Before Wednesday I was there in July and water lever was the same. So is crossing the tracks is not allowed or just waling down them?
-
I figured it was worth a shot, the dam is a pretty pressured area and it would be fun to fish topwater
-
I've been there only this year including today, it is pretty shallow but still fishable. Or did you mean it's even more so on the other side?
-
I've been fishing there at dam side a number of times but wanted to try another part of the lake. Can you fish from the conservation area side? Also, I know you cant walk on the tracks (even tho everyone I've seen there is doing it), but can I fish the small side of the lake (not from the tracks) or would that be illegal since I have to cross the tracks?

Tried drop shooting today and caught a crappie with it fishing from my boat. When fishing from shore do you guys use a bobber?
-
I haven't fished since Wednesday... so I was looking forward to it. If it's not too crappy out I'll be out. Just bought a rain suite so I should be alright
-
where do you guys buy the slammers? I looked thu lebarons catalog and at can tire and didnt see them.
-
Thanks Stoty! appreciate that. If I was at home I would've looked it up but being on lunch and posting from a phone, I figured someone wouldn't mind helping out. Is asking a question no longer allowed??
-
stupid question but drop shooting means casting and wating for a bite?
-
thanks guys. yesterdays catch was a lot more exciting tho.

I was referring to possible organ damage to the fish, something to do with long bodies of pike I'm guessing. harder to survive than a hook.

Spent a day fishing at Binbrook today from my inflatable. Weather was beautiful, most of the time wind was almost non existent, making for some very calm water, (wind and inflatables don't mix well lol). Caught 2 crappies trolling with spinners and lost another one boatside. Also lost a nice bass...:/ Pulled into a bay where I caught my first carp before, by less them ideal method - I saw it 2 feet from shore in weeds so I dropped hook with corn on it where the fish was and sure enough when I pulled the line it was hooked. My fiance said 'that's cheating' . Today after a few frustrating tried to hook another carp it finally happened! I dropped a hair rig in a spot where I saw a lot of bubbles, no real expectations of it catching it, but after a few minutes I see the bobber diver under with full force! I grabbed the rod and started reeling it in, but I set the bobber 5 ft from the sinker (+ another foot till the hook) so was having a hard time bringing the fish close enough for me to net it. It put up a good fight; trying to go under a boat, changing directions ect., then I finally managed to scoop it up. I tried taking other/better pics after, but my hands were wet and it didn't work (stupid touch screen phone!) Too bad you cant even see it all, it looked bigger in person I swear! lol

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Awesome pike! Did you keep it or release it? if latter it's not good for pike to hang with out belly support.
-
Oh well, at least I can put in a good effort.. What about pike and carp? Should be able to get them now, no?
-
I'm guessing it's after the dam than? Hopefully by than I'll have my fish finder so I'll know how much water is under me. pretty excited for this trip, I'll get my GF a license so I'll have 2 lines in the water all day long. Don't know if I'll keep any fish yet.
-
I've never been there is the conservation above or below the dam? My campsite is on water front so I'll be lunching and casting right from the site.

I'm going camping to Byng Island in Dunnville in 2 weeks, decided to try something other than Long point and it's a little closer to home. I plan to spend most of the time fishing and will bring my inflatable with a motor (love that thing btw!) I'll have my tackle box, so will see what works and what doesn't, but was hoping I can get some tips from people that fished there. What can I catch there? I'm guessing pike, bass, carp? Anything else? Any recommendations on lures or bait?
-
Very Nice!! I need to go to that lake sometime. Anyone wants to tag alone?
-
That's a nice size bass! I always want to fish the Grand, but always go to other places instead.
-
I'd recommend Abu Garcia villain rod.
-
Awesome, I will try that for sure! thanks.
-
lol that was good, loved the 'carless' car chase.
-
I'd love to catch pike in the harbour, any good spots? bait or lures?
-
This is going to be my first winter since I started fishing, as long as the water is not frozen I'll keep fishing

I lived in Guelph for 4 years, that was before I started fishing so never fished when I was there. Makes me sad to think of all the opportunities I missed... Anyways, there is a place that rents canoes and kayaks on the river downtown on Gordon st. where Eramossa and Speed river meet, I think they close in Oct but it depends on the weather. Guelph lake is pretty big should be a good place too you can access the dam with out having to pay the entrance fee, they have rentals as well in the conservation for the summer (September maybe?).
