  1. The link shows error Gerrit. I assume it isn't very flattering. What else would the former Liberal PM say? If any positives are in his critique I would be surprised.
  2. Call the authorities. Simply put it is illegal to boat fast enough to cause a wake on any shoreline. That's what I would do, immediately not a week latter. Next time it happens have the OPP or whomever's responsible for the peace and safety in your jurisdictions number in hand. * OPP on your cell phone. What they are doing is unsafe as you say and illegal.
  3. 'm surprised any agent would turn down any listing. I was told recently by a very successful agent when I asked him about ridiculous expectations from clients he said "better to have a sign on the lawn than in the trunk". Cliff ask the agent what he/she is going to do for me? Marketing budget, agent open houses, number of open houses for public, suggestions for staging, small spruce ups you can do as the owner and their track record in the past 12 months? The other thing is if they are the Big Dog locally am I going to have to deal with your protégé? An agent I had stuck some kid who was in the wrong business and he drove me nuts until I told her not to have him call me again. You are in waterfront property, there has to be someone that specializes in waterfront where you are. They usually have big city markets where clients have been looking for waterfront. Waterfront can not be compared to anything else but waterfront, then there's waterfront and there's swamp front. In my experience late winter would be the best time to list water front.
  4. Yes Mr.G. I read it last year on the Bills discussion board. Each player has to pay a tax to Erie County. A user fee to use The Ralph because they are basically independent contractors. I think it's about 10K per player based on their game day pay.
  5. You can't beat the Pho places in downtown Hamilton. My favorite is on Cannon St. West of James just east of Bay. St. If anyone gets to Hamilton check it out. A gallon is about 5 bucks.
  6. Hey Spiel, a Vietnamese, Tai place opened up this summer in Dunnville. It is across the street from Bob's Family restaurant. I know you get out here once and a while, check it out. The best spring rolls this side of the Mei Kong Delta. I haven't tried the Pho yet. Try Winnie's Vietnamese coffee. That dinner has made me hungry. I bought a container of mixed olives and veggies at the Portuguese market on James N. and Roberts St downtown. No one told me it was "E" Blast Furnace hot. It brought me to my knees. It was stupid hot , I mean kneeling on the bathroom floor over the toilet hot. I don't know how people can take it that hot. What is the scale they have to measure pepper hot? No amount of straight Vodka calmed the heat.
  7. List it yourself Cliff and keep the 5% commission. I was told by 4 different agents and Dad's place might sell for 249K. I listed it at 265.9K and we got 275K with 6 weeks in a bad winter a year and a half back, today it would go for 325K for sure in this hot Hamilton market. They want a quick sale to minimize marketing costs and work. A friend used Property Guys and was very happy to save the 5% commission. You can sell it, just do it.
  8. 5 zip, still 1 out, man these guys are hot,
  9. 2 run homer top of the first. Oops 3-0 first, 1 out. Wowa weewa!
  10. The world changed forever since that horrible day in history. My Mom was a kid when Pearl Harbor was attacked and she said it was the exact feeling on 9/11. We must never forget the sacrifices of the fallen that day or any day in fact. These people run into a burning building not from it. Those are real heroes in life, not the ones on screen or on the field. Those going into work that lost their lives will not be forgotten as well. Rest in peace.
  11. Any prediction for tonight Argo, Cats game? I think the Argos take it by 3. I think the wages some pros make is obscene but they make the owners richer so everyone's happy. If a pro takes home 40 cents on the dollar they are doing well. I was surprised to learn that players on the Bills have to pay fees to use the stadium. The list of bankrupt athletes is staggering.
  12. Thanks for sharing huzzaba. Sounds like you have the fish fever.
  13. You won't find many Walleye through the ice on Erie, if you do it is a rare catch. Long Point Bay at St. Williams has hut operators buy it is almost 100% perch with some Pike thrown in. They charge around $30.00 per person, they take you to the hut and bring you back when you wish. Last year was a bust out here, far too cold in the shallows. If it's Walleye you want through the ice you will take a ride to Quinte. Many, many hut operators there and some of the best and biggest Walleye through the ice in the World!
  14. Mike the refing in the CFL sucks. A very close friend is the timekeeper for CFL games. He concurs, every play on offence is offside, every one. A game would take 5 hrs. if they called them. And I always ask Art " Why do you have to set the clock back 5 seconds?" Sleeping?
