  1. Hoping to put net under a 50" Nippissing musky for my wife this summer.
  2. It is indeed a terrible disease, my bud who is 85 years old has had it for 35 years now. It affected his knees and ankles so bad he has braces on both legs and needs a cane or scooter to get around.
  3. That just might be your best tale yet Drew, really a great read !!
  4. I don't feel so bad now LOL
  5. Watching this evenings news it seems like the snow was kind of wide spread around Ontario. Oh well, the long range forecast is looking pretty good for the next week or so. I was just talking to friends in Arizona and they said it's 86 degrees down there.
  6. I looked out the window 20 minutes ago and the sun was shining. Five minutes later it was snowing so stinking hard I could barely see the end of my yard and now the sun is poking through the clouds again. But the best news is I have ONE tulip opening in the garden
  7. I drove along the Otonabee River south of Lakefield yesterday and parts of the river are still low while other sections are about normal. Looks like their adjusting the water flows between the dams to get everything regulated. For anyone that doesn't know, the river runs between Lake Katchawanooka at Lakefield and Rice Lake and for the most part is only a couple hundred feet wide. Basically, the entire Trent system has to be funnelled through this narrow river into Rice Lake and eventually into the Bay of Quinte and personally, I think the guys normally do a pretty darned good job of regulating it. If they let too much water through they flood everything below Lakefield and if they hold it back, there's flooding in the northern lakes. If they flood the northern lakes, their told their doing a lousy job of regulating the flow, and if they flood the southern part, their told their doing a lousy of regulating the flow. Sort of a lose lose job if you ask me.
  8. Like my backyard
  9. Don't be intimidated by a baitcast reel, their just another tool and are as easy to use as a hammer once you get the hang of them. As others have suggested, adjust it as you become more familiar with the settings and don't try to over power your cast. In a very short time you'll have the settings correct & you'll be tossing your baits across the lake and birds nests will be nothing more than a distant memory.
  10. Great picture Brian and good to see you flying the Maple Leaf proudly.
  11. A few years back I spent an evening sitting in John Andersons living room yakking about muskies with him. Very nice guy and extremely knowledgable about muskies.
  12. Very nicely done, excellent job !!
  13. 5 days ago Clear Lake in the Kawarthas was still covered in ice, 2 days ago the north half was open and the bottom half was still ice covered and this morning it's 100 % open water. Sure is nice to finally see the sun sparkling on the waves.
  14. Back when I had a 16'er with a 90 Merc I used a Happy Troller and it was excellent and slowed my boat down to a crawl. I no longer need to troll slow but if I ever decided to get back into that kind of fishing I'd buy another without hesitation. Nice being able to troll without having drag buckets or socks behind the boat. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CC8QFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.davisnet.com%2Fmarine%2Fproducts%2Flist_marine.asp%3Fgrp%3Dmo2&ei=2GkyVfGQMtDHsQSc94CYBQ&usg=AFQjCNH1xBJtThHCsiMkAJN5_xL7r9o2hA
  15. My wheel barrow tire was only 5 years old but completely weather checked and wouldn't hold air this year either. I took the wheel down to a local tire dealer on Thursday and he replaced the tire. Total cost out the door was $33
  16. I posted these pictures a couple weeks back but things are even worse now. Here's the bridge at Burliegh Falls a year ago and is normal for this time of year. Here's the same place 2 weeks ago and you can see how much lower it is than normal I didn't get a picture but I was just over that bridge an hour ago and where those rapids are in the 2nd picture is basically bare rocks today and about 1/2 the amount of water from 2 weeks ago. I live at Clear Lake 3 miles south of Burliegh Falls and the lake is about 2' lower than normal for this time of year.
  17. Both my son & brother were excellent golfers and consistently shot in the low 80's, but me on the other hand, I was the worlds worst golfer and only broke 100 once in my life but I had a blast playing and that's all I cared about. I knew a guy years ago who was a member of a course out in Pickering and was always bragging about what an excellent golfer he was. He invited me to join him one day and after a couple holes I realized this doofus was as bad at me, but even worse he was a cheat. Most shots he'd end up in the woods and I'd hear him thrashing away at the ball, then when he finally get on the green it was another 3 or 4 shots to get in the hole. Trouble was though when he marked the score card he gave himself either a birdie or par on every hole Didn't bother me though as I was having a fun day and didn't care about my score or his. Problem was, after the game we went into the club house for a beer & samich and he started bragging to all his buds about what a great game he had and how he'd beaten the daylights out of me and what a lousy player I was. He didn't like it though when I explained to his buds that he was worse than me and cheated on every single hole. It was hilarious watching him try to squirm out of that one. He never invited me out again
  18. Funny thing Joe, one of my worst cuts did come from a musky & that girl got me for 8 stitches LOL
  19. Very often at accidents or fires or whatever, passersby like to stop just to watch what's going on. Trouble is though, all they do is get in the way and more times than not they block the way and emergency crews have trouble getting to the scene which just delays fixing whatever the problem is. If you can be of immediate assistance and nobody else is around, go ahead and stop and do what you can, but if all you want to do is gawk at those in trouble, do everyone a favour and just keep on going. You made a good decision Nick.
  20. Don't worry about it Nick, nobody was injured and the bus will be insured. Not much sense in stopping if you feel you couldn't have done much to help with the fire anyways.
  21. Nope, no choice on the color, if you don't like blue I spose they let you bleed LOL
  22. There's already a linen closet in the room but it's out of range of the camera. Just to the left of that towel rack is the shower.
  23. Thanks guys Steve, the tiles are porcelain and we're installed by a local company who has about the best reputation in the area. I do most reno's myself but when it comes to expensive flooring I like to leave it to the experts. Their coming back on Monday and installing hardwood in our bedroom.
  24. It's my smile Phil, they can tell I'm too nice a guy to do anything wrong
  25. I suggested that but the boss didn't agree LOL
