  1. That's hilarious, but so darned true.
  2. It's been several years since I was in there, but I remember at one time he had a good supply. Always like dealing with John, perhaps I should take a road trip one of these days.
  3. We went into town for dinner last night, as we do every Friday, and all the restaurants were full. Turns out alot of folks around here lost power so everybody went to town to eat. Infact the place we went to sold so many pizzas he ran outta pizza dough. The restaurants all did a great business and the waitresses made more in tips than they would normally. I spose what's bad for some of us, is a windfall for others.
  4. Maybe try Tightlines on Brock Rd. in Pickering. Pretty sure they carry a good supply of salmon type gear. 905-837-0544
  5. Ole Marv put on his best rain suit after lunch today to go out for his daily jaunt. He made it 10' then turned around and came back into the house. I think I heard him mumble something about me being nuts if I expected him to go out in that kinda weather.
  6. Our power has gone off 5 times so far today but only for a few seconds each time. Lots of ice coating everything but it seems like it's finally switching over to just plain rain now.
  7. When I purchased the generator Cliff, I also bought a new gas furnace & on-demand water tank to get away from oil so all the prices are running together in my head right now, so I may be off on the price. Here's the generator tucked nicely under the back deck this is the transfer switch And the 1500 litre propane tank Before this unit I ran a 6500 watt portable that plugged straight into the house and as you say, their also a great unit and do a nice job, I just wanted to get away from having to be here to keep the gas tank topped up. We lost power 2 years ago for 2 days and the portable cost me $100 in gas, but still better than the alternative.
  8. No safe havens in the modern world Roy LOL
  9. It was around $3300 if I recall correctly, but worth every $$$$. Just about everyone on my road has one.
  10. That's a nice setup Roy and funny thing is, I was putzing around on GOOGLE awile ago looking at Downeast setups and that picture came up along with the post you made about it on OFC back in 2009.
  11. Get yourself a permanent standby generator and you won't have to worry about it again. Mine runs off propane and automatically starts up 15 seconds after the power goes out and stops when it's restored. It pretty well runs my entire house if I wanted it to.
  12. Have to disagree with you on that one Shayne, I get alot of muskies trolling and it hardly cost me anything to rig my boat up the way I wanted it. Little bit of ingenuity and some elbow grease and your all set. The custom track set-ups are nice, but definitely not required.
  13. Lotsa time with a fine tooth file Roger
  14. Those particular clamps are made specifically for the rails Roger although I don't recall the model...maybe S-10 ?? Here's another holder I fashioned out of a solid aluminum tow bar. I made it so it sits right down inside the rear seat post hole and allows you to put the bait anywhere around the transom.
  15. And it works really good too, I'm very happy with it. I can put the bait anywhere I want around the prop or even directly behind it.
  16. If you've got rails, that makes a great mounting spot Roger Or you can even make your own like this one I use to run baits right in the propwash
  17. I hear ya Steve, I went into town this morning and when I passed the gas station he was $1.17 so I figured I gas up on the way back. Thirty minutes later, he was $1.27
  18. All of Katchawanooka has been wide open for weeks and when I drove past there a couple hours ago a boat was running across it. Sure was nice to hear the sound of an outboard finally !!
  19. I'd make it a Compre and get a Med Heavy, that'll be perfect for spinnerbaits.
  20. Don't think I'd be dangling my hands or feet in the water.
  21. Windshield wipers on full windshield boats.
  22. Clear skies over here right now but it doesn't sound like that'll last long. My 1500 litre propane tank is 1/2 full so the stand-by generator will have plenty of juice when all the forecasted freezing rain brings down the power lines. Gonna be snug as the proverbial bug
  23. I spent the last 2 days removing all the railings from my back deck, and have new ones being delivered tomorrow. This coming weekends weather was looking great and I'm all set to do the install . Now their calling for rain, snow, ice and everything else that makes outdoor work miserable and it's not looking much better for the next 2 weeks. Sure hope I don't sleep walk off the end of the deck in the meantime
  24. Poor little Ralphie looks terrified Joey
