  1. Thanks Roy, didnt notice that at first glance. So only nippissing opens third weekend in June.
  2. Does this apply to all of zone 11? I checked the updated PDF which shows the slot size for nippissing, but still says bass opens 4th saturday in June.
  3. I heard a lot of it broke up today. Many from bear Island are putting boats in today as well. Looks like I'll be good to go come friday for the drive down to cross.
  4. I heard they were breaking ice up there yesterday with boats. Dont think you'll have much to worry about come the 20th. I'm still hoping the 16th is a go.
  5. I use Bewdley or Hiawatha. Coming from Brampton I suggest Bewdley.
  6. Indeed. From what I have seen documented over at Ottertooth, this year might make the record for the latest ice out since 1986. Of course thats other than the 2 years they dont have documented.
  7. Man its gonna be a close one this year. Hope the weather this week and next can take care of that ice.
  8. Yep, heard that loud and clear. Was wondering what it was until about half hour ago when we noticed the news reports. Edit: Im in the west end of Peterborough.
  9. Canadian Tire has posts, not sure if they carry the bike seat though. I think it was about 85 dollars for the bigger post. Cheaper for the smaller ones depending on size.
  10. Hey thanks for the updates. Still got my fingers crossed it will be out by the long weekend.
  11. Is that Temagami? Looks like it wont be too long now judging from your pic.
  12. I hope not, that would put the kaibosh on the long weekend. That still seems like a lot of ice though. Gonna be touch and go from here on out I guess. Hopefully the rain this week will speed things up a bit.
  13. My aunt lives on Bear Island, we spoke with her today, she said much of the same, still lots of ice but will be gone by the long weekend. My fingers are crossed to say the least.
  14. Wish I had one of those ice breakers... Looks like we might need it for Temagami May long weekend.
  15. Temagami in May, then again in July with the children. Hopefully make at least 1 to 2 more trips to Temagami over the summer months. I live for Temagami!!!
  16. This is the back of my truck. Since having it painted a couple years ago, I have not installed a rear bumper. I typically dont leave the receiver in the hitch, but do on my Escape. Because it sticks out so far with no bumper it is a hazard for me and the children when the truck is in the driveway. Have never had a problem with the hitch or the bumper(or lack of).
  17. Hi guys and gals, Just wanted to thank everyone for their input. I contacted Shakespeare once again and as it turns out I did not have to return ship the broken rod. Here is the rod in question. After making contact with Shakespeare, they informed me all I need to do is send them the service fee's and they would replace the rod. They said it would arrive in 3 to 4 weeks. Well it only took about 4 days for the new rod to arrive. Here is the replacement rod they sent me. Looks like they redisgned the problem area on this model. I have to say that Shakespeare has great customer service, and im quite happy with this replacement. Cant wait to try it out. Thanks again to everyone for the advice/information. Ben.
  18. Thanks BillM. I have never seen any shipping tubes at my local post office but will definitely ask about them next time im in there.
  19. Hey guys, Just wanted to ask about and get any tips if possible on how to ship my Ugly Stik. I have an 8' rod that needs to go back to shakespear. The screw down portion(plastic) that holds the reel on has cracked. It is still under warranty, and I was just wondering if any members here have any suggestions for packing to send it back. I have never shipped a fishing rod before and after reading shakespears website, I want to make sure it arrives with no further damage as they will not cover shipping damage. Thanks in advance for any help. Ben.
  20. I Would just like to post a thanks to the members here for suggesting these rental spots. My brother and I used this link a few weeks back to get out into a hut. Peter was a great guy, and we did well on the perch that day. Thanks again guys.
  21. Dont forget to buy some bobber stops.
  22. +1 Last time I was out they were hitting eerie deeries tipped with a piece of worm.
  23. I used to be hardcore Oakley until I bought my Maui Jim's. Cant say anything about the Costa's though, never tried them. As someone else mentioned... I wont be switching from the Maui's any time soon.
  24. About 10 to 12 years ago there was a large hatch in North Bay. I remember walking out of the bar at about 2 am. Streets and buildings were covered in them, they were shoveling them off the streets that year. Lamp posts early that morning had massive clouds around them, I glanse over and there is a gentleman passed out on the street completely blanketed with them. Worst prior to that would have been around the mid to late 80's.
  25. I have the Navi mobile app on my phone. Even after trying to download the area, Opeongo still isnt listed. Along with the surrounding waters. Ive also noticed one lake in particular that is connected to another lake, the map stops right in between the two.
