  1. I know a spot with decent population of carp, it's not my fish of choice, but I've seen some large ones and would like to hook one of them. I've been there a couple of times and seen them swim around (usually in groups of 3 or so) I've used corn but no luck...spawning perhaps? I've caught carp on corn before but I've read different things on how to use it, some say use small hooks, others say you need a big one. Even read somewhere to put the corn on the line above the hook. So how should it be done? Also with corn being so easy to use, should I bother with dough-balls? I've heard some crazy 'recipes' too.
  2. I bought a bag about 3 month ago they are biodegradable so will dry up and eventually brake down if left out in the open. I don't use them much, only ever caught one crappie with it, but small fish go after them too, it's funny to see a fish 4" fish try to attack them.
  3. Are you only allowed one rod when fishing in an smaller inland lake from a boat?
  4. This came up in another thread, I tried looking for the info and couldn't find anything, in the PDF from MNR on different zones they just mention that there are restrictions but where do I find the details?
  5. Alright thanks guys, that's kinda what I thought. That's perfect for a inflatable with a trolling motor!
  6. lol, guns (target shooting) and fishing are my main hobbies.
  7. I'm hoping guys with sonars can tell me how deep the Moutsberg reservoir is (not including the weeds on the bottom ) avg and deepest spots.
  8. On lunch I had some free time so walked over to Canadian Tire to look at 12v battery chargers since I'll be buying by boat and trolling motor later this week. Lucky for me they had one on sale 40% off for $49.99 (reg. $89.99). Figured cant go wrong for the price and picked one up the store only had one left. Anyone use them? How did I do? http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/3/Batteries/BatteryChargers/PRD~0111518P/MotoMaster+Eliminator+Intelligent+Battery+Charger+12%2B8%2B2A.jsp?locale=en
  9. I've been there a couple of times both times ended up spending money lol. They're not as cheap as LeBarons but I got a good deal on a Shimano reel they have on sale.
  10. I'm saving up for Abu Garcia Vilain rod which is more money than Verdict or Veritas, probably their most expensive rod. Are they any good? I looked at a 7'1" MH rod and was pretty impressed with it.
  11. I would agree get a 7ft MH rod with a 20lb braided line that's what I use as well. When I upgraded from a 6'6" rod I really noticed the difference in casting distance. My next Rod will be a Abu Garcia Vilain 7'1" MH it's only 8-14lb test, but it still somehow has more backbone than my couple 8-17lb rods which is what I prefer for an all around rod.
  12. Is this anywhere in On? is it the same on a boat?
  13. Are you saying that I'm as a licensed holder can't use 2 rods when fishing? At very least my GF will be there but she not that interested in fishing.
  14. There is no Crown land in Southern ON at least near me... and I've never heard of such zones.
  15. I don't mind driving a couple of hours but 5h drive each way is quite expensive and not too practical if I'm just going for a weekend. If I had at least a week it'd be a different story... Like I said I've seen campsites on the water in Guelph and London so figured there has to be some others not too far away.
  16. Just looked it up it's like 5 hour drive! a little too far for a weekend camping getaway. I've heard of Rock Point but does it actually have sites where you don't have to leave the your site to find water? thats what I'm looking for; literaly a site right on water.
  17. I've been to a few campsites in SW ON and been going to Long Point exclusevly for the last 2 years because of the quality sandy beach and swimming value. Now that I started fishing like a mad man I'd like to find a good park with in 2hours of Hamilton that is adjacent to water so I don't have to leave the site to do some fishing, and just have a couple of lines in the water all day long. I know Guelph and London both have sights right on the lake, where else? What about Danville? I like private sights with lots of trees and cover that are not in a middle of a field. Thanks!
  18. I got skunked last 3 outings so I know the feeling at least you got something today.
  19. And I thought this is going to be simple lol! Thanks everyone.
  20. I caught a nice Bullhead with a Mepps Syclops, didn't expect that either.
  21. Thanks, so DC battery is not self charging than? Just passed the exam with 90% sweet!!
  22. Long point is my favourite spot but it books up really fast (good spots at least) so I usually book it 6 months in advance. Been there twice already this summer and going again in a month.
  23. I'm taking my boat licence course online and planning to get a trolling motor. I'll probably going to get an inflatable boat (due to lack of storage and towing capacity of my car) so figured a small 30lb motor will be fine, maybe 40 if I get a good deal... Who has a best deal on trolling motors? I hear a lot about Minn Kota so figured can't go wrong. I know a place that sells 30bs ones for $115 is that the best deal I can get? Also, I was looking at batteries today, is deep cycle battery all I need? Or do I need another battery to start the motor? Is there a limit on how long I can use the motor for? I've never really used them before so don't know much about them. Also I heard Costo has a good deal on them. Thanks!
  24. I like the look of Rams over any other truck, new models just look sexy! Congrats!
