  1. Sonny, I put them all about 5" above the floor and find that works well for me, but you may find something different would suit you better. I keep some stuff on a shelf up under the consol and the one under there is nice too when I'll searching for anything. You'll like the orange as it gives off a decent light without ruining your vision. I'll be on Hay Bay on the long weekend in May and hopefully see you guys out there too.
  2. Sonny, I ran a string of 6 orange clearance lights around the inside of my boat down close to the floor and hooked them permanently to a switch. I know you said you'd prefer temporary, but these only stick out about 1" and never get in the way. In addition to those 6 I also put one up underneath the consol and one in front to give some light in the bow area and you can see that one in the photograph just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. I'm on the water till 10 or 11 almost every night and these orangle lights work perfectly yet they don't interfere with your night vision. I turn them off though when I'm fishing as I'd rather fish in the darkness and then just switch them on when required. I also wear a headlamp incase I need a bit of extra light for fine work, plus it keeps my hands free and also comes in very handy when I'm alone in the boat and trying to land a big fish in total darkness. Hope that helps you some.
  3. Thanks Paul, that's what I figured but wanted to be sure before I made a trip to the store. And RG, I went with a Lowrance X510c to sit beside my Globalmap 7200 and am just looking to clean up some of the wiring under the consol as it looks like a birdsnest under there. Just a bit of house cleaning really.
  4. I've currentely got 2 sonars plus a GPS in my boat and tomorrow I'll be replacing the sonar on the console with a new color unit. Right now I have everything grounded to different connections on the fuse panel under the consol but I think I'll change things around a bit and run the ground for all 3 units to the back of the boat and hook them to the cranking battery. If I remember correctly, the wires from the 3 units is all #16, and I want to join all 3 wires under the consol to a single wire and run that wire to the battery. Total run for the grounding wire from consol to battery will be about 18 - 20 feet, so what size wire would be best to use. I've already got a 25' role of #16, but should I go heavier ??
  5. I've got my fingers crossed for your dad, Dave, and hopefully things will work out for him. Princess Margaret is one of the best cancer facilities anywhere and your dad will be in good hands.
  6. I know how your feeling Brian, it was 11 years ago today that my dad died and today would have also been my son's 41st birthday.
  7. Tightlines..............905-837-0544 West side of Brock Rd in Pickering.....1000' south of 401 Turn into the 1st driveway south of the big flag pole One of the best fishin stores anywhere !!
  8. It's been a few years now since I targetted bass, but twitching Rapalas on the surface was a favorite technique of mine too. I liked to toss it out and let it sit for maybe 30 seconds before the 1st twitch and it was always a fun way to get a few fish. It was about 10 years ago and I never did it before and haven't done it since, but twice in one week I got 2 fish on the same bait using that twitching method with a Rapala. Both times a pair of fish grabbed the bait at the same time, the instant I made the 1st twitch. All 4 were all only small fish but they made for some good laffs in the boat
  9. I was talking to a few of the locals up there on the weekend and it sounds like a lot of docks have been pulled from their footings and drifted out into the lakes after all the high water this year, so it looks like we'll have to be even more careful on the water this spring. Don't want to be hitting a submerged dock in the middle of the lake at 40 MPH
  10. Like I always say Wayne, you don't need to catch a fish to have a great day of fish'n. Good to see you boyz had a good day on the bay
  11. We spent this past weekend at my buds place north of Peterboro and took a drive around the area to check out the high water that's causing so many problems for some folks in the area. This is the lock at Lakefield and it gives a pretty good indication of the amount of water being dumped into the narrow Otonabee River south of town. It doesn't show too well in the pics, but some of these waves were close to 5' high. Hard to believe boats will be navigating these waters in a couple more weeks......hopefully. This is the dam at Youngs Point a few miles north of Lakefield. The 3rd picture is the ice flows coming down from Clear Lake and some of these were about 200 sq. ft. and 4-5" thick. The water was about 5' above normal in this area but has evidentely dropped about a foot in the last few days. And of course all the critters were out enjoying the nice spring weather.
  12. Awesome fish, that thing is a true brute !! Congrats to the angler
  13. If BPS does indeed have a price-match policy, they should make sure that all of their employees are aware of it. I was in the market for a new bow mount last year after I fried my old one and was shopping around to compare prices and found the one I wanted was $30 less at LeB's. I didn't want to deal with LeB's because of past problems so I called BPS to see if they'd match the price and was told no, BPS did NOT offer that. I told him I was under the impression that BPS would match anyone and he told me I was 100% wrong in my thinking and if I wanted to save $30, I should go and deal with LeB's......nice eh ?? $30 isn't alot of money, but it's better in my pocket than someone elses
  14. I spent the weekend over at Yonge's Pt Cliff, and the water has dropped about a foot in the last few days in that area. Hopefully with no rain coming they can start to get your area drained down soon too. Hopefuly those dead carp your talkin about are just from a normal winter die-off, we sure don't need a repeat of last year.
  15. Pickeral in May, then muskies till mid-December.
  16. Happy B-Day Bill, all the best !!
  17. That's good to hear Roger, & Jackie is definetely an asset to BPS. Even back in the day when he had his own shop on Eglinton I'd stop in for a chat with him, even if I didn't need anything.....great guy !!
  18. I'm just leaving the house now & will be in the Otonabee / Young's Point area later on today and will be taking some pics and will post them tomorrow sometime.
  19. Joe, I've got a 17 tattoos, including an 8" shark I had done in Portsmouth, England back in '64 in my Navy days and folks have always been quite happy when I showed up at their front door to offer my assistance. Course, I wasn't upper management either
  20. Good luck at the sale this morning Pete, you can get some real bargoons at those things
  21. Alot of the problems in Peterboro are caused by the lack of storm sewers in the city. They get some very heavy rains and the sanitary sewers can't handle it all, so it ends up coming back up the basement floor drain. My buddy has been flooded out twice in the last decade and it had nothing to do with the Otonabee overflowing her banks. Sure does make for an awful mess but fortunately the insurance was good for all the damage both times.
  22. Hurricane Hazel went thru Toronto in 1954 and killed 88 people, mostly drowned when the Humber River overflowed her banks and washed the homes away. They rebuilt the homes, the people came back and life has been good for the last 54 years and Etobicoke is now one of the most beautiful neighborhoods anywhere . Bad stuff happens in all parts of the world sometimes, but folks do the best they can. Hurricanes every year from Florida to Louisisana, earthquakes & fires in California, Tornado Alley all the way from the Gulf of Mexico into Southern Ontario, brain numbing cold across the Prairies, but folks live and thrive in all those places. If folks only lived in places where nuthin bad ever happened, there'd be an awful lot of vacant land in North America and about 350,000,000 people all jammed into a couple tiny "safe areas"
  23. He sure did give us lots to laff at though, eh Chris ?? Dood was a pretty good fisherman too
  24. Your quite the guy Pete, with all the problems your having with flooding around your new home, you still take the time to go to Belleville and help out the folks there !!!! I'm heading north to Peterboro this weekend and won't be back till Sunday, but if things get worse at your place after Sunday and you need ANY help at all, I can be out there in a couple hours.
  25. I've been waiting to hear how you guys made out Joey and it's good to hear the trip went well again this year despite the sunstroke. Some nice fish in the boat as usual for the pair of youz !! Hope your feelin better soon.
