Thanks for the tale Rich and good to hear you guys had a nice trip and put a few fish in the boat. I was really hoping this would be your year for the 50 as your working hard towards it, but the fish'n gods don't always co-operate. As for the auto bailer on your boat...definetely.

Same with muskies Bernie, we've often done extremely well just before a storm hits and is one of my favorite times to fish. When the sky is black and the thunder is booming, the fish really turn on.

a question for woodstove/ fireplace owners, NF
lew replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
As long as everyone burns their fire hot, makes sure the chimney is in good shape and clean, you'll all be good to go. -
Your wife is having a tough time Bruce and I honestly wish I knew what to say other than to offer her all my best.

My daughter uses a 300E for muskies and is very happy with it, specially with the low profile making it easier for her to hold.

Why is buying quality gear overkill Paul ?? Much better than buying cheap stuff and replacing it every 2 years.

I use both Calcutta CT's & TE's and in my opinion, the TE is FAR superior to the CT. For cranking big bladed baits or or working large jerkbaits, I like the Abu 7000's and for trolling the Tekota 600LC is my reel of choice. Everybody has their own opinions on reels and that's the way it should be.

What about just using a lighter and melting both sides of the tear and sticking them back together, that way no glue is used. I've done that with big Bulldawgs and it works.

Terrible news. Back around 1965 while in the Navy, I was heading home on leave, and was travelling by train thru rural Quebec and we hit a car and killed a young boy who was standing beside it. After we cleared that accident we travelled on to Montreal where we had to change trains to travel to Toronto. A train ahead of us had hit a school bus and killed a bunch of kids and closed the tracks so we ended up hitch-hiking to Toronto A pretty brutal trip for all involved that night.

Your right Art, most of us would do whatever we could to defend our families. Things is though, there's a HUGE difference between Canadians and Americans in the way we think about guns....at least handguns. For you fellas it's a very large part of your lives and something you all feel very strongly about, whereas Canadians don't think of handguns the same way. In all my years I've never owned a handgun or ever even thought of wanting one, infact I've never known anybody who has one either. I read a few of the American websites and am actually amazed at the number of guys that carry guns. One boating website has threads where they talk about what guns they carry when they go fishing and where do they mount the holsters. If I EVER felt I needed to take a gun fishing for protection I'd definetely take up another sport. Another site is about pick-up trucks and there they talk about where everyone mounts their guns inside the cab of the truck. They've got them in the center consoles, under the seat, or even mounted to the steering column, where they say it's easiest to reach in a hurry when you need it. My gawd, I'd be afraid to travel in places where I need fast access to my gun. That's the way Americans live...at least some of them...and if that's the way you guys want it, so be it, but it sure isn't the way most Canadians think...at least none that I've ever known. I lived in Toronto for 62 years and never once was I ever threatened by anyone, let alone threatened with a gun. Toronto has a population of roughly 2 1/2 million people, yet there's only around 60 murders a year and most of those are gang and drug related. Take any American city with 2 1/2 million people and the murder rate is probably at least 100 times more. You folks have your guns and your "right to bear arms" thing, but you also have mass shootings on a regular basis, and it doesn't seem to matter whether it's military bases, schools, movie theaters, shopping centers or anything else. Guys grab guns, whether they be pistols, shotguns, automatics or whatever and walk into a crowd and just start killing as many people as they can. I was watching the Today Show this morning and they even talked about classes people can take to learn what to do when your caught in the cross fire of a mass murderer with guns. Canada on the other hand doesn't have everyone wanting to carry a gun everywhere , and we also don't have all the mass murders, infact it's very rare to hear about them up here and I don't even know the last time an indiscriminate mass murder happened in this country. I don't have the answers and probably nobody else does either, but it just seems odd that the country with so many guys talking about their right to bear arms has all the devastation, while we don't think about guns the same way and we don't have the trouble. I just hope someone can figure out a way for you guys to stop the insane murder of so many innocent people on such a regular basis.

a question for woodstove/ fireplace owners, NF

We've got an airtight downstairs in the family room and I only ever burn well seasoned hardwood in it. It gives off great heat and the furnace only runs a fraction of the time. I stoke it up before going to bed and in the morning it's still glowing hot and fires right up again as soon as I throw in a few more logs. I also have the chimney cleaned every year. -
Would have been good to see you again Bruce, it's been awhile. Surprised to hear the Green Acre tourney is still on as I thought they did away with it quite a few years back. My bud and I fished it 7 or 8 years ago and had a great day. Funny thing was though, we never got a decent fish all day in the tourney, but after it was over and we were running back to the boat ramp at the north end of the lake, we decided to stop in a bay and fish awhile longer and I boated 3 nice ones in less than an hour. I think the musky gods were messing around with me that day

I just put the TV on a few minutes ago and their reporting yet another mass murder in the States. It's evidently in some sort of naval installation in D.C. and they say there's 12 people confirmed dead plus a bunch of others injured. Unbelievable how this sort of thing keeps happening down there.

Yeah, a fight like that with a big bait in her mouth could sure do some damage to her teeth I'd imagine. -

More great pictures Matt, looks like that big ole girl has lost a few teeth over the years. -
You guys got some nice fish there and your right about the colours on the bass, unbelievably dark. I live just 3 miles down the road from where you stayed and even though that lodge is still for sale, the restaurant is open and the food is fantastic. If you stay in the cabins again you should head over for supper. We go there quite often, infact we were there last night, and have never been disappointed yet.
