NFL, CFL, anything Football thread

A torn ACL has nothing to with being heavy or too light. It happens especially knees but does help if you have legs like an Elephant but then they call you an O lineman. But you are right he is too lanky to play the inside Mr. G. I just like his pit-bull mentality. Can you imagine him at safety if he was faster? I hope he makes it back to Philly just in time to miss the playoffs. -

My guy Kiko Alonzo of the Eagles is out with a partial ACL tear as well. Not good for the kid. It looks like Buffalo was right and so far got the better deal, they questioned his durability. The talking heads are saying a guy like him that goes full out every play has a tendency to get injured, I get that. -
Well I don't know why, it usually comes down to money and or timing. Maybe someone up there bent over backwards to accommodate the shoot when someone else wouldn't.

Kind of unorthodox but also kinda cool

What to do with surplus plastic holding tank tops? Make a skiff. Can I get one with a railing? -
2 Top Bass tourney competitors caught red-handed

Thanks for the information Smoke Stack. I know of many tournaments that have 100% payout to attract the money guys. Besides a small economic boost to the Marina and local area not much if anything is put back into the resource. That Musky guy from the Detroit River that was caught on video killing Musky then latter went on TV shedding Crocodile tears sure wishes he had simply paid a fine and no one is the wiser. Humiliation through social media is the 21st Century's public flogging in the town square for all to witness. -
It's funny you show that Lew. I stopped to see a fishing partner before he moved to Paisley the other day. He made basically the same thing but it doesn't attach to the trailer. It has 2x12 inch tires on with ball at one end and bicycle handle at the other.it and we moved his welding machine easily. I never noticed anything like this an now 2 in a few days.

Great question Steve. I'm interested too besides guiding, rec fishing and tourneys. I think it's great to have tourneys, especially kids derby's. Derby's are great for kids introducing them to fishing. As well everyday Joe's like myself might get lucky and take a few grand from the pro's in my lumber jacket sans logos in a weekend local tourney. Some young gun local guys took top prize at a Pro Walleye 444 tournament on Erie this summer. Those with boats worth 100K or more all decked out like a Nascar driver and car shed so many tears that the lake went up an inch. Oh guess what? A few thought they must have cheated to take top prize. -
How about lake Niapenco, Binbrook conservation area on the outskirts of Hamilton. Blue Gill, Crappie, Bass, Pike and Perch. It's close to home and once out there you would think you are up north but 10 minutes to civilization, well Hamilton anyway.

It's my 10% theory. 10% of a work force does 30% of all the work. 10% are on sick leave, 10% are on WSIB, 10% are alcoholics, 10% are unemployed, 10% need social assistance because they will never work, 10% are drug dependant 10% have a mental issue, 10% gamble, and 10% are criminals, liars and cheats. That sector of our society has always been there so nothing is new. People cheat, even 10% of sportsmen but we must take steps to lower that number with deterrents. -
What does Grouse taste like? I've had 1 good Duck the rest not good, Goose was as dry as a 2X4 and greasy. Quail I find really nice but I need 6 to make a sangwich.

These people can make 14" Perch sound like a school of Piranha. That Musky skeletal head was very big. Approximating the fish to be 6' Lew big. Lets see what he catches with that light spinning outfit? Well I hung around to find out. A nice Esox on 6 pound test and a small jig tipped with a dead minnow. It can happen and it just did, lucky or what? All in all I enjoyed it regarldess of the cliff hangers before going to commercial. You will be happy to know Rick that the FN band was featured well in the production. Wade actually offered tobacco before heading out. Huzzaba, guess what? Jeremy Wade snorkelled around an Island to look for fish. He fishes primarily from shore all across the globe.

I'll call you tomorrow Rick, that way we can argue in real time!!

