  1. Maybe the toll booths are made outta plastic ??
  2. To be perfectly honest, I think some of you guys take fishing waaaaay too seriously, specially when it comes to the size of fish. If your fishing a tourney for $$$$ I can see it, but if a guy is just out enjoying the day on the water and happens to catch his biggest fish out of season, who the heck really cares if he calls it his biggest ?? I've been fishing far longer than most of you guys have even been alive so maybe I've just caught too many fish, but I really think some of you need to lighten up and just enjoy fishing for what it's sposed to be.....FUN. But that's just me.
  3. The weather doods are calling for 2-4" of snow up here tomorrow Cliff so spring may have to wait a few more days yet
  4. I never weigh fish and seldom even measure or take pictures anymore, but if I caught my biggest of whatever species out of season it'd still be my best fish....personal or otherwise. If it's caught out of season it's not legal to keep, but it's still the best. This topic comes up regularily and always seems strange to me.
  5. Interesting how guys will spend $35 for a case of beer and think nothing of it, but moan at a few dollars for fishing tackle
  6. Very nice indeed Mike !! Your gonna love that top on those cold rainy days on the water.
  7. Good to hear somebody listens to me Roy
  8. I used to have a couple C-5s and their a pretty decent reel for the price.
  9. It's always been my thinking that if you pay too a cheap price you may get a cheap product. But that's just me.
  10. Congratulations on the upcoming nuptuals Nick and all the best you & your bride in the years ahead
  11. Waaaay back in 1961 while fishing in front of my grandparents waterfront home on Lake Simcoe I found a wallet floating in the water with all the usual cards & licences plus $37 cash. I called the owner in Toronto and he asked me to mail the wallet back to him and insisted I keep the cash for myself. $37 was a small fortune to a 15 year old kid 50 years ago and went a long ways to improving my summer
  12. Well said Roy.
  13. Sure sounds as if things have become alot more complicated since I took mine at the Sportsman Show the 1st year they became available, maybe 10 years or so back. Never even heard of these modules everyones talking about. Seems to me there were only about 20 questions and if you passed it was $10
  14. Good to hear the show was a success Dax and sorry I had to miss it.
  15. I didn't say they were fun baits to work for 12 hours straight Larry
  16. Yup, just mix it up. As I mentioned above, work it fast and erratic when the waters warm and slow it down when things cool off in the fall. It's got an adjustible metal fin on the back that you'll just have to experiment with to get the right flutter and depth you want. Being a wooden bait each one is a bit different and when they take on water that'll change the action again. Best baits are after they lose some paint and take on even more water and weight. Their fun baits to work and they produce ALOT of nice fish. Just take the time to experiment and learn their individual idiosincrities.
  17. I like to make them less buoyant so when you pause the retrieve the bait will hang where it is rather than popping to the surface. The fish will often hit the Suick as soon as you make the next jerk. Adding additional weights is very simple Cut a groove with a chisel Drop in the weights Cover with 5 minute epoxy and repaint No need to be fussy with the paint cause the muskies don't care what it looks like. Those are small stick-on wheel weights that you can get from any shop that balances wheels.
  18. Suicks are an excellent bait Capt and you can use them pretty anywhere muskies hang out, but their deadly over top of the weeds. Work them real fast with short jerks when the water's warm and when it's cold make them loooong slow pulls with pauses in between. Those big ole slimers can't resist them.
  19. I've been using Power Pro on all my musky rigs for 8 or 9 years now and have never had any issues of any kind whatsoever. It does everything I want it to. My thinking is if it ain't broke don't fix it and I personally see no reason for me to even try anything else.
  20. Enjoy it Mike, I'm just heading out to shovel snow
  21. Why not just take it back to where you bought it originally and have them explain it to you Pete ??
  22. My current boat has a MinnKota charger as that's what came with it from the dealer and sofar it's been good. On another new boat I bought back in '99 I installed a Guest charger and that one has been flawless, even now after 13 years of service and another owner of the boat. If I was to recommend a charger today, or if I was buying another one, it'd definetely be a Guest without question. I've heard negatives about alot of different chargers on the market, but I've never heard a bad word about Guest.
  23. I always have at least 3 rods rigged in the boat. First one has a very large black spinnerbait with orange blades on one rod. Next rod always has a weighted strawberry Sledge Third rod always has a bumblebee colored Double "D" If one of those baits doesn't catch me a musky in the 1st couple hours it means there's no fish in the lake so I go home & have lunch.
  24. Thanks boys, my questions have been answered.
