a LOT of water to learn in a weekend Shaun
  11. I cursed a wee bit myself until it dawned on me what day it is. Definitely a gotcha
  12. After 60 odd years of fishing I'm sure I've fished more than most on this board...including you. Tournies & derbies are perfectly legal and are enjoyed by thousands every year. If I go to a lake that's hosting a tournament and I find it too busy I simply drive a bit further to another lake. As I said above, if you don't like something don't do it, and if your not happy with a lake, just move along to the next one, it's all very simple really. One thing about Ontario, we do have more than a couple lakes.
  13. Never seen the show before but I'll have a look when it comes on. Thanks for the heads-up
  14. Hope you do well with your baits too Mike. Not sure if I even told you before, but this 51"er came on that blue/silver & chrome blade bucktail you gave me that morning at Mr. Sub. in Belle River.
  15. We always had some good times getting together for breakfast or dinner after the show Mike. I won't be attending this year but hopefully everybody has a great time.
  16. If 5000 people fish this derby, that means 5000 people ENJOY fishing this derby. If you don't want to fish it....DON'T Why the heck are so many people concerned with what others do ??
  17. If your familiar with Lower Buck that's where you should go. The lake is loaded with muskies and it's within your 3 hour drive. Clip on a big spinnerbait or bucktail and go cast the weeds & rocks.
  18. I was in Bridgenorth today and it's starting to open at the east side of the causeway
  19. Outstanding LOL
  20. Now working for me too with Chrome.
  21. I've kept in close contact with Kevin & Leslie since the camp shut down and was just talking with Kevin a few weeks back. He was feeling pretty good and we laughed and talked alot about the good times. Leslie called me this afternoon to tell me that Kevin has taken a sharp downward turn the last couple weeks and is now in a hospice (palliative care) in Sudbury and asked me to pass it on to everyone who's known him over the years. Leslie's email is [email protected] and she said Kevin would really enjoy hearing from anyone who'd like to email him. He's having some good days and then not so good so it'd cheer him up to hear from old friends. He's in Maisonvale Hospice in Sudbury Leslie said she'll call me when the time is here and asked me to inform everyone. For those that don't know Kevin, he's Capt. Hooked on this board and him & his wife Leslie own Lakair Lodge on the West Arm of Lake Nippissing, and unfortunately he's been fighting cancer for several years now. A bunch of us from this board had a great time there every June for a lot of years and it became a big part of OFC with many fantastic memories.
  22. If he seems lonely Joe, you can send him up this way, there's always lots of his buds hanging out in my yard LOL
  23. Always cool when the critters stop by to visit Joe. lol
  24. It's not old news if you haven't heard it before.
  25. Great post Simon, not many things in this world better than a good & loyal pooch. Just over a year now since Marvin passed away, but there's not a day goes by that I'm not thinking of all the great times we had together for 18 years.
