  1. Hey thanks a lot! I've seen a lot of them at the Windermere basin or where it used to be, it's just the channel now, but they might've finished the work there by now. Saw some huge fish in that canal, it's very dirty tho; lots of tampon applicators floating around and last time I saw a couple of condoms too, kinda grossed me out lol.
  2. Haven't fished for salmon yet...I don't have any rods over 7' would that work?
  3. I've tried Harbour a few times and no luck, I've learned a few things since and have more tackle so might be worth a try again sometime. Btw any good places for carp fishing at the harbour? I've seen them jumping out on the water under that bridge by the coots.
  4. I've been to Cootes a number of times by Princess point early in the summer, all the fish I got were small lm and silver bass. Went there again for an hour yesterday and noticed water was much lower (by about 2 feet)... I've often seen people on kayaks and canoes there and I was wondering if electric motors were allowed? Maybe I could take my inflatable with a TM. Or maybe even just the boat even if I have to paddle. What other fish is in there? I know they took the carp out some years ago. Is it worth it?
  5. I guess they make both popper and shallow runner, mine looks like this;
  6. Flies as in flyfishing? I don't do that...yet. Picked up the 2 mentioned Rebel lures, grasshopper is 'popper' type and bumblebug is a crankbait type. How do you work the popper? One thing I noticed is that they are built kinda light with tiny hooks, great for penfish and bass but can they handle a carp? :/
  7. I was just on Mepps website and noticed in their lure selection guide for Carp they have lures like Syclops and Aglia Long among others. Can you actually catch them on lures? I've caught a nice Bullhead catfish on a Syclops #3 before, but carp??
  8. That's awesome! I really need to visit LSC! How far were you from shore? depth?
  9. Ah yes the Big Creek, you can rent a canoe or a rowboat there too.
  10. There's a dam and water is always going thru - at least the times I've been there. I have a few days off next week so I'll go there again sometime. With the rain we had and less heat lately water has to be a little higher (hopefully).
  11. I'm in Hamilton too and been camping about 3 times a year at Long point for last 3 years now. Going again next weekend for a few days . And no ticks yet
  12. I have a Sundog sunglasses and love them, I think mine are for cycling, but they work great for driving and fishing too.
  13. I read somewhere that stocked trout like shrimp too, so ill try that. About corn do i put it on a hair rig like for carp or straight on a hook?
  14. I called and they only charge like $10 to get in the park and you can keep 2, no extra pay.
  15. Its in a conservation area. Id rather use lures will the syclospes work?
  16. I have an inflatable with a trolling motor but dont want to walk it like i said for 50 meters before i can get in.
  17. I'm going to fish at a stocked pond for rainbow trout and bass this weekend, but I never fished for trout before. I have a few Mepps Syclops lures that I use for pike but know they are also good for salmon. I'm guessing they would work well there too? I have a little bit of everything in my tackle box and will be fishing from shore (small pond) with my GF so need some tips on locating the fish and what lures and techniques to use. Thanks.
  18. I've been there a couple of weeks ago and water level was pretty low. At the dam that cement bad by the picnic table was at least 6" above water and it was impossible to lunch my inflatable with out me having to walk the boat for 50+ meters before I could get in and start paddling or use my TM. I was hoping after all the rain we had it would be a little higher now. Anyone been there recently?
  19. I'm in Hamilton too and got a Binbrook year pass, caught pike, bullhead, carp, bass, black crappie, white crappie there. but also too many time got skunked! I'm self taught as well (and still learning) with a help from internet but I don't use worms, as they don't target anything specific and will mostly catch small bait fish. Go to Bills bait and tackle or Fishing world and buy some lures. For bass mister twisters, for pike spoons, spinners. I like Mepp Syclops and Aglia.
  20. If that's the case I might as well get the watch one. :/
  21. I just read somewhere that Piranha Max tell you the depth of the fish while Lowrance doesn't. Is that true?
  22. Long Point beach is hard to beat IMO.
  23. Between Lowrance X4 portable and Hummingbird PiranhaMax 160 portable which one would you guys recommend?