Not good news out of Tiger Town today. Zack Collerus is going to be lost for the rest of this CFL season with a torn ACL. I am sad for Collarus, he's good young QB and exciting to watch. At least he will have a chance to rehab this. It was a retirement slip not too many years back for an athlete if they tore that ligament. It holds the leg together at the knee and keeps the lower leg from moving forwards and backwards. Basically a dislocated or separated knee. In this QB driven sport it comes down to what QB's are still playing well in November. The Cats won't make the playoffs I predict unless they trade for a bona fide thrower. Look for Kevin Glenn coming back to Hamilton in order to save this season. But who do they give up? 2 starters including a Canadian. Plus???? #16? Or they go south and find a QB. Tim Teebo was told when getting cut go to the CFL and get some reps in. Teebo time? I don't know if they can afford him, he won't play for 100K CDN. Then there's the tight CFL salary cap to consider so going south is unlikely. -
It's amazing what details go into a TV production, so I have been told by my sis-in-law. They do not have limitless funding. It could be as simple as not being able to get a quality guide at that particular week. I have seen many shows where the local FN folks were very involved. The shows coming on.

A German war criminal and the US gov. give him a full US military funeral? Who was funded by the US? The Nazis during the war? Rick, Rick, Rick. Easy on the flu meds Rick. This thread is really off the rails now. What was it about OP?
-
Rick it all comes down to production costs. From traveling schedule to a camera boat, all to do with budget.

On again at 12:00 AM eastern time on Discovery Channel.

Maybe a bit too much flu medicines Rick?

I would fan cast the area 3 times with same presentation then move. Once I covered that water without results I would change up the presentation. If I stopped at the local tackle shop at spots I had never been to I asked, begged and groveled to find out what was the hot lure. Look at the shelves the lures and colours that are getting thin or MT were the ones the locals were buying. As far as your original question about these dock mounted sonar all I can say is I have never seen one used since they were introduced. That tells me that they may not work well. Do you and yours like snorkelling? It is a sure fire way to find fish and I am being 100% serious. Before I started fishing 30 some odd years back my father in law would have me swim the areas around the cottage and let him know what I found, drop offs, weed beds and all structure cast able plus fish population.
-
Beore I go to the polling booth to mark my ballot I ask these questions. Am I better or worse off than before the last election? Is it about the same? Has there been any change for the better or worse? Has the previous party or elected leader made any big mistakes that effect my family today? Then I always think about " better the Devil you know than the Devil you don't". I called on my member for Parliament to help in an issue I was having with my CPP. Her office came through for me, quickly. That carries weight for me.

The critters really don't bother me much unless I have to clean up after them. I just like saving water from not flushing.
-
Good going Bruce. You never know what the next fish will be on that river.
-
It's funny Huzzaba when we fished from shore we would see a nice boat go by and say "Man I wished I had one" Now we see some guys wading working the shoreline and hauling in Bass etc and say "I wish we could get in that close around that structure."
-
Rick I only started this longlining for meat a few years back. Before then it was all near north lakes and the Ottawa for all you mention. It was all structure related. Before that it was 95% shore fishing and renting tinnies with a 9.9 if we were lucky. The first boat was a Sears car toper, no trailer. I could put it in the pickup then solo, no anabolics too. I started shorefishing a week a year unless Dad had a boat, no one had a boat when I was a kid that I knew. that plus there was nowhere to fish in Hamilton in the 60's and 70's, so we played ball. Heck I didn't know anyone that had been north of TO. I had flown in planes before I even stepped into a boat to fish. That is a reason I encourage Huzzaba to just keep doing what he's doing and to get a cheap tinny or Kayak.
-
Huzzaba, spending countless hours exercising and practicing casting is called experience. Knowing that if there are fish where you are is also called experience. It all comes with time my friend. Yes there are dead zones where there won't be any fish,,,,,sometimes. You will learn to read water. The old saying goes " The more you practice the luckier you get." Wisdom is a life time of mistakes. When I got the fishing affliction I read, I went to every seminar at local clubs I could, spent countless hours at sportsmen shows, watched shows before they were infomercials, set my VCR to tape the shows I would miss. And above all I went fishing and learned from friends who I drove insane I'm sure. My skills improved immensely when I put my butt in a boat. You don't need to spend 20K to have your own boat. Buy an inexpensive Kayak. I would straddle a log 32 years ago to get to the fish. A dockside fish finder isn't going to do it for you. If you don't think great fishermen never get skunked you are mistaken. Go fishing.