  15. It's over. Ticha owes me a million Samolians because she picked the Steelers. As for the athletic ability of the NFL vs. the CFL no contest. For entertainment I like either, maybe more of the CFL because of the 53/44 offensive games.
  16. The only gunshots I would hear was when we lived in downtown Hamilton. We moved. I can't believe I lived there for 45 years. I heard gunshots this AM, no idea why maybe the local sheep farmer shoeing away Coy dogs.
  17. We have had good results using strobe lights under the cottage at night. For Coons too. We had a skunk spray our dog 2 days after moving into a brand spanking new home and into the kitchen and onto my wife, then the dog ran into the bedroom and on the bed, Man what a mess. The only thing that took the smell off the dog was Crest toothpaste. after a few hundred bucks of Tomato juice and vet stink remover. We never had that new house smell after that. The bed and bedding was a write off. If not for the 2 day old house the insurance company said it would have been a huge bill. Skunks, I hate em.
  18. 21 to 3 a few seconds later. "Turn off the lights the parties over" (Dandy Don Meredith, Monday night Football) Before most of you guys were born. Him Howard Cosell,Joe Namath and Frank Gifford. I am Old Ironmaker for sure. It ain't over till it's over, but I think it's over.
  19. 5 mil a year. Marcel Darius a D tackle for the Bill signed today for 100 million $$$. Not 5, not 15, 100 million freakin bucks for a D tackle that might get 10 sacks a year, which he did last year to lead the league. 10 mil a sack if he never gets another. That money is obscene to me. COME ON MAN! The opener tonight had more hype than the Super Bowl a few years back. 14/3 New England 11:15 in the 3rd. 100 mil, I can't get my head around that.
  20. We have plenty of hybrids here. Coyote and dog mix. I always thought they were a Wolf, Coy, dog mix but was told there are no true wolves this far south of Algonquin Park. I do know I see some that are huge sunning on the ice on Erie. I am glad to hear the dogs are fine. I know there is a difference between Fluffy the Labradoodle or some lap dog and a dog with a job. We call them bush wolves down here on the US border. Please no PM's about lap dogs, they serve a purpose too I suppose as good companions.
  21. Sorry Rick but my money is on a Wolf vs. a Dog any day. So what happened last night Rick? I hope they are A OK.
  22. There are prima donna receivers in the CFL. Isaac Bruce 2 is the latest that comes to mind. He's now working at a Home Depot near you. I don't know where he is but he's not playing I don't think. Dave Stalla is the best non "throw me the ball because I'm great" wide receiver as of late. I love the guy. I played with a guy starting in H.S. Jack Blair and latter with the Hamilton Hurricanes. He played special teams and second team D for Hamilton. He left practice to put in his shift at the LCBO in Hammertown and built houses when he wasn't busy. ESPN did a show following him in the 80's. That's the CFL in a nut shell.
  23. Eggs are $2.50 a dozen from a local farmer here. Pork is about the same depending on cut. I was in Fortino's yesterday and grabbed 7 packages of 4 a pack Fennel sausages for an average of $1.25 each package. They were marked wrong. I asked the kid putting them out " Is this price right?" Nope, but not before I grabbed them all. Usually 7 bucks for 4. So I bought a bottle of Dr. Smirnoff's on the way home. Freebee. The skinny coils I know of are called Barresi. Usually Lamb but can be Pork.
  24. October to me is the best for fishing. The Bay of Quinte is just warming up for hog Walleye. Bass here on Erie is lunker season. Pick your day for a personal best. No need for muffs and sunscreen. I love the fall. My favorite months.
  25. I hear you Pics. I remember when I was a kid and my Italian Nono from Western NY telling me " Micky Mantle donta paya you papas mortaga for him, youra Papa isa you hero." How perfect was that. I can't relate with 100 million dollar 5 year contracts when I have to go to the grocery store and check the sales. So I can relate to CFL salaries. A guy working in the steel plant makes more than the average CFL wage. Tim Teebo was just cut. He was told go to the CFL and get some reps. I would love to see him here. He is the quintessential CFL QB, and I welcome him. Just like Flutie when he was discarded by the NFL. This is Canada, bring us the outcasts and we will show you how wrong the experts were.
