  1. His Facebook page has some happy folks with lots of fish as of yesterday. I'm going for it! I've got the kids interested, more borrowed gear than Ill likely know what to do with, Grilled cheese fixins and oodles of snacks and a kite... What could possibly go wrong????
  2. So I've booked already with Tim Hale's, will one be heat much better than the other I wonder....
  3. I hope that's the case! as long as its safe everywhere. I also hope it wont be that busy as its a Friday. Because if they aren't biting, nobody will be happy.
  4. Great idea, we have a millennium falcon kite that costco sold in stock!! That could be the game changer, Im worried the ice is going to be soaked though...
  5. I've never fished there but have fished quite a bit in Jamaica. I can tell you from my experience that chrome last master chrome spinners are great and I've also caught a ton on the Berkley ripple shads in a purple ish colour. Another little trick I learned to attract bait fish is milk bone dog treats. They dissolve slow and the little guts go nuts on the bits... also amazing while snorkeling and for the little ones... I bring 1 tray now because nothing worked as well as the quick fish chrome guys. They had cheap copies at Dollar am a. I sent my buddy a bunch down in Jamaica. He uses them all the time
  6. Good advice! They love a little competition.... and I'll hide a couple of screens just in case. Plus out of no where my 11 year old daughter says she's excited about going ice fishing. Yay! "Point dad"!!!
  7. Mike has always been a champ that way... it's too bad some nay sayers talking about his new gig upset him here...On my first visit to this site I stumbled on to one of his posts and had to read them all.
  8. So next Friday is a PA day for my kids and my wife will be away. So why not take advantage of that? So I booked a hut with Tim Hale's on Simcoe for some Perch and hopefully a surprise or 2... Any tips on getting the kids into it? I won't say they aren't into it, but I'm afraid I'll like it and they will hate it... Suggestions folks? Besides the usually bribes of sugar and snacks. I hate to bring screens for them but if it gets me through the day....The kids are 11 and 13 years old.
  9. Ok have survival suit, rod that I used to use to play with my cats and a reel. All I need now is everything else including a clue..... advise?
  10. Ogopogo is pretty good. I stayed there years ago before I fished....
  11. Very blessed! Congrats! Good luck
  12. I want to add I pilot to my trolling motor, and that's really all. I spent a bundle last year...has anyone used the add on package?
  13. I get email from them and they had the pants I just bought on sale for black friday. They were on sale for more than I paid at Angling Outfitters. If I wasn't so lazy I'd unsubscribe... Happy NY y'all!!!
  14. Heading up again this coming weekend, wondering if anyone made it out last weekend and how they did? S
  15. Angling Outfitters in Woodstock. Jocelyn has them with gammy hooks, got a 7lb Walleye with him last weekend on St Clair on one. Plus its my favorite store and the guys there are all awesome!
  16. So, I bought a top from Empire tops for my 16' side console. After getting scorched a couple of times and soaked a couple of others, I decided to give it a try on the advice of a buddy, who loves his. (plus the top was 50% off with free shipping) Now my only reservation is putting holes in my gunnels for it. The boat is in mint condition except for a few leaky rivets that are a work in progress.... I was thinking of mounting a gear track instead of screwing it in directly. This way I can also use the track for other things if necessary because I'm not convinced I can stomach drilling screws into it for the top of "uncertainty". Any advice on which track to use? or where to get it! or another trick for mounting this top without the holes?. Was thinking of getting some stainless nuts welded to some stainless bands/strips I have and attaching them to the gunnels with some small holes not on the top that I can stomach better. I mentioned a top once before here, and got massively mixed reviews, so now I still dont know, as I trust the advice of you folks immensely! Thanks in advance folks! Sheldon
  17. I haven't had much time lately for playing but I for one appreciate the reports. It's a way for a guy like me to learn something. Thanks for those feeling unappreciated!
  18. I think I might pick one up to keep the kids busy over the holidays. Thanks Chris and Chris's wife!
  19. Think of how much money you saved...
  20. So, that's exactly where we launch anyway. but we don't really ever fish anywhere near the launch. I think it was a bit too early and the resident fish in the river were stuffed from feeding on the shad. I think the third week of October and the following month are the best there. We went the first time, October 23 weekend last year and got an insane amount of fish, mostly drum and silver bass but they fight good and with a few bass,a muskey and a huge carp in the mix it was the weekend of weekends and we are still trying to duplicate that but it still hasnt happened.... we barely got a dozen fish between the three of us .
  21. Its been a while, but for the kawarthas we used WRD cottage rentals several times and we were happy every time. They know their properties. Also if you have any special requirements, they can help. We always asked and they knew which places had the best mattresses for instance. S
  22. I know... But the reservations are made and deposits have been paid. Like I said if it get ugly and it sounds like it will, Im staying in the river to hide from the wind and the rain is what it is... For all the times the weathermen are wrong, I hope this is one of them!
  23. Bass and Walleye, But If we cant get out on the main lake then it will likely be sheephead and whatever else in the river...
  24. We will be heading out of Luken Marina on the Thames and I was wondering if anyone has been out and kinda knew where the fish are right now ? Im not looking for anyone's best spot but just a bit of guidance..2 weeks ago we found a bunch about 3 miles up from the Jeanettes Creek launch. Thanks Sheldon
