  1. I just renewed my license plate sticker and it looks like that went up too. Little bits here and there, but it all adds up after awhile.
  2. My hairs so old Joey, it's hard to remember WHAT it was
  3. Here's another one you may like Joey, they say all you ladies love a man in uniform. I'm the tall good looking dood on your left, the other feller is my little brother Ed. Maybe 1950
  4. Howzbout 1st skooters Joey, this is me around 1949. Looks like I was riding through the mud
  5. Sorry, I thought it was obvious what I was talking about.
  6. Almost need some of them funny cigarettes to put up with our governments Norm LOL
  7. Wonder how many folks just assume the lug nuts on a trailer are the same size as the tow vehicle. Bit of a shock when you think your prepared.
  8. Couple posts lately about tires got me thinking about something. I was driving down hwy 28 a couple weeks back when the dashboard lit up telling me I had a soft tire. I pulled over for a look and sure enough the back right was low with a 2" wood screw in the tread. I went down the road 1/2 a mile to a donut shop at 28 & 7 and parked around back and changed the tire. My current vehicle is an F-150 with 20" wheels so their heavy and awkward but not really that big of a deal to change. I change them twice a year for the winter tires anyway so I'm used to doing it and have for as many years as I can remember. I carry an old sweater and gloves to keep somewhat clean while on the road plus a tarp to kneel on. I lubricate the mechanism holding the tire under the truck twice a year to make sure it always works properly plus check the spare tire pressure. I also keep the jack lubricated, plus carry a power bar if a lug is too tight and even some short pieces of 2 x 4 to put under the jack if the ground is soft. I do most of my driving on country roads and don't want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere because of something as simple as a flat tire. This was my 1st flat in 15 years but it was good to know I was prepared. I mentioned to a friend that I'd changed the tire and he was amazed. Said he's never done it and wouldn't even know how, and doesn't even know where his spare tire or jack is. If he gets a flat, he calls a tow truck to change it for him. Twice now in the last couple weeks I've seen guys parked on the side of the road with flats and just sitting in their cars as if they were waiting for help. Just curious, can you change a tire on your vehicle on the side of the road, or do you need to call for help ??
  9. Sorry boys, but you fellas are waaaay over thinking this. With a bit of practice, backing up a trailer is darned near as easy as going forward and nowhere near as difficult as some of you are making it out to be. Go to an empty parking lot early on a Sunday morning and spend a bit of time practicing a few different turns in reverse and you'll be a master in no time.
  10. I finally became a senior and got to fish for free, now they want to start charging me to fish again and if that isn't enough, they want even more $$$$. Oh well, I spose they'll just raise my pension to offset the difference.
  11. (ri)verdale 3331 That was our phone # in Toronto in the late 40's--early 50's But I can't remember what we had for supper last night
  12. I'm proud to say most of the men in my family stepped up when the wars started and fought to keep the rest of us safe & free. Dad spent 5 years in the Navy and his brother did his 5 years in the Army and both saw too many things they wished they hadn't. Mom's brother flew bombers over Europe and was killed along with his whole crew when their plane went down. Dad's dad, my Grandfather, fought in the trenches of France & Belgium with the British Army in WW1 and told stories of unimaginable horrors those men went through. Dad home on leave during the war My grandfather in much happier times Mom's brother Leonard in an old bi-plane he flew before the war and a couple years before he was killed..
  13. That really stinks Dan, you try to be a good guy and help others and these punks couldn't care less. Until our poor excuse for a justice system starts punishing these pieces of garbage there's not much deterrent for them.
  14. I've got 5 Samsungs, all nearly 5 years old, and not a single issue with any of them and the pictures are as good today as when I bought them. Next set I buy will be another Samsung.
  15. I use BFG Winter Slaloms on my F150 and their an excellent tire. Going into my 5th winter with them and the tread is still in great shape. Excellent traction and nice & quiet on the road.
