  1. Do any of the places offer overnight ice shacks. I know Moskwa from loon lodge does, but who else? John Hardings website I was sort of unclear of, says you get an ice bungalow, and a separate shack for fishing, are they both on the ice?
  2. Seems like a money grab. There are several things on that list I would not pay a technican to do. A lot of it simple user friendly procedures that can be done by even the least experienced owner. While they may not budge on the price at this point, you now know where not to go next season. And while they may have got you this time. they likely lost a lot of future business because of their methods.
  3. I need to pick my boat up from Bridgenorth Marina. I dropped it off Thursday aft. Its a 16' with a 20 4 stroke. Winterizing the motor, and shrink wrap was 250.
  4. Ok here's a picture of the loop end. Should it be sticking out like that? Again, my trailer has EE style springs, and I have never seen this style before.
  5. Its a 14' aluminum with a 15 evinrude on the back. While the tires are small I believe from what I have seen that it should be ok to haul the boat. It has bushings and bolts at both ends, but it looks as though when the spring flattened off the loop end is no longer on the bushing but pushed out towards the rear of the trailer. Should the loop end fit tightly around the bolt/bushing or should there be a space. Ill try to get him to send me a couple cell phone pics.
  6. Ok so my buddy bougth a new(to him) boat. I was out at his place today to have a look at it. It appears to be equipped with EL(Loop) style leaf springs. The springs themselves seem to be flattened and the loop is outside the mounting bracket. Meaning the loop itself isnt sitting on the bushing. The trailer is also riding really low. He had to keep the motor tipped up to drive it home as it was too close to the ground. After looking at it I noticed these issues. As well as, it seems the spring could be relocated to a lower hole on the mount creating a higher ride height. So heres my question. Can the EL(Loop) style spring be replaced with an EE(eye) type spring on both ends? I should have taken a picture of it while I was there. Any comments and suggestions are welcome. Neither of us have done any trailer work before, so any insight will be greatly appreciated. Ben.
  7. 12 degrees on the surface. Yes Rice does turnover and I believe that has already happened. A friend of the girlfriends, said he was out on Rice earlier this past week and boated 15 one evening. I also heard they were on fire up at Stoney Lake. Havent been to Stoney myself though.
  8. Was out on Rice yesterday. Spoke to an older gent from Toronto, at the launch. He said it was slow for him yesterday and they only landed 2 pickeral. We spent the afternoon in the chop, and only boated 1. Dress warm.
  9. The first year I bought my boat....2010, I caught a Pike on the Otonabee River. Being that I was new to fishing the area, and really hadnt done a lot of fishing in a long time (I know this was stupid looking back) but we released it back into the river not knowing. The next day at work I was telling some guys that worked in another trade about my fishing escapades, and I dont need to tell you they were less than happy about my story. Needless to say, that wont happen again.
  10. I recently just bought a Kirkland deep cycle battery. My question is, can I use the deep cycle for cranking as well. I have a 2010 20hp merc. I still have the cranking battery, but im wondering due to weight and space, should I bother to install both batteries? One simply for cranking the motor, and the deep cycle for electronics? Being that its a 20 and likely doesnt have a real big draw for firing, would it be bad thing to simply switch to the deep cycle for cranking and electronics?

  12. Indeed they are at Peterborough Costco. Picked one up this aft.
  13. Hey thanks for the response. Ill stop in today and see if they have any stock.
  14. Can anyone confirm if these deep cycles are available at Peterborough Costco? Tried looking online, only found charge units, no deep cycles.
  15. The 2 years I lived in Barrie, we took the kids both years. We always had a great time. Tackle boxes and rods werent part of it then, but free lunch and a prize bag with some fishing gear in it sure did make the young lad smile. Cool that you got to meet Dave though, I really like his show.
  16. Other than being a long box and a 4.9L I6, thats whats in my sig. I do prefer the long box though. I cant stand the small box trucks these days. Cant get much in em anymore if you're using em for any sort of work purpose. I love being able to put 8' sheets in and close the gate. Not to mention I can fit soooo much more scaffold and other things in it, in comparison. You also have my vote for bringing back the standard.
  17. Only answer from me would be F150. To drive it back you would need proof of insurance as well as a safety slip to get a 10 day permit. Not to mention plates. If you are coming to southern ontario to buy, I would suggest buying a certified vehicle. Dealers can set you up with everything you would need to drive it out the door.
  18. Yep the half worm tipped works well on Rice too. We were pulling them out of the weeds with the chartreuse color tipped with a worm.
  19. Hi Raf, the tow cap on the Escape is 3500lbs.
  20. Seems as though most users here really like the Flex. Lots of good things to say about it at least. When I'm not driving my truck, I drive a Ford Escape. Its the V6 with 4x4 and tow package. Great vehicle and usually can be had for a little less than a Flex. Used it to take my boat out to Manitoulin Island last year and was quite impressed. We decided to take it this year to Temagami with 3 guys the boat and all the camping gear. Just thought I would throw it out there as nobody had suggested any other vehicles.
  21. My buddy owns a Charger with the battery in the back. They were in Vegas and the day before they arrived at their hotel this happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8xY_rzW9nw Apparently after a high speed chase involving some gun shots the car ran into the back of a taxi cab(charger) which is the ball of flames you see on the video. Needless to say they want to sell their Charger.
  22. I dropped my Maui's on the floor in a shoppers drugmart when a worker came through a door in front me then turned around and came at me. Needless to say I shattered a lens when they hit the floor. They need to go back to Maui for replacement lenses. Definitely the best glasses I have worn.
  23. I have a Smokercraft which has the identical layout to that boat. Great craft. Not much more can be said about the design that hasnt already been said.
