  2. Way to go bud. The best we can do is look after each other out there. Good on you. Glad to hear everything worked out for the best
  3. Sounds like someone crapped in his cornflakes..

    OH NO!!!

At least you'll be able to see her coming at you!
  5. Hey Dave, I have a neat video of some guy shooting the 50 and the round coming back at him and taking off his hearing protection. Not sure if you have seen it but PM me your e-mail and I'll send t along if you want. And I agree, I've always been around firearms as a kid and was taught respect for them in the day when they wren't safely stored, and I'll do the same for my little guy when he gets a little older.
  6. Like BP says, follow the fish eating guide for the areas you fish and you'll be fine. They don't test the fish and make that guide for nothing, it's produced for a reason.
  7. Great report, looks like an awesome place to spend some time..thanks for sharing. Love the jumping shots of the strugeon.
  8. That was an awesome report, thanks for taking the time to put it together for us.
  9. To be honest i can't quite remember which we caught more of...Mostly when I used to fish there we were targeting Pickerel. There are two free launches on the river(always have been free and I'm assuming they still are). One is just south of Hyw 7 and the dam (you can see it from the Hwy) for the lower part of the river and one is just north of the dam for the upper part(just go north on the main street in town and take the first left then the first right and it's on the left). I believe but I've never boated it or fished it that you can access the lake from the launch just north of the dam. Whenever I was going to the lake we just used the launch on the lake. Free again and you can just park on the side of the road. Lots of free parking on the two river launches as well.
  10. I used to fish crow river quite a bit and it has a free launch on the lower end at the brudge on Hyw 7. Pike, bass, pickeral and even the very odd Muskie. Haven't fished it much over the past several years. Used to go to crow lake mostly for duck hunting. There is a free launch (or at least it was) on the west end of the lake. I could be wrong but I think I remember it being Blairton Road just before you get into Marmora. , north off of Hwy7.Not sure how the fishing has been but always worth a try I would imagine. Good luck
  11. I have a fixed mount for mine as well..A 17 foot aluminum. Bought it for the times on Lake O. I considered mounting the antenna but really didn't want it in the way for all the other times using the boat for other types of fishing and skiing and stuff. I have the swivel mount for the antenna but I just take the radio and antenna with me when I go on Lake O and sit the antenna on the floor up on the bow and hold it in place with something heavy on the base. Works great and then I just take it out when I get back and it's not in the way when I take the boat to ther places..Just a thought. I know that Shakespere now makes a small 3 foot fibreglass antenna which wouldn't take up much room at all and you would still get excellent reception and range. I use one of those booster packs and just clamp the booster cables onto the radio wire leads and your good to go and have the battery pack on board in case you need it as well. I do think you will be much happier with the hard mount radios though especially on the big lakes.
  12. Definately Bowmanville or Port Hope for the eastend anyway. You can get nice and close to the ladders to see the fish jumping.. MJL- I've been to Bownmanville several times over the last year or so and I've never seen the water that clear. That's a cool pic. Most you could see whem I have been there was when they jumped or broke the surface swimming around. Really stained waters.
  13. Oh really! What history is that?
  14. I consider myself very lucky when it comes to time off. I work shift work which sucks sometimes when you miss out on family functions and holiday times like Christmas but I certainly make up for it in other time off. I get 5 weeks vacation after being there 16 years but with banked time and the shift work it combines to a lot more. I just went back to work Monday after having 32 straight days off and I tell you it sure was nice and refreshing to have all that time off in a row. And I still have more time off in the fall for hunting. I feel for those who only get like two or three weeks of in a year. We all should have more time off work as I think it refreshes you. Fourteen more years and I'll have Lew's shedule!!
  15. That's amazing, well done. What an amazing and long lasting treasure for you Lew. The people on this board are truely great.
  16. that's awesome, thanks for the report. I was out today out of Whitby and got skunked but from the chatter on the radio it seemed guys were doing ok aout in very deep water. I might have to venture out there in my small boat this week if we can get some very calm days!! Good luck the rest of the week. I can't seem to get anything of any size to get anwhere near the board. Craig
  17. Great report and some good success. Welcome to the board..
  18. Congrats, I can't seem to get on to anything anywhere near that size. Good luck in the fishoff
  19. Excellent report, thanks for taking the time to put it together for us.
  20. Congratulations bud and all the best to you and your family..Almost 10 LBS wow!
  21. Congrats, thanks for using your time to keep others safe on the water..
  22. Not that I haven't had my share of small ones but here's a recent one for my son..
  23. Not sure about the motor but nice fish..
  24. I don't know about that area but I know that the two places I go hunting and another where I go to my buddies cottage none of their rogers phones work and mine with bell works so I'm sure it really depends on the area where they have towers. It's best to ask someone up there which works best. That's the only reason I stay with bell because the places I go it seems to work best even though I get a ton of dropped calls right in the city! Go figure