  16. I don't cast cold water muskies anymore but when I did, large Suicks were the bait I'd always start off with. I always added extra weight to increase hang time and they were very effective.
  17. That's odd Cliff, I've been using nothing but PP for about 12 years now, have landed lots of big toothy fish with it and have NEVER had an issue of any kind. Be interesting to find out why you have the problems you do.
  18. Thanks once again everyone and this will be my final update but I just wanted to let everyone know that Diane is now home from the hospital and feeling pretty darned good. I find it absolutely amazing that a person can have a major surgery on Tuesday and be home on Friday afternoon and it says a whole bunch about the wonderful health care system we have in the country. Lakeridge Health in Oshawa is a fantastic hospital and everyone from the surgeon to the cleaning staff and everyone in between was great and they all treated Diane like she was the most important person in the building. She was in Critical Care the whole time and the nursing staff that work there are absolutely top notch and I can't praise them enough. And finally, thanks to all on this board that have supported us thru this lousy time.
  19. That's exactly what Diane and I did this week Cliff and it all turned out well and it will for you & yours too.
  20. As mentioned in another thread I've been staying in an Oshawa hotel while my wife undergoes surgery and I'm checking out today so they slipped my bill under the door thru the night. Looking at the itemized bill I see 3 charges for $2.83, one for each night I've been here, for a total of $8.49 for something called Direct Marketing Fee. I don't stay in hotels too often and have never seen it before so I went to the front desk to inquire and was told it's a fee some hotel chains charge and they use the $$$$ to promote tourism. I told the front desk clerk I agreed on a price when I booked the room a few weeks ago and this wasn't included and I had no intention of paying it so it was removed from my bill. I'm far from cheap and certainly not a trouble maker but it sure pi$$es me off when companies try and slip something thru to get money that I haven't agreed on. It's only $8.49 per room but it must be a huge amount of money collected if everyone lets it go. Anyhoo, that's my little mini rant for a Thursday morning and my apologies for wasting your time.
  21. Best of luck with your families health issues Cliff.
  22. Morning everyone and thanks for all the good wishes for my wife. It sure was nice waking up this morning knowing this lousy stuff is behind us now and hopefully forever. One of the 1st things Diane said in the recovery room yesterday was how happy she was to be rid of the cancer and I could really see it in her smile. It's a horrible disease that has taken too many of mine and your friends and family over the years and hopefully they'll come up with a full cure someday.
  23. Hi guys I hadn't planned on bumping this post to the top again but we've received so many emails, phone calls and PM's since I told about my wife's cancer that I just can't reply to everyone individually. The surgery was performed at Lakeridge Hospital in Oshawa this morning and the surgeon says it was a complete and total success. Part of her left lung was removed in a 3 hour operation along with the cancerous tumor and she is now completely cancer free. Diane is in the Critical Care Unit for a couple days then will move to a regular room for a couple days more then she heads home. The doctor says after a bit of recuperation she'll be nearly as good as ever and will lose a bit of lung function but not enough to even really notice. She walks 3 miles almost every day and the doc says that'll continue with no problems. He said she wouldn't be able to climb a mountain but Diane said that's not a big deal because she couldn't climb a mountain before the surgery LOL It's been a very tough couple months for my family and friends but as I type this I feel like a hundred pounds has been lifted from my shoulders. I'm staying in an Oshawa hotel close to the hospital but it'll sure be nice to get home in a few days and Diane starting to enjoy life again. Thank you VERY much to all that have emailed, phoned, PMed and in general just really helped my wonderful wife get through a tough couple months. Your really a great group.
  24. I have a cousin about 70 years old who was born in Canada, has been on welfare her entire life and has never worked a single day since the day she was born. She was never married yet had 6 kids by 6 different men. She told me I was a sucker & a complete idiot for working hard. I'll take just about any immigrant over this lazy piece of garbage.
  25. I've got a 150 Yammie 4 stroke and it costs me about $85 for fluids and parts and an hour of my time. Very simple to do and leaves a bunch of $$$$ in my pocket.
