Well with the rain we've had the last day or so I figure there's only 2 possible scenarios... The dark beat up old fish that were staging ran up river and a fresh batch of silver fish moved up for the taking... Oooor they all ran up and there's nothing left for me to catch in the morning! Haha but I think I'll give it a shot! I'll be at the mouth of the credit sometime around 5 am with gear in hand if anyone wants to join! Cheers, Ryan

Hey Guys! Tomorrow morning I'm hoping to hit the mouth of the Credit in hopes of some Salmonoids! After that I'll be down at Ontario Place untangling lines and baiting hooks for the Facts of Fishing Kids Fishing Day from 10 a.m. until 3 P.m. I've seen mayfly hatches before... I figured they might be a type of mayfly but i haven't seen any this small before! they were the size of and similar in shape to mosquito's! I should have taken a closeup shot of one of them... there's still plenty stuck on the truck haha... so maybe I'll do that tonight if I can.. Cheers, Ryan

I grew up in sudbury and don't recall ever seeing anything like this before... these little buggers were out so thick it was like driving through a cloud... I drove just around the block (country block) tonight and my truck was completely covered in these things! It was a massacre... Averie asked me if it was rainin! lol ... dunno what they are? Nats maybe? New to me anyways..some crazy hatch goin on... Cheers, Ryan

I have a very similar issue over here GRT1 but with my wood fireplace. It's a big giant custom made insert from the mid 70's that has served well not only for heat, but as the centerpiece of my living room, a place for my family and I to sit around and just relax and be together. Christmas is the best time with stockings hanging and a blazing fire with holiday tunes and the whole bit... BUT, because it is custom / homemade they might shut me down... force me to weld the doors shut or replace it.. The cost to replace it with a factory made, approved WOOD fireplace is around 2500.00 which just isn't in the cards for us. We have a guy coming to look at it today to see if he can help us out. Well the rain didn't stop, but it let up enough for Averie and I to head out in hopes of catching a few fish... I wanted carp and she wanted whatever she could get to bite... We fished for just over an hour... I managed one little carp and Averie got into some panfish and a few small bass... Beat's sittin around in the house all day. Averie kept busy with these while I chummed and waited for a bite... We got this guy right off the bat.... I've never seen them with sores like that on the side before... I put the kids to work on some fresh carp bait! Mom wasn't to impressed that I let them do it AFTER they had a bath! haha Took him a good 10 minutes or so to peel ONE cob! If the rain holds off the kid and I will be heading down for some local carp action.... And if we get rained out we'll join the dogs for a little of this instead... Hey Gang, My old man took a couple of kids out fishing this past weekend on Nepewassi Lake near Sudbury. First off they absolutely SMASHED them with 38 fish caught, almost all bass with a few walleye mixed in. All caught on Gulp. Here's the funny thing, my dad get's checked by a CO who tells him that he's got a nice livewell full of SMALLIES?!?!?!?! and then goes on to tell him that there's no largies in the lake! SERIOUSLY? You be the judge! haha Just thought I'd post it as I thought those were some funny lookin' smallies! Cheers, Ryan

Hey Guys and Gals! Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. I thought of this post yesterday, because to day is the first day back for most kids, though for Averie this week she'll just be meeting her teacher and checking out the class room and such... next week is the big week! I joined OFC right around the time Averie was born, and made a post proudly presenting my new baby girl! Here's a picture of her only a few days old, fishing Humber Bay Park for gators! haha Shortly after that we moved out to where we are now and she's been my best fishing buddy ever since.... First fish hold... We spent many early mornings beating the banks together...never once did she complain about having to spend time with dad... Her First brookie.. all be it a stocker... Then she took well to Ice Fishing... And the boat opened up a whole new world of opportunities... such as ice out perchin' on the bay... She out-fished me right from the beginning... Some days were meant to remember forever like when she caught her first bass! This past winter we started ice fishing in style! We've spent many wet nights picking worms... She's whopped the big boys in local kids derby's... And this summer she's smashed personal best.... After Personal Best... After Peronal Best.. When I first wrote reports that included my new and best fishing buddy I was told to cherish the moments while they lasted as they grow up all to fast. Labor Day weekend is nearly behind us, and before I know it my best bud is going to start her first day of school where she'll make new friends, and open up a whole new chapter in her life. I don't think I've ever been so excited, and scared as a dad in my entire life. Having a home office, unless I'm on the road, she's only been but a few steps away since the day she was born..... I wish her nothing but the best in school, and the same for all of you parents out there who have kids starting school, or going back again this year. In the end, as long as she's willing to wet a line with her old man for years to come I guess there's not much more I can ask for! Enjoy what's left of your weekends and best of luck to all the young ones going back to school next week! Cheers, Ryan
